Story
Hello! My name is Ackey. For those that would not know, Ackey means "Nitric Acid" which is a common nickname in chemistry naming language. Lately, my name could be Achey, since I’m currently recovering from TPLO surgery. I’m healing beautifully, and I am looking forward to when I can be active again! A little bit more about me: I am a beautiful 6.5-year-old female malamute. I am cuddly and love my humans! I am beyond that crazy puppy stage, and would love to find the perfect exercise buddy. Why, you say? My wonderful doctor says I need to be on a weight loss program. Since I was needing surgery, I didn’t enjoy walking very much, so I packed on a few pounds. But once I am all healed up, maybe you can help me reach my goal weight! I would love to spend time with you in the great outdoors. Slow and easy progression with walks will be the ticket. I love to play tug-of-war, and I love to run after my soccer ball when my peeps kick it across the yard. And I really have fun going for a search for treats. Yup, I am treat motivated. Small animals are not a good idea with me, just because I am so big. With proper introductions I would probably do well with another similar sized dog. In the not-too-distant future, I will need a new foster home or better yet, a home I can call my own forever. My caretakers have kept me safe while I heal, so please reach out to Moonsong if you are the perfect match for me. Ackey is spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on all her vaccinations. Moonsong is excited to find a new home for this lovely girl!

Story
Hello, my name is Fenris! I am a 3-year-old male Malamute that is looking for a loving forever home. I get on well with most other dogs (with the exception of toy breeds and those creatures called cats, as I’ve no experience with them), and have lived with another dog in the past. I don’t kick up a fuss when others are around my toys or food, as long as they are polite about it. I love sticks, balls, chew toys, treats (which I take nicely), and games. I adore people, and like attention from them. I could be very happy living in a home that has children over the age of eight. I would love to be in a home that had someone there most of the day, as I tend to get lonely and have been known to try and escape my yard if left alone out there too long. I am very happy to go on rides or hikes, but want no part of water, even from sprinklers, or thunderstorms. I don’t mind being brushed and have some basic leash skills (I do tend to pull a bit when we first go out). I have also been started on something called obedience training, but I don’t know much about house-training yet. I am very smart and willing and will pick up anything I need to know in my new home very quickly. Overall I am just a sweet, loving, happy boy who needs my forever people to swoop in and make all my dreams come true. Is that you?

Story
COMET is a typical sweet, smart, young (1 to 3 years old), ~90 lbs malamute/husky who entered a local rural shelter during the 4th of July overflow where he was undoubtedly very scared. He is housetrained, he rides well in a car or truck, does not counter surf or get into trash, and stays off of furniture and bed unless invited. He is well mannered. He waits patiently for his food. COMET walks great on a leash and seems to know about heel speed. COMET loves to talk and loves the snow and mountains. Comet wants to play but recently after another dog attacked him and injured his face and paw (requiring a drain and stitches) he is reserved and dog-selective. At this time, he does not appear to enjoy the company of all dogs (this may resolve itself given a little time), but for now, he should be the only dog. Erroring on the side of caution it will be left as unsure until formally tested. He did not chase cats on walks and ignored them he was more focused on the walk. I have no idea if he is good with kids but I have not heard anything contrary. I do not know if he has been exposed to kids other than in passing. https://photos.app.goo.gl/Lsc3ZxBeaVEe8Dd96

Story
Hello all! I am a handsome, three-year-old male Malamute seeking new living arrangements. I have a lot to offer. I bond tightly to my pack and enjoy lots of affection and attention. I am well behaved in the house and can be left alone for 4-6 hours at a time. I love cuddles, holding your hand, playing in the water, hiking, running, and ploughing about in the snow. Can be adventurous and love to ride in a vehicle. I do have my “rather nots,” so here are the few things I don’t enjoy: I do not appreciate being boarded in a kennel run and may protest “the jail.” I’m too rambunctious to be around small or younger children, and decidedly not good with small animals. More on the plus side, I have been known to play happily with other large female canines, and understand and respond to the commands sit, down, stay, can balance a treat on my nose and recall more reliably than many of my breed. I am mostly okay with grooming, except for nail trims, but hey, nobody is perfect. I however, am pretty darn close. Do you want to go on an adventure with me for the rest of my life? If so, I am excited to meet you!

Story
Hello! How are you? Let me introduce myself…I am Sitku (SeeKoo), a happy, 2-year-old Malaberian (that’s more Mal than Siberian for those not in the know) with big blue eyes and a winning smile. I was found running stray in Minidoka County with a shaved coat. The local shelter took me in and advertised my predicament, but my people never came for me. So, you see, I am looking for a new family, one that will love me until my last day. I have a lot to offer in return. I am young, mellow, enjoy the company of other dogs (though ideally, I would prefer a female canine companion), I ride well in a vehicle, and am good with kids and people in general. My vet even loves me! I am truly just a big, sweet guy. I am presently in a foster home learning the ropes of house and crate training, and something called obedience training, which I am not yet fully comprehending. I am very food motivated and willing to please, I just need time, love, food, and a chance at a new life where I am appreciated. Are you that home? Applications are available at Moonsongmals.org.
