Story

Wesley Butters is a super sweet 10-year-old Akita/Husky mix. He is physically healthy, super sweet with people, but should be in a one-dog home - he does not behave well around other dogs, you shouldn't plan on taking him to the dogpark. At home, he wants to be with his people, loves belly scratches and butt rubs, treats and all the attention. When I adopted him a few years ago, no one had taught him how to play, and he still has no idea what to do with a ball. But wherever you are in the house, he will get comfortable near by, curl up and wait for you to give him pets. In the past months he has developed some anxiety, which can usually be calmed with medication, but with my work and travel schedule, I think he needs a home where he can have a loving owner making sure he gets what he needs. Adoption fee includes large crate, leash/harness, medicine to get you started.

Ben was born in a high kill shelter on 2/3/2021. He was a day old when we brought him home along with his 10 siblings and his mother. All that remains is Ben and his mom Lily. They have been waiting patiently. But now it is thThis is Ben and he has been with Chloe’s Pet Rescue since he was a newborn. He is now going on three years old. We aren’t sure why he hasn’t found his “furever” home. He’s such a handsome guy. We believe he is an Akita/American Pit Bull mix. Ben is very friendly when meeting new people (after a few sniffs and he’s good to go) and is good with other dogs. In fact, if it looks like another dog wants to get into a tiff, he walks away. Ben is energetic and loves to go outdoors. He’s great walking on a leash, knows come here, stop, breakfast and dinner and is crate and house trained. One of his favorite things to play with is a ball. Something he does not like is rain and thunder. Don’t go out and buy a new bed for this guy because he will chew it up, just throw a blanket down and he is very content. Ben’s adoption fee is $25, which includes his full vetting.

Iris was found by a good Samaritan who tried, without success, to find her owner. Iris is about 1-2 years old and only weighs 27 lbs. She knows simple commands including sit and shake and will start training class on Saturday. She walks well on a leash and is good with people and children over 5. She has not been crate-trained, but her foster mom is working on that. The person who found Iris took her to an emergency vet to make sure she was ok. They did bloodwork and x-rays. Bloodwork was fine. The x-rays showed that she has previously had FHO surgery. Everything else checked out fine. She still needs her vaccinations and a current heartworm test which will be done before she goes to her new home. Iris is waiting to find her new home and is hoping you are the right person for her. We are a RESCUE GROUP, not a shelter, and all of our animals are in foster homes. To start the adoption process, email us at adoptions@earstexas.org requesting an application. Submitting an application does not commit you in any way, but helps us make the best match between people and our available dogs. Your current or past dogs must be inside dogs who have been spayed/neutered and are on heartworm prevention. All of the dogs in our program are inside dogs and are completely vetted including all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, free of internal parasites, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention before adoption. Our adoption process includes an application, check of vet records or personal references, interview, neutral site meet & greet with the dog and your family, and a home visit.

Meet Cleo!! First, and not most importantly, this girl's fur is the *softest*. She is quite affectionate, and with fur this soft, pettings are decadent :) You won't even mind all the husky 'snow'. More importantly, Cleo is fairly chill. She enjoys play with people (even kids) and dogs, with her play style described as 'gentle and dainty. She has not been introduced to cats. She enjoys her crate and really enjoys food. All food. She does not judge. Subsequently exercise is pretty important and she really enjoys a walk, so maintaining a healthy weight should be pretty enjoyable. All around Cleo is an excellent companion! Cleo has visited our Adoption Container located at Community Beer Co. and she does great! She loves everyone she meets and all the dogs. Meet the fun-loving Kai. He is a 3-year-old, 65 lb. Husky with the cutest freckles on his face & front legs & the most stunning blue eyes! He is a friendly guy who loves to greet new friends & patrol the neighborhood for squirrels. He is up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, microchipped & house trained. He has also recently learned how to use a doggie door! We adopted Kai from the shelter in Dec 2022. He had originally been a stray & adopted but was returned 4 months later. His previous owner reported he was stressed by children in the home. We have cats & his experience with them was unknown but his personality won us over & we decided to give him a chance. Unfortunately, after a year of trying to get them comfortable together he still gets too excited by our cats & we are concerned for their safety. Kai is a high energy pup who loves to play tug, chase frisbees & balls, go on long walks & run! He gets a little anxious when left alone & is very vocal about his emotions. He does resource guard food, toys and valued items so would likely do best as an only pet. An ideal home for Kai would be one with an experienced dog owner, secure fenced backyard (at least 6ft tall), no small children or cats & a parent that is home part or most of the day. Kai knows how to â&#194&#128&#194&#156sitâ&#194&#128&#194&#157, â&#194&#128&#194&#156layâ&#194&#128&#194&#157, & takes treats gently. He has made a lot of progress on leash walking & does best with a long line for more exploring opportunities! He is a very smart boy & like most huskies requires a bit more patience with training but if you have cheese, he is very eager to learn. He is working with a trainer & weâ&#194&#128&#194&#153re excited to talk to you about tools for success. We can even recommend a trainer to help with any further goals you may have for him.
