Story
I recently moved and I adopted an Akita from BARCS not knowing that the breed is not allowed here. They had him as mixed breed but he looks just like an American Akita. His name is Hopper because he hops when he knows food is coming. He loves to play and gets tired easily. Then he follows you around and sleeps a lot. He is a beautiful dog very protective but has been around other dogs and is fine although he gets along with more submissive doggies. He’s ok with people with recent outings and has been around people. He’s a good dog who I house trained and crate trained. I am the only one here and home most of the time. He has a prey drive so IDK about cats. All in all he is very well behaved. For those who like the breed he is wonderful. He’s not food or toy aggressive. He can’t take the heat so walking has to be limited. He’s a real sweetie who just loves food and treats! He lives for them! Hopper will make a wonderful addition to a family that will love him! Oh and he never barks!!!

Story
Meet Jonas! This sweet Akita mix is nearly 140 pounds of FLOOF! Recently surrendered due to no fault of his own, he is looking for a new home. He has previously lived with children as young as infants, has done well with other dogs (both large and small), but does need a home with no cats. If you're looking for a big boy and don't mind shedding -- Jonas may be the guy for you!If you're interested in meeting me, I am located at the Danville PSPCA on Bloom Rd. -- open daily from 12:00 - 6:00 (no appointment needed - all people in the home required to meet the dog before going forward with adoption, along with any dogs in the home with proof of Rabies Vaccine & DHPP Vaccine) If you have any questions about me, feel free to call the shelter at 570-275-0340 or email us at Danville@PSPCA.org
