Story
** I am currently being housed at our Oglethorpe St location. Come meet me at 71 Oglethorpe St NW, every day between 12pm-7pm. Or visit humanerescuealliance.org/how-to-adopt to learn more. Toosie is a lovable lug of a pooch. He is 70+ pounds of pure sweetness. And a handsome one too. Toosie was another lost dog in DC searching for a home. Kind people called us to save him and Toosie greeted us with tail wags and smiles. He will expect lots of petting festivals in his new home and honestly, he's a joy to be around. Toosie has met other dogs here and he might be happiest as your onesie! But if there is another dog in the home, he would like to meet them first to assure they can get along.Check out Toosie's video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnSezMh0qss

No time to come to the shelter? Meet me virtually during our open hours, note that wait time may vary for virtual meet and greets and we require same day pick up if you decide to adopt: https://waitwhile.com/locations/humanerescuealliance/r/welcome Hello -Heaven here, and I would like to make your life like heaven which is to say magical and beautiful. I was found as a stray and from the looks of it, my life before coming here was not like heaven, but I am all about looking forward into the future and how things will be better there. Because the past may have been a bit of a rough patch, I'd like to ask that we take everything a bit slowly so I can warm up to any new situation. In my meetings with staff here, I have already demonstrated that I can blossom with people who have time and patience. If you are ready for a magical and beautiful future, let's get working on creating that together today!

Story
Male, 1-2 years old, 50 lbs Personality: snuggler, goofy/funny, affectionate, outgoing, playful, adaptable, and smart. Unega is a happy, loving, energetic, curious, and all-around good boy! He loves walks, meeting people and other dogs (he says hi to EVERYONE!), and being near his human. For Unega, there's not much better than a good snuggle on the couch or bed, though he also really likes when you play tug-o-war with him and his pull-toy. Then of course, he enjoys watching you cook in the hope that he may score a taste of whatever you are making. Unega is thriving with his two canine sisters and always makes a new friend at the dog park. This active boy loves walks and playtime, then he sleeps through the night and is well behaved when left home alone for a few hours. (No need for a crate!) On top of that, Unega has learned the words "sit", "down", and "treat". He is always up for a hike in the woods and would never say no to chilling outside in a cafe after! Looking for a velcro dog? That's Unega! He will be happy to make sure your feet are warm by sitting on them for you anytime -- he just loves being near his people. Unega is so easy to fall in love with -- apply today to meet this darling boy. Unega was sponsored by an anonymous donor. Thank you for saving a life! If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

Story
Male, 4.5 years, 70 lbs. Personality: easygoing, outgoing, playful, loyal, energetic, affectionate, adventurous, mischievous, and adaptable. Rocco is the epitome of a love bug, always eager to join in on the fun whether it's playing in the yard or cuddling on the couch watching TV. His adaptable nature means he can match your energy level, whether you're seeking a playful companion or a laid-back snuggle buddy. While he enjoys his adventures outdoors, he's equally content relaxing at home, taking cues from his human companions. With his adventurous spirit and affectionate personality, Rocco will bring joy and laughter to his forever home. Rocco has shown himself to be a well-behaved and loving companion at home. Rocco hasn't had any accidents in the home, does well in his crate, and already knows the words "no," "sit," and "crate". He definitely shows a willingness to learn and grow. Rocco loves toys, and they keep his mind stimulated throughout the day. Rocco is choosy with his canine friends and would do best as the only pet in your home, with a fenced yard big enough for him to run and play in. If you're ready for a loyal and energetic companion, Rocco might just be the match for you. If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Story
Boomie is looking for his forever home! WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS ABOUT ME: The first thing you'll notice about Boomie is his funny, but cute, face and wiggly butt. After that, you'll learn that his hidden talent is chasing after toys like a new baby fawn with long legs. And jumping! Boomie doesn't jump fences, but he runs like a deer with long jumps. He also loves to relax by spending his day sunning himself on the deck, chasing balls in the yard, and snuggling on the couch. Because of his easy going nature, he fits easily into new household routines and has quickly adapted to new fosters. He has excellent mealtime manners and is receptive to corrections on walks or daily habits. He isn't much of a barker, a jumper (on people), or a resource guard-er. While he prefers to sleep in a big comfy bed with you, he is also content to be crated and settles quickly and quietly. He doesn't chase cats outright, but he is interested in them like he wants to be friends but they're not interested in that. He has done well with other dogs and people, including young children, both on and off lead. You, of course, are his favorite person and he's a snuggler wherever and whenever you want. If you're a road trip person, Boomie has done well on hour car rides, staying quiet and seated for the entire trip. People who meet Boomie say he's a very good, low key, and sweet boy who loves to snuggle and play. A bit of a teenage doof. If you want a low key and easy to love dog, Boomie is your perfect fit. ATTRIBUTES: Boomie has lived with other dogs and young kids. -------------- Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained.
