Story
Meet Ridge! He is a 3 year old Alaskan Mal/Husky mix that we recently rescued from the dog sledding industry. Ridge is a young and playful pup on the search for his perfect match. He adores the people who care for him but may take a little bit to fully trust the environment he is in. Once Ridge realizes that he is in a safe place with people who care about him, we can guarantee that you will be taken aback by this amazing dog. Ridge loves to be by your side at all times, whether you’re resting on your couch after a long day or whipping up a tasty breakfast in the kitchen. Although he doesn’t seek out affection, Ridge isn’t one to shy away from a good head scratch. Wrestling with his furry foster sister is Ridge’s favourite pastime. Although, his new found love for squeaky toys is a close second! Ridge’s curiosity and friendly nature can sometimes get the best of him on walks, he loves to try and make friends with everyone, from people who pass him to all the wild little creatures running around! Ridge loves his furry friends, although he becomes nervous around dogs who are bigger than him, so he would do best in a home with small dogs or dogs similar in size. He has not been cat tested. Ridge is house trained but he will need somebody to continue working with him on his crate training. If he has something to keep him occupied he settles in, otherwise he may be quite vocal. Although he enjoys to be outside of his crate during times where no one is home, he will need to be put away. He is not destructive but he does think socks are his chew toys so crating is the best and safest option until he beats this habit. Ridge is looking for his people. He’s a loyal dog who needs someone who is going to be patient, committed, and loving. Somebody who understands that he's had a rough past and needs gentle love. In return, you will gain a very special bond with a very special dog. *Ridge's adoption fee is seven hundred. He neutered and up to date on all relevant vaccines. If you'd like to adopt Ridge, please fill out the adoption application located here: https://form.jotform.com/221626931360250

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.GAUGE is part of the Tool litter who came south with his 4 litter mates from the Northern Ontario community of Sandy Lake. He’s had 2 sets of puppy vaccines, had dewormer, is microchipped and been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. We have no information on either of his mother or father so his breeds and the size he’ll grow to be are just an educated guess. This handsome boy is so sweet natured and just loves to cuddle up with his people. GAUGE is crate trained and sleeps soundly in it all night and he’ll also go in there of his own accord during the day to take a nap. He loves to go on walks and like all puppies, will pull on his leash and run ahead of you. Housetraining is going really well and he’s taken outside first thing in the morning and after his meals and most of the time he’ll do his business then. He will go on the newspaper that’s put down for him in the house if he’s not taken outside quick enough. This energetic little guy loves to play and chase his toys around and enjoys chewing on the rubbery toys and Nyla bones. He has several dogs in his foster home and he plays really well with them. Although he enjoys having other dogs around he would do well with a sibling ir as an only pet. He did have 3 kittens in his foster home and he would chase them around but was very gentle with them. We feel he would do well with a dog savvy cat in the home but we do recommend a slow, monitored introduction. We do require children to be age 6 and up be caring and loving towards animals. He requires a fenced-in yard to keep him safe when he’s outside playing. GAUGE is looking for an energetic family who can give him big walks and long hikes to help him burn off his puppy energy. He travels well in a vehicle so will always be up for an adventure or two. He’s learning his manners and will “sit” for his meals and he’s very “gentle” at taking treats. Although GAUGE is a very gentle natured boy he can be dominant to his brother he’s still fostered with. Given the chance he will chase him away from his food bowl as he wants all the food for himself. He gets told “no” and they are fed far enough apart that he can no longer do that but he has to be watched at meal times.  Puppies are fun and cute but also require a lot of work, patience and dedication to training. We need his adopter to be in agreement to sign him up for obedience/puppy training in order to adopt him. His neuter is included in the adoption fee and must be performed no later than 9 months of age or before he’s 60lbs (whichever comes first) and we need his adopter to also be in agreement with this as per our Rescue requirement. You can take him to your own vet and we will reimburse what we would’ve paid for the procedure at the SPCA but you are required to still have him neutered in the timeframe we require in order to get the reimbursement.  If GAUGE sounds like a guy that will fit into your family then please complete the adoption application to meet him. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 9, 2024, 7:06 pm

We have no information on either his mother or father so his breeds and the size he’ll grow to be is just an educated guess. This handsome boy is one of the smallest boy in the litter but has a big personality. The word gentle was invented for this lovely boy as he’s the most gentlest little puppy ever born. He loves his snuggles with his foster mum and will literally put his arms on her shoulders to be cuddled. He also loves to snuggle up in her lap and has been known to sit there and watch the TV.  MITRE is crate trained and sleeps soundly in it all night. He will also go in there of his own accord during the day to take a nap. 🖤ADOPT MAY-WEST🖤 F | 9Y | 25.1 KG | HUSKY MALAMUTE MIX | UTD on shots | Too be spayed | Housebroken | Crate Training in process | Male dogs preferred | Most likely no cats | Not kid-tested | Fostered in Toronto Miss May-West is the sweetest, most distinguished lady you'll ever meet! She loves greeting new people with kisses and loves everyone in her family. After her long-standing career as the bestest sled dog, this lady is finally able to relax and enjoy retirement. May loves to be pet, especially belly scratches and will let you know if you stop too early with a reproachful look. May has been very brave in adjusting to her new life but will benefit from a forever family willing to work on building her confidence. She settles very well inside the house, but that doesn't mean she doesn't need a lot of walks! May loves to go to the park and sniff all the new, interesting things in her environment. She is very intuitive with training and is a certified prodigy in learning new commands - she learned to sit and come on the third day with her foster family! May West has briefly interacted with other dogs, and preferred males to females - with proper introductions, she would most likely do well in a home with a male dog. Fosters have noticed that she loves squirrel hunting, and would probably do best in a home with no small animals. May West has briefly met small children, and with proper introductions could do well in a home with children. May's perfect family would be content to relax at home with her but also willing to take her on adventures outside or some sprinting in the park. She loves her routine of training, cuddling, then a nap. Her forever family will encourage her to continue to become more confident and work on her training, even when some of the husky shows through. If this laid-back, gentle lady sounds like your perfect dog, apply now -> https://www.barkatthemoonrescue.ca/dog-adoption-application

Story
`It`s a beautiful day in the neighbourhood…` to give our North Shelter Region a call and find out more about this handsome boy - Mr. Rogers! Mr. Rogers came to us about 1 month ago as a stray. Unfortunately his previous owners did not claim him, but that means you`re in luck to bring him home!Mr. Rogers is a 5 year old, male neutered Alaskan Malamute. He`s got the most dazzling eyes and a wonderful personality to match. He`s a pretty laid-back guy when it comes to most things, but tends to pick and choose his dog friends carefully. Don`t get us wrong - this boy may love to snuggle up on the couch with you but he certainly isn`t afraid to show you how cool his Zoomies look in the snow! Being a long-haired breed, you can expect your house and clothes to be adorned in lots of fluff (Mr. Rogers thinks it adds character!) so regular brushing and grooming of his coat is recommended. Mr. Rogers does have some medical needs that our shelter team is happy to discuss more in depth with his potential adopters. If you think Mr. Rogers is the right dog for you, please give our North Shelter a call at (416) 338-8723 from 10:30am - 6:30pm to find out how to bring this cutie home.Thank you for your interest!
