This group of Klee Kais was rescued when a smaller scale breeder was shutting down. They are a little shy a first meeting, but coming around quickly. They are beautiful dogs, but this breed isn't for everyone. People often think they are "easier Huskies" but that isn't correct. They are energetic, have a shedding double coat, and tend to be a bit aloof and stubborn. They are smart, and require lots of mental and physical exercise. That said, in the right home they make wonderful companions. Please do some research on this breed, and if they sound like a perfect match for your lifestyle, we'd love for you to come meet one and fall in love! All dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, Heartworm tested (6 months and above,) and current on vaccinations and preventions prior to adoption. At the time of adoption all dogs are signed up with a unique Safe Paws QR pet ID tag, the adopter is required to maintain a monthly membership of $2.99/month for (at minimum) the first year. This helps insure your new furry family member makes his way back to you if lost. Leashes and collars are also required at the time of adoption. You are welcome to bring your own, or we have plenty to choose from at the shelter as well. If the pet you fall in love with is not quite ready for adoption, we do offer a $50 hold deposit that will insure you have first "dibs on adoption. Once an animal is available for adoption, we are not able to hold them, as there are so many animals waiting to come into our program. Our shelter is located at 10312 East 63rd Street in Raytown, MO. We are open to meet pets Tuesday through Friday from 10-6, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10-5. We are closed on Mondays. You are welcome to fill out our quick 10 question adoption survey to facilitate a quicker process. Story
I had Bear when he was born, my neices dog was his mother. He stayed with me until he was 4 months and then was adopted out. He stayed there a year or so, and I went to visit and saw that he always stayed in his kennel, only let out a few times a day. So I brought him back to my house. He is a sweet dog. He loves to cuddle and front chest rubs are his favorite, he will pull your hand right back if you stop. We ARE working on him sneaking things off the counter, he's quick too. I turned around to grab salt and my butter disappeared! He is learning though. He knows sit and comes to his name, though not when he's focused on something. He is stubborn and truly he is a wonderful baby, but...and there's the but, I kept his brother myself as my dog. Together they are a tornado. They don't hurt each other but they never ever stop going at each other playing and play fighting, and my dog stopped eating then lost a lot of weight. My dog is extremely stressed. I have had Bear now for over 1y.
