Story
Hello! My name is Kolo, and I'm an energetic 4-year-old Indian pariah dog. I was rescued from the streets of India as a puppy and got adopted in New Jersey. Sadly, my family is not able to care for me any longer so I'm looking for a forever home where I can live rest of my life and share all my love. Here are some things you should know about me: Energetic and Active: I love daily long walks and need plenty of exercise to keep me happy and healthy. High Prey Drive: It's best to keep me in a fenced yard to ensure I don't get into any trouble chasing after small animals. So, I cannot be around small animals in the house. Smart and Trained: I know a variety of commands and am crate trained, so I'm already ahead of the game! Sensitive Soul: Due to my early life experiences, I'm very fearful of new people and other dogs. I do best as the only dog in the house. Great with Older Kids: I get along well with older children who can respect my boundaries and understand my needs. Needs a Strong Leader: I'm looking for a strong, experienced dog owner who can continue my training and help me build my confidence every day. If you think you can provide the loving, structured home I need, please contact Rescuewithoutborders@gmail.com for an adoption application. I can't wait to meet my new family and start our adventures together!

Story
Meet Hermione – A Loving Survivor Ready to Wiggle Her Way Into Your Heart! Hermione, a 5-year-old Whippet/Greyhound mix, is looking for her forever home after overcoming incredible odds. Fully grown at 39 pounds, she boasts a gorgeous white, gray, and silver coat and a face that's as enchanting as her gentle soul. Hermione’s journey to Home for Good Dog Rescue began in Swainsboro, Georgia, where she was abandoned at a kill shelter and battling severe heartworm disease. She was scheduled for euthanasia when her life took a turn for the better. With the help of Home for Good Dog Rescue and dedicated veterinarians, she received the life-saving care she desperately needed. Her treatment included extensive medical attention to address the damage caused by the heartworms, and today, Hermione is thriving and ready for her happily ever after. About Hermione: Hermione is not just sweet—she’s a total lovebug! Her whole body wiggles with joy when she sees her favorite humans, and she adores being comfy, whether it’s snuggling on the couch or lounging in her bed. She’s loving, submissive, and eager to please, thriving on affection and kindness. She walks beautifully on a leash and enjoys exploring the world around her. Hermione gets along well with other dogs who share her calm temperament and would thrive in a home with relaxed canine companions. She also does well with children and cats, making her a fantastic match for many families. She is housebroken and sleeps peacefully through the night on a dog bed without a peep. What Hermione Needs: While Hermione’s previous illness doesn’t hinder her joyful personality, she will require an adopter committed to her ongoing care. She is currently on medication and will likely remain on medication for the rest of her life to support her health. Her forever family must be prepared to monitor her condition and ensure she continues to thrive. If you’re looking for a calm, loving companion who will bring endless joy and snuggles to your life, Hermione is the perfect fit. She’s ready to find her magical forever home—could it be with you? 🐾❤️ Hermione is spayed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped. Given the conditions Hermione originated from, upon rescue, she tested positive for Heartworm disease. Thanks to Home for Good Dog Rescue, Hermione has undergone her Heartworm treatment. *Heartworm disease is a serious and if left untreated, fatal disease. It is caused by foot-long worms (heartworms) that live in the heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels of affected animals, causing severe lung disease, heart failure, and damage to other organs in the body. Mosquitoes are carriers of heartworms and have the ability to infect dogs all year round, especially in the Southeastern portion of the United States and during the summer months.* **Please note: completing an "adoption inquiry" via Adopt-a-pet/Petfinder does not constitute an HFG Dog Rescue adoption application. Story
We’re crazy about Ava! Meet Ava, a stunning and sleek Whippet/Jack Russel Terrier mix with a lovely grey and white coat of short fur. Ava is 1-year-old and weighs 20 pounds. She was rescued from a kill shelter in Swainsboro, Georgia and is spending each day so grateful for her chance to find a loving family of her own. Ava is the perfect companion to add to your home, and she will be ready for adoption on January 17! Ava is absolutely a “people” dog and loves her human friends. She adores being held and gets so excited when any of her favorite people come around. She’s very loving and affectionate, happy to cuddle and give super sweet kisses. When Ava isn’t being a total lovebug, she quite likes playtime with her humans and other doggy friends. She’s happy around cats, too, and just simply enjoys the company of others. Between cuddles and playing with her friends, Ava likes to do a few party tricks. Those include: begging for butt scratches and moonwalking. She’s happy to show you anytime you’d like. She thinks they will make you smile. Ava is a beautiful girl who deserves an amazing family. She’d love a home with other dogs, cats, or kids, or just a human or two as her “pawrents.” Truly, this girl is happy anywhere with anyone, and she can’t wait for you to choose her. Come by soon and make Ava’s dreams come true! Ava is spayed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped. **Please note: completing an "adoption inquiry" via Adopt-a-pet/Petfinder does not constitute an HFG Dog Rescue adoption application. Story
SPEEDWAGON - 1 year, 30lbs, Whippet/Terrier Mix, Neutered  This dog is joining Social Tees on 1/11 and is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program starting that day. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy level:MEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Potty trained?Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help. Social with other dogs?Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.  Okay in the city?We don’t know yet. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs.  Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake  How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
Aloha! My name is Makue (Mah-ku-eh), and I come all the way from Kauai, where I was found as a stray and brought to the Kauai Humane Society. Some nice people helped get me transported to PupStarz Rescue in New York so I would have a better chance at finding a forever home. I am 1 year 9 month old, 55 pounds (as of 1/6) wonderful Whippet/ Pit Bull/ Pointer mix dog with the most beautiful coat and mesmerizing eyes. I love humans and will immediately try to sit on your lap and snuggle against you at our first meeting. I get along well with my two foster dog sisters and follow their lead but I would love to be an only dog too, because I LOVE human attention and am a velcro dog. I want to be attached to my foster mom at all times and love to cuddle. While I do get along with most dogs, I wouldn't be a good fit in a home with cats or young dogs. I'm not food aggressive at all, and am fine with humans touching me and brushing my teeth. I'm mostly housetrained and will stand by the door if I need to go out. And my leash walking is so much better than when I first came to New York. I can't wait to meet my new forever family. Are you my person? If so, I will love you unconditionally and give you so much affection!
