Story
Gus is an adorable, 50lb, Wirehaired Terrier mix. His owner became ill and couldn’t care for him any longer. This 7 year old loves to cuddle, and is house and crate trained. Gus has lived in a couple of different homes since his surrender, and this has been kind of stressful for him. We have been learning more about Gus since he has been decompressing, he is such a cute and good dog!
Gus walks pretty well on a leash, but can get excited and pull a little. Gus enjoys sleeping on the couch or the bed, and is currently learning to keep his paws off the counter. It is likely Gus only lived with one person for a long time who allowed him to be a little silly. Gus loves playing in running water and rubbing his face in the grass. He also enjoys squeaky toys, sour patch kids, popcorn and jerky treats. Gus knows how to sit and shake!
Gus likes to protect bones and toys, he will growl both out of warning, but also out of play. He likes to play fetch, but requires two toys, one to trade him for each time he brings the other back. Gus is good around other dogs, but can sometimes invade personal space and need to be told to give other animals more time. Gus has never hurt another animal; but because he will protect toys, another dog could challenge him for them. He is unsure of cats, mostly he wants to follow them around, obsessively. Gus can live in a home with 8+ year old kids and other pets, but he will need a home willing to be patient with his quirks. He is very responsive to electronic collars, beeps/tones and leashes.
Gus is super sweet boy whose life got turned upside down when he lost his owner. While he seems to be a genuinely easy going boy, the stress of all the changes will require a patient home for transitioning. Gus is currently living with one of our dog trainer/fosters.
Gus' adoption fee of $250 includes a microchip, vaccinations, and neuter surgery.
