Story
Meet Tasha, a two year old Weimaraner/Terrier mix weighing 28 pounds.Tasha is an adorably petite girl who we joke is a mini Weimaraner! She was found running around with three other dogs and seems to do well with dogs and she has hung out in a staff member’s office with a smaller dog. Tasha is a shy girl who is learning to open up and trust new people. The good news is that Tasha is treat oriented and loves food so we are winning her over. We are looking for a home that will take their time with Tasha and show her that new things aren’t scary and not everything has to be barked at. She would do best in a quieter home without young kids for right now. Due to Tasha being a bit on the flighty side we recommend leash walking her at first so she doesn’t get free and bolt and you also don’t have to try and catch her if you have a larger backyard. Tasha is really just needing someone to go slow and show her the world isn’t the scary place she thinks it is. Are you that person? Story
Meet Auggy, a two year old Pointer/Doberman mix weighing around 68 pounds.Auggy is a big boy with a lean body-type and a docked tail. He is pretty excited in his kennel but once he is outside for a couple of minutes he calms down, this is quite common for dogs in shelter environments. This guy is a friendly dork who is happy to say hi to new people and wants nothing more than to make new friends. Want a dog that wants to go on adventures? Look no further! Auggy will stand outside with a toy in his mouth just waiting for someone to play with him, it is pretty cute. He has done fantastic with all the dogs we have introduced him to. He plays extremely well, doesn`t fixate on the dog or want to cause trouble he is just happy to be included. He even met a rather angry small dog that told him off for just sniffing at him and Auggy was completely cool with it. Auggy went on a hike recently and stuck his head in a rabbit hole and then pointed at it... Good boy Auggy! We have been really impressed with Auggy during his time with us and think he will make an excellent dog for someone. This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal`s picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don`t Shop.

Story
Meet Kenneth, a two year old Pointer/Pit mix.Kenneth is a handsome boy who weighs in at 52 pounds. He enjoys going on his walks and is surprising good on his leash for a dog that just came to us. Kenneth likes the sound of squeakers and is curious about the other dogs he sees. He lets people come up and pet him when on his walks without any issue and has a good disposition. He went on a hike with one of our amazing volunteers and they said he did great continually checking in and letting other people and dogs pass without much fuss. He does have a lot of energy at first, which is understandable coming from a kennel environment, but once he burns some of that energy off he really settles in.
