Story
Our pretty little girl is called Cora and what a loving and sweet little Pointer mix girl she truly is.  She loves playing with other dogs and sleeping in the bed with her foster mom.  This little girl was one of 8 puppies left in an outdoor pen and basically abandoned by the former owner when they loved.  Neighbors stopped by for 3 months to feed and water the puppies and sadly that was all.  They grew and grew and eventually started fighting over the little food they had and the small pen was just so confining. One of the great Critter Cavalry Rescue foster moms heard of their plight and went to get them out of their hot, and confining pen that offered no exercise and not enough food daily…and NO HUMAN LOVE.  Now Cora and her siblings are seeking homes where they can spread their wings and bask in the love and care of their new families.  Cora is remarkably loving and fun and seems to not have been emotionally stunted by their early months of growing up abandoned.  We know that she loves other dogs!  She plays with a 45 pound black lab male that is a year old and “Her and Bo are like two peas in a pod”.  They absolutely love playing together, tug of war, chasing each other in the yard, or just sleeping in the dog bed together.  Cora is good with cats and loves the young children that are in the home, even with all their noise and high energy play.  She is almost there with her potty training and she is good with being in the crate at times needed.  Cora relates to people and loves them.  She always needs to be right by someone and loves to lay on your feet. She has learned not to be possessive of her good or toys as she first started out being.  We totally understood the possessiveness and now she is relaxed and eager to share.  This pretty girl and her siblings have come such a long way.  We are so happy for them to be in out foster care and receiving the love that they so readily deserve.  If you really want to adopt a “rescued dog” then Cora is the total definition of a rescued puppy! If you are interested in making her your own please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com!!! PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.August 19, 2024, 2:03 pm

Story
Sometimes in the rescue world our stories about a dog we are presenting for a home just kind of leaves us a little speechless for adequate words. This boy that we call “Good Friend Charlie” is one of those deep and touching stories that we know only God had a hand in making come true as he was rescued. His foster mom Rachel calls him “a dream dog!”  But when she stumbled upon him hanging out on her countryside property where she raises chickens and geese and many other dogs that belong to her…she was not so sure of his friendly intentions.  We believe Charles was dumped in her area where he roamed for approximately 3 months, many attempting to catch him but failing as he was smart and elusive.  He roamed onto foster mom, Rachel’s property and within 2 days came out of survival mode (he would bark and bark at her while she was outside tending to her geese and chickens) and when she offered him a blanket one night as he laid in her flowerbed all curled up in 10 degree weather, he soon came back into domesticated mode the next morning.  Because of being abandoned, Good Friend Charlie has some separation anxiety and will need you to be patient while you earn his trust that he won’t be abandoned again and that you will come back for him when you leave.  This boy loves all other animals; dogs, cats, geese, chickens and he loves people of all ages.  He is only 3 years of age and weighs 50 pounds.  We think the grey on his face might be from early stress in his life.  Maybe from uncertainty that he has felt in whatever former life he lived. Good Friend Charlie is well-trained and knows how to sit, stay, lay down, off and wait. He even waits for permission to exit the door and waits for you to tell him he can eat his food.  He does well on a leash but he prefers to roam on his own and rarely will go more than 4 feet from you. This special dog would be wonderful for someone that does live on some acreage and just wants an indoor and outdoor companion and who is working from home or just retired and kicking back in their life.  He loves to ride in the car shotgun style in the passenger seat and he is a homebody’s best friend.  Charlie knows exactly what he wants and will alert you with a few barks to let you know he wants to go outside, or his water bowl is empty, or even when he is ready for bedtime and he is house trained.  He does have some jealousy if you are giving attention to other animals but he is easily corrected and gets better daily as he learns more about coexisting in this new home environment.  He takes to correction like a champ!  If you really want to adopt a dog that is the definition of “Man’s Best Friend” then Good Friend Charlie is your dog for a lifetime.  Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com to ask about an adoption application. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.August 19, 2024, 2:03 pm

Please contact Rachel Durnin (racheld2@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Handsome young man looking for a home!RANDALL NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!       Name:   Randall          Best Guess for Breed:   Pointer and hound mix      Best Guess for Age:   2 years as of February 2024          SEX:    Male   Approximate Weight:   38 lbs   Gets Along With:    Other dogs! Randall was tested with cats and showed interest in them. We would be cautious about placing him in a home with a cat unless the cat has lived with dogs before.   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home.   Randall is Looking For:    His forever home! Through no fault of his own, this handsome boy ended up in the shelter. He is full of fun, young dog energy and is ready to have his own humans to trot alongside on sniffy walks, romps in local parks, and all the adventures they can dream up! Exploring all the toys sounds great too, as well as some delicious kibble and a cushy dog bed.   Most of all, though, he wants to know he's safe and loved and under his own roof every time the sun goes down. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes, cuddles, and loyalty for all his days.   What do you say? Is Randall the companion you've been looking for? What My Foster Says About Me:     'Randall is a good boy with a big heart and huge eyes who LOVES his humans. He’s been loving and gentle with both dogs and people of all ages. People really do light up in a smile as they pass him on the sidewalk because his happiness and enthusiasm are infectious. Whether in the neighborhood or dog park, he makes friends wherever he goes and looks like he’s asking, “are you my forever home?” He is great with his crate, sleeps through the night, is very food motivated, and is adaptive to his environment as long as he gets reassuring pets and kisses from his people. He’s adaptive to activity level, too: he loves to sniff on walks and would have the stamina for long outdoor activities, but he knows how to chill out at home with his humans.' Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Please contact Paul Slebzak (pauls@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.joyful boy ready to play! HARRIS NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Harris          Best Guess for Breed:  Pointer and hound mix  Best Guess for Age: 1.5 years as of July 2024         SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight: 44 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! He has been seen with children but hasn't . He lives with cats, but might try to chase them playfully, so he would be best with dog-savvy cats.   Currently Living at:  Georgia shelter foster home   All about Harris: Harris is a joyful boy full of all that awesome young-dog energy! Shelter staff said this: 'Give him a ball and a friend, whether 4-legged or 2-, and his joy is contagious. He will literally bound 4 feet off the ground next to you with happiness!'   He landed in an overcrowded Georgia shelter through no fault of his own and was scheduled for euthanasia. Just in time, he was pulled and sent to a foster home. In that foster home he has shown to be a wonderful family pet! He's good in the crate, hasn't had accidents in the home, is great with other dogs, and has been great with all the people he's met. He's met kids as young as three years old - but shelter staff caution that he might be too bouncy for very young children. He lives with cats and is good with them but might run after them in play - so he'd be better with dog-savvy cats.    He doesn't have much chance of landing a forever home in his area. There are just too many dogs and not enough homes. Harris is truly a great hound and wants nothing more than to have his own humans, to be safe and loved and under his own roof. In exchange he promises adoring gazes and happy tail wags and to make you laugh - and always be by your side, through thick and thin, on all your adventures.    What do you say? Is this young boy the companion you have been seeking?   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Story
Hi y’all, my name is Dory, I'm a 1 year old, 50 lbs., German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP) mix and I’m looking for a loving place to call my forever home. You see, the first few months of my life weren’t easy. My first human was young when she got me and brought me home to live with her, her grandmother, and another dog. I later found out that she never asked her grandmother’s permission to bring me home. Although I felt like an outcast, I stayed close to my first human to feel safe until she stopped coming around--- I guess I stopped being the new and shiny thing in her life. With her gone, tension built up at home. Her grandmother resented me, and her dog really disliked me. In fact, the other dog bullied and hurt me a few times.  For some dogs, losing their home is traumatic. However, I felt a huge sense of relief when I was surrendered because I was no longer walking on eggshells. The wonderful South Carolina animal shelter welcomed me in and showed me that the world isn’t scary. With their care and love, I blossomed! I love the outdoors and I love playing with other playful pups. After some waiting, the shelter transferred me to A Home of Their Own Animal Rescue to increase my chances of finding my forever home as they are overwhelmed with the number of dogs being surrendered and abandoned. A Home of Their Own assured me that I’d find a forever home here. They’ll continue to update my bio as they get to know me, so stay tuned!  ##2143152##

Story
Milo has been the best thing to happen to my life, which is why it is very hard for my family and me to let him go. He forced me to explore my neighborhood, making me active when I used to stay indoors. Milo makes us laugh and sometimes mad when he misbehaves, but in the two years we've known him, he has brought so much joy. He loves meeting new dogs and is very protective of our home and us. Unlike other dogs, once he realizes you are not a threat, he becomes calm and non-defensive. Patience is key with Milo because he can be very energetic one day and lazy the next, preferring to stay indoors when it rains. He's well-trained, knowing to poop and pee outside and signaling when he needs to go. Impressively, he can go off-leash and never runs away. Letting him go is heartbreaking, but we know he will bring joy to his new home. Milo has profoundly impacted our lives, encouraging us to be active and providing endless entertainment and companionship. I just hope you all give him a chance.

Story
Ollie is a handsome, friendly and playful boy who would love a home - a real home. He came to us from a person who had 17 dogs, and got into trouble for that, and for allowing his dogs to roam around town. Ollie was one of these dogs. We are happy that Ollie now has a chance to find a real home. One where he can live inside, and be treated like the piece of gold that he is. He's ready to learn! Ollie walks pretty well on a leash already and would love to go on hikes and adventures. He'd do well in a home with another dog, and has gotten along with males and females. Ollie is just 3 years old, so has a lot of years ahead of him. He'd do best with an active family, or to have a fenced in yard or place he can run and stretch his legs. He has moderate energy and weighs 50 lbs. He is up to date on all vaccines, dewormings and preventatives, is neutered and microchipped. His adoption fee is $175.
