Story
G Man is really what we call "extra needs". As our vet said when G was examined "what a trainwreck". Upon intake, G Man had no fur on his legs and they were covered in sores. He also was having rectal prolapses frequently, not to mention some stinky breath and skin. With some awesome vet care, medicated baths, oral meds and surgery, he has morphed into quite the handsome and quirky guy that he is today. G does require daily meds for his skin (about $35 per month ) and weekly baths with a medicated shampoo. He does experience bouts of constipation but he has meds for that also. G Man is tolerant of other dogs his size, but is terrified of puppies and larger dogs. He is most comfortable sitting/sleeping beside or on top of his human. His whole world will revolve around his person and when he lays his head against your chest and at you with his eyes, you know that you are deeply loved by him! At just under a year old, I know I may catch your eye with my youthful charm and adorable face, but let me tell you a little more about myself. I’m a sweet, shy girl who’s still figuring out that the world isn’t so scary. Right now, everything feels a bit overwhelming, and I’ll need a family who understands that building trust with me will take time, patience, and lots of love. While I’m still getting used to this new environment at FOHA, I’ve discovered one thing that helps me feel more like a carefree pup—being around other dogs! Watching them play and interact gives me a little extra confidence, so I might do best in a home with a calm, friendly dog who can show me the ropes. I haven’t fully let my playful side shine just yet, but I’m starting to learn that tasty treats like cheese and hot dogs are pretty great. What I really need, though, is a family who’s willing to go slow with me, meet me a few times to let me get comfortable, and give me the time I need to blossom. If you’re patient, kind, and ready to help me learn that people can be my friends, I just might be the perfect pup for you. I’m still new here, and I have so much to learn, but with the right home, I know I’ll find my confidence and grow into the wonderful companion I’m meant to be. Meet Baxter - Baxter is about 9 months old and weighs about 17 pounds. He is people, dog and cat friendly. Baxter is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm Negative and microchipped. FOSTER UPDATE: Are you looking for a fun-loving guy who's also affectionate? Look no further, Baxter is your guy! Do you have a bunch of foam filled toys that you'd like to get rid of? NO PROBLEM! Baxter will have them destroyed and ready for the trash can in no time flat! He is a fan of ALL kinds of chew toys & hasn't chewed on anything that isn't his. Good boy!!! EVERYONE wants a dog who's housetrained but very few are, this early in the game. I have excellent news for you! Baxter is fully house trained (ZERO accidents!) and crate trained. He is SOOO smart and is very quickly adapting to a whole new set of "skills". He learned "crate up" (my command for dogs going into their crate) and we're working on "heel." Whenever we're on a walk and I stop, he stops too, sits and looks at me in anticipation of a treat. He learned all of these skills in just a few days. Imagine what he could learn from YOU, if he had more time. And can we talk about his HAIR??? Baxter has 1 skill he's still working on; better behavior when he sees other dogs on the leash. At 17 pounds he's easy to control (physically) but his barking can be a little embarrassing! Given a little time and a walk, with other dogs, then he's ready to be their friend and PLAY. I've tried to explain to him that you don't get a second chance to make a first impression, but he looks at me like I'm an idiot. Having fostered for 11 years - I've seen it all. Baxter is a great dog, and I don't say that very often. Apply today before it's too late. You won't regret it!!!
