Story
SPEEDWAGON - 1 year, 30lbs, Whippet/Terrier Mix, Neutered  This dog is available for foster to adopt. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Our Team Says: "Speedwagon needs a home in a calm part of the city - BK, Queens, etc. He would thrive in the burbs. He's not meant to be a city boy."  His Foster Parent Says: "Speedwagon( aka Speedy) Is a wonderful dog. He is full of life and energy. He is playful, sweet, loves his pets and cuddles. He is still a younger dog, so some training is still needed. He does know basic commands like sit, stay, and lay down. He is friendly with our resident dog and would most likely do great with another dog." Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy level:MEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Cuddle Bug Level High — Wants to be in your lap pretty much all the time  Potty TrainedYes — Few or no accidents  Comfy with strangers? Yep — Wants to be friends with everyone who walks by, super social butterfly, loves anyone who will stop to say hello. Comfortable with Children? (ALWAYS requires supervision) - n/a or unsure Social with Other Dogs? Mostly — Generally good with other dogs but may be picky - he displays friendly and playful behavior with our resident dog. Unsure about other dogs though! Mouthy Behavior? Higher  – We don't believe he was ever trained to not be mouthy. Wants to put everything in their mouth. Tries to chew on your hands when playing or needs attention, grabs the leash with its mouth, loves to gnaw on your personal belongings. We are working on training that out of him. Saying no, no biting or ow. Replacement toys. He is fast to stop or let go.  Leash Manners? Getting the Hang of it – Probably hasn’t been on a leash much in its life but he/she is figuring it out. Might be a mild puller but responds to correction.  Okay in the city? Needs to live in a calm area - NOT a city boy — Spooked easily by loud noises and bustling areas but walks pretty well and probably just needs more time to adjust Jumping on People to Say Hi? Medium – Jumps up only on people the dog knows when really excited. Stops with correction and further training.  Separation Anxiety? Low – Completely fine being left home alone. Usually found on the couch. Just have to make sure the house is safe as he is still mouthy Crate training? Not at all – We are working on getting one, just so he begins to have an option. Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake  How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
Hello! My name is Kolo, and I'm an energetic 4-year-old Indian pariah dog. I was rescued from the streets of India as a puppy and got adopted in New Jersey. Sadly, my family is not able to care for me any longer so I'm looking for a forever home where I can live rest of my life and share all my love. Here are some things you should know about me: Energetic and Active: I love daily long walks and need plenty of exercise to keep me happy and healthy. High Prey Drive: It's best to keep me in a fenced yard to ensure I don't get into any trouble chasing after small animals. So, I cannot be around small animals in the house. Smart and Trained: I know a variety of commands and am crate trained, so I'm already ahead of the game! Sensitive Soul: Due to my early life experiences, I'm very fearful of new people and other dogs. I do best as the only dog in the house. Great with Older Kids: I get along well with older children who can respect my boundaries and understand my needs. Needs a Strong Leader: I'm looking for a strong, experienced dog owner who can continue my training and help me build my confidence every day. If you think you can provide the loving, structured home I need, please contact Rescuewithoutborders@gmail.com for an adoption application. I can't wait to meet my new family and start our adventures together!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. DEXTER was saved and cared for by Muscat Dog Adoption, before sending him with other saved dogs to Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine. They arrived in the US on 28th January 2025 and were transported to the rescue where they are settling in. DEXTER was cleared by the US canine center for diseases upon entry into the US. He is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm and tick tested negative, is on monthly preventatives, microchipped, weighs around 34 pounds and has an estimated date of birth or 16 September 2022. DEXTER's story is that he was rescued in January 2023 with his sister as young pups in a high traffic area around a lot of hotel complex's where dogs are not welcome and often shot or run over. They were taken to Muscat Dog Adoption Rescue where they were cared for until homes or transfer to another rescue was found. His sister was adopted and Dexter was lucky enough to come over to the US for his forever family to find him. Stray dogs in Oman are referred to as "Wadi Dogs" and are a mix of the popular sighthound breeds, specifically thought to be descendents of the majestic Saluki and other smaller breeds, many resembling whippets with their small agile frames. If not saved these dogs are often shot or brutally ran over and left for dead. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. DEXTER is available for adoption for an adoption fee of $300, as noted he is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine and families are required to complete and submit an  adoption application and when approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and hopefully take home this sweet boy. Applications are processed with 24 hours of them being received. HATTIE's story is that she was found as a young pup in a busy tourist area in Muscat where dogs are either shot or run over and left for dead. Sadly her mother and all 5 of her siblings had been shot and she was the only survivor. Hattie was taken to a wonderful Omani lady who cared for along with a lot of other dogs. Whilst she spent most of her time in a large crate where she could stand and stretch and was taken out for bathroom breaks. She only got to go on walks twice a week when volunteers would come and help with the dogs.
