Story
This darling boy is called Lil Deuce Coup and he's a lively boy that is currently being tormented by a 3 year old child.   HD us 8 years old and a Yorkie mix weighing 9 pounds.  Getting groomed this week and a full vet visit with bloodwork done and microchipped.   This guy has kept his cool since the baby was born but enough us enough. At one time he was potty trained but currently he is not.  You know the story.  Baby comes later after dog was raised as their 'baby' and then potty training goes out the window.  This is reversible and we have tips to change it.  Lil Coup deserves a long life of peace and tranquility!  Can you give test to him? Email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com  asap       PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJanuary 1, 2025, 2:47 pm

Story
Chess’s Backstory: Chess was taken into an overcrowded animal control facility where they euthanize due to lack of space. Animal Saints Rescue Society was asked to get him out safely to give him a second chance at life. Breed and Hair Notes: Chess has hair and not fur. He appears to be a stunning blend of Yorkshire Terrier and Havanese. Perhaps another breed is represented as well? What do you see? PLEASE NOTE: Chess’s hair will grow indefinitely, and he will need professional grooming. Only apply if you understand the additional maintenance and cost that these dear hair-not-fur souls need and are willing to commit to life for such care. Get to Know Chess: Age: 1 Weight: 10-11 pounds Neutered: yes Current Vaccines and Tests: Rabies vaccine: yes Distemper vaccine: yes Bordetella vaccine: yes Flea and tick prevention: yes Heartworm test: yes, negative De-wormer treatment: yes Additional Care: Grooming: Chess was just de-matted and groomed. He is very young and still getting used to a grooming routine, but he was patient and agreeable — even to a hair trim around his eyes. Potty routine: Chess goes potty on pads in the sanctuary as well as goes outside during playtime. To get him settled into a routine based on your schedule and direction for where to go potty, you’ll need to keep him in a designated place with potty pads initially. TO SEE A VIDEO OF CHESS, VISIT OUR VIMEO PAGE: https://vimeo.com/1043823599?share=copy Personality: If you are looking for youth, vitality, energy, and exuberance for life, Chess is your boy! He’s the fastest runner in our sanctuary garden. He jumps for joy at the sight of food and when he knows he’s going to get attention. At the same time, this bubbly demeanor can be quickly reined in. He had no training when he first arrived, but we have given him a few training lessons to teach him how to be a proper gent without diminishing his joy of living. So far, he now knows sit and here. He is SO smart, and he will love attending training classes with you! What Chess needs in his lifetime family. Is it you? Routine and Training Chess’s youth and eagerness to learn makes him an ideal student for positive reinforcement training classes. He is so much fun and so ready to please! Chess could be okay as an only dog in a home, provided he could meet dog friends nearby often and had lots of toys and puzzles with which to play. However, we see Chess love the company of other dogs and sleeps in the same bed with other fosters here in our sanctuary. It would be great to have a well-mannered, slightly older dog so he could follow their lead. If you need to be gone for a few hours every day, having other playful dogs in the home would be best for Chess. Chess is young and needs exercise in order to be happy. If you have a fenced-in yard, this will be ideal for him. If you like to go for walks, he would like to go with you. Chess will be best in a home where there are older, respectful children. He is in need of experienced adults who understand dog behavior like Chess, ready to guide a young dog into adulthood. Love and Commitment At Animal Saints Rescue Society, our goal is to keep dogs out of overcapacity animal control facilities and out of a re-homing cycle. We place the dogs we save into lifetime families. With this in mind, we seek families who understand that an adoption is a lifetime commitment. The families who adopt from us believe that love is not a feeling, it is a decision. Some humans still believe it’s okay to try out a dog for a few weeks, a few months, or even a few years — then discard when they get bored or don’t want to deal with emotional or physical ailments. We are looking for the empathetic, kind, and patient humans in this world who view these Animal Saints as family, and they will do whatever it takes to give them what they need. Will that family be you? We look forward to finding out and receiving your application! Requested adoption donation fee is a minimum of $650. This is to partly cover his medical expenses that our 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue incurred to give him a second chance at life.

Story
We have a wide range of sizes, breeds, and personalities who have been waiting for a long time to find homes in which to live out their lives. All have been vet-checked, spayed/neutered and updated on shots. Some are in great health and hopefully will have many years to enjoy with their new owners... others are being treated for some medical issues and need some extra care to keep them happy and comfortable for whatever time they have left. We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions. Can't adopt but still want to help this dog? Click on the "Sponsor Me" button at the top of this page to donate toward his/her care! All donations are tax-deductible and go directly toward the care of our rescue dogs. Thank you for your support!

Story
Meet Reeses, as in Reese’s Pieces 🍬 When we first met her she was terrified and wanted to rip us to pieces, but give her a few days and she will love you to pieces instead! Nothing is more rewarding than earning the trust of these scared little ones whose instinct is to lash out when scared, and watching their entire personality change once they realize they can trust you. This under 2 year old scruffy yorkie/Shih tzu mix has plenty of reason to be so distrustful. Her owner never socialized her with other people and would go on vacations and leave her alone in her apartment for days at a time. One day she got evicted and just left this scared little girl behind. Luckily authorities found her before it was too late and healthwise she’s just fine. Her emotional trauma from being left alone so much and getting proper socialization as a puppy are much harder to overcome. Once she loves you, there is no better snuggler. If she could somehow melt into you or fuse herself to your lap like some kind of siamese twin she would do it in a heartbeat. Velcro dog isn’t a strong enough term, she’s more like a magnet 🧲 who will do whatever it takes to get to her person. No gate can hold her, she climbs out of any expen, leaps or squeezes through extra tall baby gates (we haven’t witnessed all of her magical escapes, just know she’s always somehow popping up places she’s not supposed to be 😆). Luckily she’s (grudgingly) cratable though not quietly and will need some practice being left alone- it takes her some time screaming out her protests but she does eventually settle and go to sleep. Unless you want to come home and find her walking around on top of your kitchen counter or refrigerator like a cat we definitely recommend sticking with the crate training. Reeses is looking for a patient adult home that will love this crazy little monkey 🙉 flying squirrel 🐿️ cat 🐈 hybrid, for better or worse, and have a sense of humor about her antics and adventurous spirit. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Reeses in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.

Story
Moody Moby is officially on the market! Get your applications in now 🤣. Don’t all apply at once now… This tiny one is a true Second Chance classic masterpiece. There’s not one thing normal about him. He’s a tiny 5lbs chi/Yorkie surrendered to a shelter when he was no longer wanted. The owner wrote in several places on the surrender form that he could be “fisty” at times. We are going to assume they meant feisty, though we could definitely picture him putting on little boxing gloves 🥊 and using his fists in addition to his teeth 👹 He has an old break to his front leg that was never properly fixed so he sometimes holds it up and it’s kind of wonky and crooked looking. His teeth were icky and he had a dental so he no longer has those front little pinchy incisors and only has 3 out of 4 fangs, but still more teeth left than we were hoping for. He doesn’t really have the kind of hair that requires a lot of grooming but got his few little mat dreadlocks shaved off during his dental so he looks slightly less disheveled now, but always looks like he’s just recovering from being electrocuted ⚡️ He likes to be on your lap but not necessarily too much cuddling and petting, he’s just using you as a raised platform bed so he can look down on all the other dogs. He LOVES human food and dances as soon as you open the fridge, and sharing your lunch is the best way to bond with him. He’s just fine with other calm tiny dogs and has even been caught cuddling with other cranky chihuahuas, so his attitude toward people is definitely more man-made and he probably wasn’t born evil but made that way by annoying humans manhandling him and being only 5lbs learned to protect himself the only way he could. No, he does not need a sweater, or bows in his hair, or little booties, he can take care of himself just fine and use wee wee pads if it’s that cold. He’s 8 years old but plans to live with at least 18, has a heart murmur but no medications needed at this time for it. If you like tiny weird dogs and will give him time and space and not smother him with kisses and more affection than he wants, email njwoof@cs.com to meet Moody Moby in Northern NJ. Please bring him an offering of chicken nuggets and other junk food and be prepared to look and not touch Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ.
