IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS LISTING ON PETFINDER OR ADOPT-A-PET, please visit: Caninesandkittiesrescue.org to access adoption requirements, more information and pictures. Meet Baxter - Baxter is about 9 months old and weighs about 17 pounds. He is people, dog and cat friendly. Baxter is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm Negative and microchipped. FOSTER UPDATE: Are you looking for a fun-loving guy who's also affectionate? Look no further, Baxter is your guy! Do you have a bunch of foam filled toys that you'd like to get rid of? NO PROBLEM! Baxter will have them destroyed and ready for the trash can in no time flat! He is a fan of ALL kinds of chew toys & hasn't chewed on anything that isn't his. Good boy!!! EVERYONE wants a dog who's housetrained but very few are, this early in the game. I have excellent news for you! Baxter is fully house trained (ZERO accidents!) and crate trained. He is SOOO smart and is very quickly adapting to a whole new set of "skills". He learned "crate up" (my command for dogs going into their crate) and we're working on "heel." Whenever we're on a walk and I stop, he stops too, sits and looks at me in anticipation of a treat. He learned all of these skills in just a few days. Imagine what he could learn from YOU, if he had more time. And can we talk about his HAIR??? Baxter has 1 skill he's still working on; better behavior when he sees other dogs on the leash. At 17 pounds he's easy to control (physically) but his barking can be a little embarrassing! Given a little time and a walk, with other dogs, then he's ready to be their friend and PLAY. I've tried to explain to him that you don't get a second chance to make a first impression, but he looks at me like I'm an idiot. Having fostered for 11 years - I've seen it all. Baxter is a great dog, and I don't say that very often. Apply today before it's too late. You won't regret it!!! The Adoption Fee for this dog is $400.00 ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Story
https://foha.org/pet/marypoppins2024/ Hi there, I’m Mary Poppins! At just under a year old, I know I may catch your eye with my youthful charm and adorable face, but let me tell you a little more about myself. I’m a sweet, shy girl who’s still figuring out that the world isn’t so scary. Right now, everything feels a bit overwhelming, and I’ll need a family who understands that building trust with me will take time, patience, and lots of love. While I’m still getting used to this new environment at FOHA, I’ve discovered one thing that helps me feel more like a carefree pup—being around other dogs! Watching them play and interact gives me a little extra confidence, so I might do best in a home with a calm, friendly dog who can show me the ropes. I haven’t fully let my playful side shine just yet, but I’m starting to learn that tasty treats like cheese and hot dogs are pretty great. What I really need, though, is a family who’s willing to go slow with me, meet me a few times to let me get comfortable, and give me the time I need to blossom. If you’re patient, kind, and ready to help me learn that people can be my friends, I just might be the perfect pup for you. I’m still new here, and I have so much to learn, but with the right home, I know I’ll find my confidence and grow into the wonderful companion I’m meant to be. Could you be the one to help me write my next chapter? Let’s take it one step at a time—together.

Story
We have had Sirius since 2020 and Luna since 2021. We just moved here from California and due to new medical conditions we are not able to care for them. Both dogs have been around cats and children (we have 2 year old) and no issues after adjustment to them, mainly cats. We would like to keep them together as they have been together for over 3 years. Sirius loves to lounge around and chase squirrels. He does have a tenancy to dig at times. Mostly he loves laying in his bed and relaxing. Luna loves to lounge as well but has much more energy. During a walk she will find many animals and let you know she found them. In the past she jumped our fence but we didn't have one anymore so didn't know if she outgrew that phase or not. She is loveable and loves giving hugs and kisses. They come with kennels for each, (a nice one we used as side tables for couch as well) harness for each, leashes for them, bowls for food and a waterer, and what food we have (not a small amount).

These pups are in Alexandria, Virginia too!

Story
Meet Anemone! This sweet 1-year-old Jack Russell/Boxer mix is the perfect mix of playful energy and snuggly affection. Weighing in at around 30 pounds, Anemone is just the right size for all kinds of adventures, whether it’s playing fetch, chasing after toys, or just lounging on the couch with his favorite humans. Anemone was adopted as a puppy from a local shelter and was found as a stray at 1 yr old. After his previous owner never came forward to claim him we learned that he was heartworm and erlichia positive. He has been through treatment and will have no lasting effects. He’s a social butterfly who gets along great with other dogs, so if you’ve got a furry friend at home, he’ll fit right in! Anemone absolutely thrives on attention from his people—he’s always ready for rubs and playtime. If you aren’t paying attention to him he uses his Boxer hands to grab your arm for pets! He’s got a heart full of love to give and is looking for a family who will share in his excitement for life. Anemone is located in Texas. His adoption fee is $195 local or $395 out of state with transport and includes current shots, microchip and neuter.
