We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peak your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://us14b.sheltermanager.com/onlineform_view?formid=46) completely. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). Story
MEET MALIBU: Hello, everyone! My name is Malibu, and I'm a 7-year-old Yorkshire Terrier in search of my forever family. I may be small, weighing just 9 pounds, but my heart is brimming with love and happiness.  I was originally living in a breeder's house where I was used for breeding. Fortunately, I had the company of many other small dogs and got along well with them. At first, I might seem a little timid, but once I warm up to you, I become a happy, carefree pup who loves life. I have a great affinity for small dogs and even get along well with cats. I particularly enjoy the company of dog-savvy kids who understand how delicate I am due to my size. It's important to me that everyone understands and respects my size and fragility. While I am not yet housebroken, I am pee pad trained, so with some patience and consistency, I can adapt to your home and become the perfectly trained companion. I haven't been trained to walk on a leash either, so having a fenced-in yard would give me the chance to explore and play safely. To keep my beautiful coat from getting matted, I will require grooming every 6 weeks. But don't worry, I'll make it worth your while with my sweet and loving personality. Sadly, due to the unhealthy hygiene provided before I arrived at the rescue, I have dental disease. However, I've already received a dental cleaning and had some extractions, so I'm on the road to recovery. As a result, I will require wet food for meals to ensure I can eat comfortably and maintain my health. I'm looking for a forever family who can provide me with a calm and peaceful environment. A less busy household would be ideal so that I can feel secure and relaxed. If you have patience, love, and understanding to share, I promise to repay you with unwavering loyalty and affection. So, if you're searching for a loving companion who will always be by your side, please consider opening your heart and home to me. Let's embark on this incredible journey together and create everlasting memories.
