Story
Quick Facts Name: Chance Age: 4 years Gender: Male Neutered: Yes Breed: Akita Mix Colour: Ivory (a mix of white and light brown) Weight: 23 kg My Story Hello there! I'm Chance, and I can't wait to tell you a little about myself. My journey began back in 2021 when I was rescued from a shelter in Gwangju. I was found in quite a tough situation, but now I'm ready for a fresh start with a loving family! My Social Side I'm a gentle soul with a curious heart. At first, I might take my time warming up to new people, but if you offer me a tasty treat, I promise to come around quickly! I love food, especially a variety of snacks, though I prefer to take my time enjoying them rather than gobbling everything at once. Once I feel comfortable, I love to be petted and might even show you my belly as a sign of trust. I enjoy being around kids, especially those under 13; they always bring a smile to my face! I also have a friendly nature when it comes to other dogs. I like to say hello and, once I'm comfortable, I'm happy to play! I'm still getting used to cats; I tend to get a bit excited when I see them, but I'm learning to stay calm. My Energy Level & Walks My energy level is just right. I enjoy my outdoor adventures and walks, but after a fun day, you can find me happily resting at home. I'm pretty good on a leash, although I sometimes get excited and might pull a little-just a pup being playful! Occasionally, my excitement gets the best of me, and I might bounce around happily, but I always make sure to wait for my walking buddies if they fall behind. More About Me I may not bark much, but when I do, it's usually to let you know if something interesting is happening around us. I've learned how to hop into the car by myself, though I prefer to be guided to the right spot first. One of my favorite things is toys-especially squeaky ones! I love to play and engage, and I know how to sit for a treat. It takes me a little time to show my playful side, but once we bond, you'll see my fun-loving spirit shine through! Even though I'm four years old, I still have a cute, puppy-like charm with my soft, droopy eyes. When it's mealtime for the humans, I like to sidle up and rest my face against their chair, patiently waiting for a little something to fall my way. Last Message Overall, I'm a sweet and adaptable pup, looking for a forever home where I can share my love and companionship. Are you ready to be my new friend? I promise to fill your life with joy and warmth! Videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRNg8NjTkRU&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jx8XZNSUWLLB2zHPSNEBqOM ##2260907##

Story
Kazuki is one of FOUR lovely American Akitas that came in to us over the past month. She is a lively, energetic, very friendly and happy girl. Kazuki will need to go to an experienced adopter who knows how to train dogs with confidence by way of positive reinforcement. This dog, although very friendly, has no manners and is not housebroken. She seems to like most other dogs and can live with another well matched dog with proper introductions. Due to her exuberance and lack of training, she is not suitable for young children. Older teenagers could be okay for her. At City of Vancouver Animal Services, we have a foster-to-adopt program whereby prospective new owners foster the adoptable animal for 21 days before committing to adoption. This ensures that both the new owner and the adoptable animal are well suited to each other. Adoption Fee $374 Includes: -Spay/Neuter -First set of shots -One vet visit -Microchip -Bag of food If you live in Vancouver, you will also need to buy a dog license.

Story
Sachiko is one of FOUR American Akitas that we got in during December. She is absolutely beautiful and is very people friendly. This dog does not have any training and is probably not housebroken so will need a committed and experienced adopter to help show her the ropes. She thrives on attention and is very wiggly and happy! She is the most laid back of the four Akitas we have. Sachiko has been dog reactive here in the shelter, but has cohabitated with other dogs so it is possible for her to live with a well matched calmer dog. Due to her lack of manners, this dog is not suitable to live with young children. Older kids that have experience with dogs may be okay. At City of Vancouver Animal Services, we have a foster-to-adopt program whereby prospective new owners foster the adoptable animal for 21 days before committing to adoption. Story
Nori is a sweet older lady who has been a mommy many times. She is now spayed and is looking for a calm retirement home with or without another dog. She is very sweet and gentle but doesn't have any training and is probably not housebroken so she will need to land with a home that is familiar with training dogs to help her transition to her new life. Nori is one of FOUR American Akitas that ended up in our shelter in December. She could maybe live with another very calm dog with proper introduction. Nori would be ok with living with older respectful children/teenagers. At City of Vancouver Animal Services, we have a foster-to-adopt program whereby prospective new owners foster the adoptable animal for 21 days before committing to adoption. This ensures that both the new owner and the adoptable animal are well suited to each other. Adoption Fee $114 Includes: -Spay/Neuter -First set of shots -One vet visit -Microchip -Bag of food If you live in Vancouver, you will also need to buy a dog license.
