Story
Dakota is a handsome name, kind of a "rugged" kind of name, right?? I am kind of a REFINED RUGGED kind of boy! For instance, I am a busy boy, I love playing and running with my doggy friends, however, I can lay at your feet very sweetly to beg for your attention. I am kind of like a "reverse" planter as well. I mean, you plant it and i will un-plant it for you :D I won't do it often, just when I want your attention and I am outside alone. So see?? you have great control over that urge! So I am a food and toy lover too, I eat out of a slow feeder bowl because wolfing down my food is not an option! I am learning all things toys and am actually learning how to bring the ball BACK after you throw it. I am a smart and very sweet boy. I do absolutely have a prey drive so no kitties for small furry mammals around me please. I am fully potty trained and great in a crate. Now i just need you to adopt me to complete my circle of life. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)

Story
What my friends at OHS say about me:Is there a dog shaped hole in your heart? I can fix that!I have been known to shower my favorite people with love.I would flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.I may be shy at first, but once we get to know each other I will shower you with love!High Energy: I can become easily frustrated if my energy and exercise needs are not met. I will need positive outlets and a calm environment to help me flourish.Shy and Nervous: I can be worried about new people, new surroundings and touch. I prefer to take things at my own pace and will need to live in a calm environment. I will also need more patience at the vet as I am sensitive to vet style handling. The type of home I'm looking for:It could be with you! **All dogs are by appointment only, please inquire through Petfinder, Adopt-a-pet, Rescueme.org or e-mail us directly at shelter@hbpets.org for the dogs questionnaire*** Hi, I am Goose, I am an Akita Mix, between 6-7yrs old, Neutered male. I was adopted from Homeward Bound in 2021 into the most amazing and large family, there was 8 humans to give me love, attention and play with me. I got to go on car rides and go on adventures, it was so nice after my previous family dumped me. Life happens and my home started changing over the last year and now 6 of my humans were no longer there, my mom and dad tried so hard to make it work, but I started escaping and barking at neighbors dogs, I gained weight and so my mom and dad made the heartbreaking decisions to rehome me, they spent a long time trying to find the right home, but people kept backing out, so they reached out to the shelter and the team accepted me with open arms. Goose is a very loving big boy, his family did great with him, he would really love a home with no other dogs, he loves children and does very well with them. He is goofy, knows lots of commands and really is just a big cuddle bug. My adoption fee is $150

Story
Simba has spent too long waiting for his forever family. 💔 This strong and spirited Akita-Husky mix is full of energy, loves his toys, and is happiest on long walks or playing with his human. He’s sweet, loyal, and ready for the right home. If you’re looking for a dog with personality and heart, Simba is waiting to meet you! 🐕 Adopt Simba: https://form.jotform.com/221926016430144 Full profile: Simba is a 6-8-year-old Akita-Husky mix with the personality of an Akita and the heart of a lion. He’s playful, sweet, and full of energy but needs a confident and strong adopter who understands his needs. 💪 Strength & Training: Simba is powerful and can pull when excited, so he needs someone physically capable of managing his strength. He’s learning commands like sit, down, paw, and “potty” and thrives with structure. A harness might help with his pulling. 🐾 Energy & Personality: Simba is not always a couch potato! He loves long walks (2+ miles is no problem), playing with his toys, and getting plenty of attention. He’s affectionate and cuddly but always ready for adventure. 🏡 Home Needs: Simba would do best in a home without small children due to his strength and energy. He’s good with other dogs, especially more timid ones, but does best with boundaries around toys and space. He’s also quite the counter-surfer, so keeping things out of reach is key! 🐕 Health: Simba has a thyroid condition that is managed with treatment, giving him renewed energy and playfulness. Simba has had a lot of love and care from his foster, but he’s ready to find his forever home. If you’re looking for a strong, loyal, and playful companion, Simba could be your perfect match. 💙 Ready to meet Simba? Apply to adopt him and give this big-hearted boy the home he deserves. 📌 Share to help Simba find his forever home Currently being cared in Southern California, but can be transported up to northern states, such as Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and anywhere within the US continental, if a great suitable family is willing to adopt him.

Story
This is Bingo. She needs a home right away. 2 1/2 year old lab/ husky/ heeler mix. She is a really a really special girl with a unique backstory. She is a rescue who was from a wild fire in AZ. She had some funny traits from that experience so we went through two rounds of training. She is used to dogs, cats, older kids. We have to move from a farm to a rental due to a relationship change. Partner will not keep her. She is very smart, she knows lots of tricks, she is meant for someone who will continue training her. She can sit, spin, back up, bubble space (more backing up), four on the floor (stand no jumping) and yoga pose which actually has no purpose lol. She can crawl but is out of practice. She is a love! She needs a leader and to be somebodies favorite girl. She has trouble on leash but we have been practicing (we live on a highway so walks are hard). She needs a fence. I believe she is lab, heeler, and husky. I say husky because she talks a lot and is quite bouncy.
