Hey Colorado friends! I'm a new arrival here and really would love to get out and explore this beautiful place with my new family! Now I just need the family! I'm a spicy young guy with lots of personality and spunk! I love rough housing with my brothers, and I think I've got this leash thing mastered...maybe...I need some work on that still! But I do know how to sit, and I do look so cute when I sit for you, if I do say so myself! If you're looking for a cute guy like me than call 719-686-7707 and set up a time to meet me!

Story
Highlights: -Needs confident dog sibling in the home -Needs patient, experienced adopter-Prefers older kids-Needs 5ft fence-Would do best with active lifestyleSally is a beautiful, playful three year old Alaskan Klee Kai. She weighs about 40 pounds. Sally absolutely loves to go outside and spend time with her dog friends. She loves splashing around in the kiddie pool in the summer to cool off. Her human friends are working hard to help her be more comfortable around them, too. While she is still not comfortable being touched, she is playful around familiar humans and will get zoomies! She relies on other dogs for the confidence she has developed and therefore must have a more confident dog in her forever home. She can be a little picky with her dog friends, so her potential adopters will need to bring their dog(s) to her meet and greet to ensure it is a good fit. Sally tends to prefer large, male dogs that don't mind when she gets vocal or asks for her space. She needs quiet, consistency, and predictability in her future home. As such, she will need to go to a home with no young children. Sally is almost fully leash trained but still requires a 5 foot high fenced yard, as she is a flight risk. Once she is more comfortable with her people, a harness and leash can be used to walk her outside of her yard.Sally is learning humans bring good things and deserves a wonderful family who will go slowly and let her set the pace. If you are a calm person or family and want to be a hero for a sweet girl who needs a hero, please apply to meet Sally at NMDR.org.- - - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Story
Highlights: -Needs 5ft fenced yard -Needs a confident canine sibling -Needs experienced adopter-Prefers older children ####Meet Sky, a delightful female Alaskan Husky who weighs 32 pounds. Sky is full of energy and loves to get the zoomies in the backyard. She sometimes hops into the kiddie pool to cool her paws and has a playful streak, having once secretly stolen an old kitchen sponge from her foster parents to excitedly toss around the yard.Sky is fascinated by animals and bugs, with a special interest in squirrels, birds, butterflies, moths, and flies. Being outside is her favorite activity, where she can enjoy plenty of yard time with a securely fenced yard. She is still working on leash training but will likely enjoy long walks once she's more comfortable.Though Sky is very shy and skittish when first meeting new people, she warms up over time. She is cautious around strangers but is eager to learn that humans can be trusted. Sky would thrive in a home with other confident dogs who can show her the ropes and reassure her that humans are safe. She also needs a family where people are home more often than not, as she gets anxious when left alone for too long. Are you ready to provide a loving and understanding home for Sky? With your patience and care, this playful and curious Husky will blossom into a loyal and joyful companion.----------Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. Because some of our dogs are very under socialized, they may not be a good fit for young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Some of our more fearful dogs will do best in a home with another dog and a securely fenced yard. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, many of these dogs come around with patience and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Highlights: -Needs a 5ft fenced yard-Needs a confident canine sibling -Prefers kids aged 16+-Needs a patient, experienced adopter #### Sara, a gentle 4-year-old Alaskan Husky weighing 31lbs, carries a heart that seeks solace and understanding. Her delicate nature and anxious disposition require a patient and loving environment.Since she's not yet experienced on a leash, a secure 5ft fence is essential for her safety, ensuring she can freely enjoy her surroundings while remaining protected. Sara approaches familiar people and takes treats, but she is still learning that being touched is safe. Her journey to self-assuredness will be enriched by the companionship of a confident dog and the patience of her new family. In the presence of a confident canine companion, Sara blossoms. Their companionship brings her comfort and helps alleviate her anxious moments, making another dog in her home necessary. A confident dog would serve as a guide for her leash training, socialization with humans, and showing her how to simply be "a dog". A home without young children is recommended, allowing Sara the tranquility she craves. Her delicate heart deserves a space where she can thrive and find comfort. If you're prepared to provide a nurturing and understanding home for a gentle and anxious soul, Sara is ready to embark on a journey of healing and companionship with you.
