Story
Juneau (black male) & Sitka (blonde female) are brother and sister from the same litter (yup, you read that right. ;)). They are 2 1/2 years old. They are full of energy and very sweet. They adore being loved on and snuggling. Sitka is the more timid/shy one but she LOVES being outdoors. Juneau would live on your lap if you would let him. They are, however, extremely bonded and protective of eachother. They play great with other dogs at the dog park or play dates but they get very protective around our house when other dogs are near and we don't have the setup to protect other dogs from getting into our yard. They seem to love kids. We have a 7 and 10 year old who always have friends over. We have had them since they were puppies and are looking to rehome them to a loving person or family who can support their energy and their protective nature and can train them. Again, they are bonded so they can't be separated. They are best friends and stick together like glue.

Story
Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Journey. You might wonder why I am called ‘Journey’. Well, my life changed a lot a couple of months ago, I made a really long journey to Wyoming. In my past life I didn’t get any socialization with people, other than the person who was around when I came into this world. I was born the summer of 2021, so I am going on three years old. That’s a long time to not get proper socialization. Fast forward to today, I am staying at a nice boarding facility where they make sure I meet people and get play time and attention. I am a neutered male, have all my vaccinations and am microchipped. I will need a mal-savvy home, with lots of patience. A very secure yard, and did I mention patience? I will need to learn about living in the big wide world. Moonsong and their wonderful adopters have dealt with dogs like me, there are many special dogs in their past that went on to live fabulous lives with their humans. I would appreciate that same chance at living my best life. The wonderful people that visit me say I am really starting to come out of my shell. I like to follow them around when I know they have treats (go figure!). I have developed a bond with several of the great humans at the boarding facility (proof I can bond with an adopter). The important thing, I am learning to trust. Maybe if you have a friendly female dog who would be willing to help me learn the ropes we could start on the next step of my life. Reach out to Moonsong if you would like to know more about me! I am special! Available for Adoption in Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Utah & Northern Nevada.

Story
If you’re looking for a sweet cuddle bug, then look no further. I’m a young relaxed Mal Husky mix that is cool as a cucumber. I was a long time resident at the shelter and running out of time. Thankfully, folks realized what a gem I was and freedom became my reality. For now, I will be biding my time in a wonderful foster home while I await my furever home. Here’s the scoop – small dogs and wee critters are not my thing. But, playing with my husky bro and sis definitely are. And get this, I am exceptionally chill in the car and I love boat rides! That’s right people, you heard me. I thoroughly enjoy cruising on the water and I’ll make a mighty fine chilled first mate on any boat. My unique qualities don’t end there. I even enjoy playing fetch! They tell me I’m exceptionally engaged and in tune with my hoomanes. In other words, I’m perceptive, clever and quick to learn verbal commands. If you happen to have kiddos, I can be good with them as long as they are respectful of me. I am envisioning an active, fun loving home. Just think of all the wonderful adventures we could have together! I’m pretty much a turnkey pup. So make a run for it and contact my person for more information. Or better yet, fill out the online application. I will be waiting for woo! Available for Adoption in Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Utah & Northern Nevada.

Story
Good day folks! Arrow here. Just like my name, I aim to be pointed in the direction of my furever home. I came in as a stray and Moonsong rescued me in the nick of time. As you can see, I am one big handsome dude! My personality has been revealing that I am a cautious sweet boy who just needs someone to help show me the ropes. Slow introductions to hoomanes is a must. It helps me get to know you on my terms. There is no doubt that If you’re calm and patient with me, I will eventually become your best furry friend. Lately, I have been learning leash walking skills. I thoroughly enjoy my walk-about’s and I am good about not pulling. I even passed by some chickens without even missing a beat! One thing that really motivates me is treats! I will sit nicely and even take the treat with a soft mouth. It may be that in my previous life, I didn’t get a lot of exposure being around other pups. Big male dogs are a bit intimidating to me. Although I am learning that the ladies can be my friends. A large, friendly, confident female would suit me best. Or, being the only doggo in the home would work well for me too. My dream home would be having hoomanes committed to helping me flourish to my true potential and help me find out that the big o’l world out there is safe place. Available for Adoption in Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Utah & Northern Nevada.

Story
This beautiful girl is roughly 10 years old, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and is looking to find her forever family. She not only brings fur-filled love, but she will serenade you with her magnificent malamute vocals. Kaya is all you need in a pet. She is fluffy, sweet, caring, silly, playful, independent, and she has so many other great attributes! Kaya would prefer to live in a home with no other pets. She does have a strong prey drive for small animals, and was previously adopted into a home with other dogs. While she accepted the male dog, she had strong feelings about the female dog which led to her return. Due to this history, we believe Kaya would do best as a single pet while she adjusts to her new home. There is certainly a possibility that she can accept a new canine sibling later on! Kaya brings our staff, volunteers, and visitors of all ages so much joy when they visit her here at HSoP. She’s never met a stranger, and is always pleased to greet new people! She is a huge fan of pets and treats, but an even bigger fan of snuggling with her people. While she might be a bit of a bed hog, she only wishes to be closer to you! Kaya LOVES the outdoors, especially during the winter. She was made for the snow and cool weather! With her extra fluffy coat, she loves playing in the snow. Sometimes she is happier outside than she is inside during the winter. Kaya does have pretty severe arthritis in her hips and hocks, but that certainly does not stop her from enjoying short outings and being active. Her arthritis is controlled with a twice daily anti-inflammatory medication and a once daily joint supplement. All food is good food, so she is great at taking her medications! HSoP will provide her new family with one month of her medications to ensure you have plenty of time to get her into your veterinarian to establish care. Kaya is highly food motivated, sometimes to a fault. If she smells something intriguing, you can bet on her attempting to taste it too. In her previous adoptive home, she was known to check out what was on the counters, and even examine what was in the trash. While this might seem like a turn off, it is certainly something she can learn with some time and effort from her new family. You can most definitely teach this old dog new tricks! While Kaya has been at HSoP for quite some time, it shouldn’t deter you from bringing her home! She certainly has her silly quirks, but who doesn’t?! She will need some extra time to adjust to life in a home, but HSoP offers a foster period with every adoption to help the adopters make sure it is a good fit. HSoP will provide resources for any concerns you may have in regards to offering Kaya a happy and healthy life. Not sure about adoption? Ask our staff about alternatives to seeing if Kaya is a good fit for you! You can stop by anytime Monday-Saturday between 1:00-5:00pm to meet Kaya. HSoP is located at 2019 E White Ave Moscow, ID 83843
