Story
Stella, a Yorkie Mix, is a recent addition to our rescue. She weighs in at 12 lbs. and is approximately 7 years old.   Coming from a puppy mill Stella has a lot to learn and is quickly catching on. She likes people and gets along well with other dogs. She is very affectionate, likes to cuddle and sleeps in bed with her foster parents. Stella is comfortable climbing stairs and likes to spend time outside in the backyard. Walking on a leash is new for her, but she is doing well. She can, however, become very anxious when suddenly approached by someone who wants to pat her.   So far Stella has had a few short car trips. She could be crated or will sit in a dog bed with a seat belt on. Stella has a very big appetite and eats 2 meals a day. Benny Bully are her favourite treats. She does seem to have a sensitive stomach and it has been a challenge finding a diet that agrees with her. We have found so far that she responds best to a gently cooked diet. Her food is purchased at Global. Currently there are 2 small dogs in Stella’s foster home. She will sometimes join in when the other dogs bark, but for the most part is fairly quiet. Her bark is very husky. She has not been destructive when left alone. Grooming would be minimal as she is short haired. Stella is microchipped and her shots are up-to-date. She will be spayed August 12th. Unfortunately Stella is not yet totally housebroken. She goes outside and inside we have encouraged her to use puppy pads, but she is still a work in progress. She will need assistance and patience with that. Stella would probably do best in a very quiet environment with no children. Preferably she should go into a home with a retiree or someone who works from home and could be with her most of the time. August 20, 2024, 9:00 am
