Shade is a sweet natured, adorable, 8 yr old, 14 lb Yorkie/Jack Russell Terrier. He is vaccinated (Rables, DHPP), neutered, micro-chipped, de-wormed, & had a flea prevention treatment. He's a laid-back, cuddly guy who follows his hooman everywhere. He's friendly with people, older kids, dogs & a cat. He follows commands for sit, sit pretty, come, go lie down, & stay. He rides quietly tethered in the backseat of the car, &enjoys his walks through the neighbourhood.. He'd love a quiet adult home where he's not left alone for long periods of time. Other easy-going pets would be welcome companions. He is not a candidate for an apartment or condo. Interested? For an application, please contact Sue: sgaskell63@gmail.com Adoption fee $450

I will never turn down food and I must confess that I will also steal yours if you happen to leave it lying about. The next place you will find me is on your lap or near your lap or somewhere else very close by. I love a cuddle paired with a belly rub or a head scrub. I do sleep in a crate with my foster sister right now, but your bed is the place I want to be. Give me a secure yard to run in and that will be wish #3!   And now, a few words from my foster mom: Cricket is very sweet and shy and loves hanging with her people. She is always close by and very anxious to please. Sudden noises or movements still startle her. She would love a quiet home with a sweet, stable companion dog. We have not practiced walking on a leash yet and Cricket is VERY curious about what may be outside the yard. A secure fence is a must for her. Cricket would prefer a quieter home and a family with patience as she learns how to be a cherished pet. Questions? I know I’m cute and a little Princess too. I really love going outside but you may have to coax me to come back in or come out to get me. Toys are interesting and I sure won’t turn down a snack or a nice bone to chew on. I am working on my potty training and give subtle hints when it’s time.   And now, a few words from my foster mom: The whole world is new to Tinkerbell. Tink is curious and loves a good belly rub. She rolls right over on her back when you approach. Tink announces every new arrival in the home with a super cute woo woo woo!  Quick motions and loud sudden noises startle her, and she skittles right out of the room. This is one of the reasons that Tinkerbell is looking for a child free home. She is not yet used to a leash but enjoys running around a securely fenced yard. Tink will need a similar size & age stable companion dog in her home. Her furry friend will help her continue to develop trust in humans, set an example and live her best life. Questions? Story
Meet Wilbur! At 2.5 years of age, this happy, bouncy boy has lots of energy to spare. Wilbur is looking for a forever home with a fully secured yard as he is a dog we would consider to be a flight risk. Additionally, Wilbur is incredibly dog social and we feel it would be of great benefit for him to have another dog or dogs in his forever home to take behavioural cues from and to help him with his energy and socialization. At this time, both of these criteria are must haves for his forever family.Wilbur is currently sharing his foster home with a cat as well, and while he has shown no aggression, his playful and curious nature is best suited for a cat who is dog savvy. A nervous or skittish cat would likely not be a good fit with Wlibur.Wilbur loves everyone, although he can be a little more standoffish with male energy and it may take him more time to feel confident around men when there is not also a female present. He would be a great family dog in a home with older kids who are respectful and well mannered with animals. Wilbur is not crate trained and has been fine left on his own without restriction. He has shown no signs of separation anxiety or destructive behaviours whatsoever. He does enjoy his walks and his Foster family finds that he does very well using a harness and he does enjoy his walks. As a higher energy dog, he does required regular exercise and adding yard play and playtime with another canine would be the ultimate trifecta for keeping him in balance!Wilbur is not a fan of car rides. Short trips to the groomer or vet can be managed, but he would likely feel anxious and a little uncomfortable on long drives.Wilbur shows no signs of guarding food, toys or treats, but he can be a little jealous and possessive over love and affection. There is no aggression in his game, but he can be a little pushy when he wants to steal his human`s attention! As a dog who loves nothing more than a good cuddle session, he really enjoys co-sleeping with his humans, but is also happy to give lots of space once everyone has settled in for the night. Wilbur is definitely looking for a family who will meet his need for love, affection and cuddle time, and in return they will have a lifelong beloved companion who wants nothing more than to love and be loved!

Story
Zori as we affectionately call her is a precious, shy Yorkie female who was surrendered to our rescue by a commercial breeder when they retired her from their breeding program Current weight 3.8kg /8lbs, Zori is a wee girl who is still learning that humans can be kind and safe and provide TLC and patience, after her previous life was certainly not kind to her. Zori is still cautiously exploring her world and slowing blossoming to learn to trust people and be more brave in new environments. MANDATORY for her new forever home *Fully fenced yard/full supervision in person during outside time. Zori is too timid to walk on leash yet and needs to build her confidence before she is ready for leashed walks in her neighbourhood. She cannot be put out on a tie out nor live in a home with a dog door or unfenced pool. * Another suitable dog companion. Zori does best with another canine companion in her home to help with her confidence. She loves to snuggle with the other small dogs in her foster home. She has been around playful dogs and her zoomies and happy dances are starting to come out in her foster home, but she would not appreciate a dog who is in her face or pawing at her etc. * Zori requires a home without children due to her timid nature Zori has now been spayed, microchipped, had her bloodwork done, negative for heartworm and all tick diseases, and up to date on her vaccinations. Flea/tick prevention and fecal tested negative for parasites Zori is scheduled for her dental cleaning and removal of any decayed teeth on Dec 3rd and will then be ready to join her forever family after then. About Zori (from foster family) Good with dogs both in their home environment as well as meeting new dogs? We have 3 other small dogs of varying ages and a cat and she is very good with all of them. Her previous foster had larger dogs and she was also fine with them. She has no behavioural concerns at all with other dogs. How does your foster dog respond to meeting new people in their home environment and outside of the home? Zori is very timid but curious. She is interested in giving new people a sniff but needs some time to work up the courage. Good with cats? We have a cat and she shows no interest in him at all. Zori has no resource guarding tendencies whatsoever. Housetrained? No Crate trained? No Being in a crate was very stressful for Zori- she is not destructive so we leave her out with the other dogs when we need to leave them alone. Many dogs from previous breeding environments were kept in horrible tiny filthy cages so forcing crating is not something we do if they are safe to be left loose and enjoy their beds or couches Does your foster dog show signs of separation anxiety? No-fine to be left alone 3-4 hrs Please elaborate on your foster dog's leash skills. None as of yet, Zori is still slowly acclimating to her new life- we have not taken her on any walks yet until we build up her confidence How does your foster dog react when you touch the ears, tail, paws etc. Please elaborate. Zori is hesitant to be pet or handled but she does give little kisses to your hands when offered. She will not bite when being handled but does pull away out of fear. Zori is a very sweet and timid girl but every day she grows more and more comfortable. It is incredibly rewarding to see her come out of her shell. She loves meal time and will do happy little tippy taps as you bring her her bowl. She also gets zoomies in the evening and loves to play fetch with a sock. Things needing improvement specifics please We are still working on potty training- Zori does not let us know when she needs to go so we need to take her out at regular intervals to make sure she does her business outside. Zori needs to work on being handled- she prefers not to be picked up (but ironically wants to be on the couch with you- so she will run to her bed to let you pick her up from there) Zori has just mastered doing three stairs from the house to outside yard but overall is not confident on stairs which is fine since her tiny legs are very fragile as a Yorkie. Food amount/type: Zori eats 3 times a day, 2.5 oz of Bold by Nature balanced raw food (beef, pork, chicken, turkey-- she loves them all!) . Her tiny tummy does better with three smaller meals vs two larger. She is happy to do a little dance as you prepare her food and runs over to her spot to gobble it up! Potty habits: We take Zori out as soon as she finishes her breakfast and dinner, as soon as she wakes up in the morning and then every 3-4-ish hours throughout the day. She will not let you know when she needs to go-- if she gets up from a nap and starts to wander -- its time! Please describe current routines and preferences that will help the dog settle into their new home: Zori's safe spot is her bed. She loves to spend the day there while we work and sleeps all night in it, though recently she has discovered that snuggling in bed with her foster Dad and a foster dog is very nice! It will be important for her new family to understand that they have to take things at Zori's pace, and provide a positive environment for her to grow her confidence. Strengths/areas they have improved on: Zori is slowly coming out of her shell- she gains more confidence every day. Transportation-any motion sickness or anxiety in vehicles? None, travels well in her crate. Please describe the perfect adoptive home for your foster dog based on what you have experienced. Zori's ideal adoptive home will be quiet and calm. She needs someone who understands that she will need time to adjust and patience when it comes to training. She needs someone who is willing to go at her pace and give her the encouragement she needs to grow her confidence. Zori is 6yrs young and with a life expectancy of up to 16 yrs, she is not a suitable fit for older seniors/geriatric homes. Notes: * Mandatory registration with an approved trainer is a requirement for adoptive families. *Must be located within Ontario Canada *Inground/ground level Pools and deeper ponds must be separately fenced from yard Hobo Haven is located in St Jacobs Ontario. For approved families, we require in person meetings in St Jacobs ON Adoptions within Ontario only Please use this link to submit an application https://hobohavenrescue.ca/dog-adoption-application Adoption fee $800 + HST Adoption fees include spay/neuter, microchip, dental cleaning and extractions (her vet expenses will exceed $3000 that we've paid for) bloodwork, vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and all vet care, food and supplies during their time with us. We require all serious applicants to watched "Petfooled" which is a free documentary at this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XC1rUWWnxI , or on Amazon prime or also a variety of other free video sites. Our motto is "know better/do better" and we ask all adoptive families to be as committed to providing our dogs with quality nutrition as they are to providing love. This documentary is not advertising, purely just educational. An adoption application must be completed and approved, including vet references as well as a home visit (Zoom during COVID), prior to meeting available dogs. All dogs are placed in loving foster homes during their time with us, we do not have a shelter to visit. We do not allow applicants to visit until pre-approved for adoptions. Please note that due to the high volume of applications received, only those whom we feel are an ideal match will be contacted to move to the next steps of our application screening process

Story
Meet Pal! This young dog is looking for a quiet home with an active lifestyle. His ideal match would be an active single person who is not away from home for extended periods of time.Pal loves human companionship, but it does take him some time to trust and warm up to any kind of physical touch. Loud noises also tend to stress him out, and this is why a quiet environment but active lifestyle is ideal for Pal. He would also benefit greatly from having a social dog in his home who can match his playful energy, but also help him to build confidence and feel safe.If you are looking for a walking companion, look no further than Pal! He loves adventures and will have his nose to the ground the entire time! Any walk that allows him the opportunity to dip his toe beans in water are his favourite! A rural home in a quiet neighbourhood would be the best fit for this little guy, as he is a little nervous and reactive around busy traffic. Walks are a very integral part of Pal`s needs to stay in balance and as a high energy/anxiety dog, Pal is currently on Trazadone and Fluoxetine twice a day to help him regulate his emotions and reactivity. These are supports that Pal will need for life, in combination with lots of activity to be at his best and to feel his best as well.A fully fenced yard is an absolute must for Pal. Invisible or agricultural (hedges) will not be suitable for him.Pal is exceptionally clean and well-mannered in the home. He has no destructive behaviours, and is fully crate trained. Pal enjoys sharing toys while at play with another dog, but he has shown guarding tendencies with humans, so this will be something that has to be carefully monitored. We would not recommend Pal for a home with cats as he does like to chase and bark a them. We also feel that a kid-free environment is a must for Pal, and if his forever home has visitors, he should be crated as he could quickly become overwhelmed with a lot of noise and unusual activity.Pal is currently eating a wet food diet, and he enjoys liver treats as well. The true way to Pal`s heart is to allow him a lot of time and space to feel safe before expecting too much from him. While he does love to be loved, it seems like he may have experienced some trauma and is very unsure of new people. His adopter will need to understand that he will need time and patience to feel safe and build his confidence before he will show his softer side.As a hypoall
