Stay for the Movie in the Park at dusk: Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs. Hi, I’m Hilda, a 1-year-old Wirehaired Pointing Griffon with lots of energy and a whole lot of love to give! I weigh about 45 pounds, and while I come from a line of hunting dogs, I’m still learning the ropes of being a great house companion. I’m easily startled, but I have so much potential to be a loving and loyal friend. I absolutely love being around my humans, and I need plenty of exercise to burn off all this energy! I enjoy chasing squirrels, listening to birds, and digging in the yard, but I’m still figuring out how to be on my best behavior, especially when there’s food around. I sometimes rear up on people when I’m excited, so I could really benefit from obedience school to help channel my enthusiasm. I recently had spay surgery, so I had to take it easy for a couple of weeks—no stairs, no dog parks, and no vigorous play. That was tough because I’ve got a lot of energy! During that time, I found ways to entertain myself, like chewing on toys and, well, sometimes things I shouldn’t, like shoes or books. Now that I’m back to running at the park, I hope I’ll need to chew a little less. I’m close to being potty trained, especially when I’m on a good schedule, and I’m crate trained too, though I might bark for a few minutes when I first go in or if I can hear you but can’t see you. I’m working on my leash skills, but I sometimes pull or freeze up, especially when I get more than a house away from home. With some patience and practice, I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it! I get along great with other dogs, and I don’t necessarily need a doggy sibling as long as my humans are home most of the time. I do bark a bit if I can hear you but can’t see you, but I settle down after a few minutes. I’m looking for a forever home where I can continue to learn and grow, with plenty of exercise and love. If you’re ready for an energetic, affectionate companion who just wants to be by your side, I’m your girl! Note- due to my wire hair, I would love it if my forever family gave me a daily brushing so I don't get tangles. Especially around my face and ears.  *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hi! I’m Linzer, a one-year-old Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, and I’m on a journey to find my forever family. I’m about 50 pounds of sweetness with a bit of an adventurous spirit. Life’s been a big learning experience for me, and I’ve made so much progress already! When I first arrived at my foster home, I was a little nervous and stuck to one room, but now I’m exploring the whole house with confidence! I’ve also gotten much better with loud noises—they don’t scare me nearly as much as they used to. I get along wonderfully with other dogs. I’m respectful of their space, and I love having some canine company around. One of my favorite things to do is gather up all the toys in the house and bring them to one spot—my own little treasure pile! I’m also a big fan of stuffed Kongs; they keep me busy and happy. When it comes to training, I’m almost fully potty trained, especially when I’m on a good schedule. I’m also crate trained and pretty good on a leash, though I might pull a little bit because I’m just so eager to explore. If you don’t have a fence, I will need to continue practicing leash walking in my forever home. I know a few commands like “sit” and the word for “outside,” and I’m working on learning more every day. I would do best in a home with another dog since I enjoy their company so much, and while I’ve barked a bit during playtime, I’m generally a pretty quiet guy. I’m very good about being brushed and handled, which makes grooming time a breeze. Note that due to my wire hair, I would love it if my forever family gave me a daily brushing so I don't get tangles. Especially around my face and ears. I absolutely love car rides and usually get to go on daily adventures with my foster family. I’m a friendly and sweet guy, but I do have a lot of energy, so I’ll need a family that can give me plenty of exercise to keep me happy and healthy. If you’re looking for a loving, energetic, and loyal companion who’s always up for an adventure, I might be just the dog for you! I can’t wait to find a family who will help me continue to grow and thrive.
