Story
Small in name, big on presence, that is Guppy! This boy is an attention-getter- the squishy face and connection seeking eyes can convince anyone to give him a little love or a free-treat. His favorite things, in no particular order, Guppy loves- kisses, booty scratches, sharing treats with his new girlfriend, and apples. Yes, apples! Maybe not that surprising but what makes it especially fun is the chompy-chomp sound it makes when he chews them, if you have ever fed a horse an apple or an apple slice, you know the sound- it is so good! We all agree, our favorite thing about Guppy is his tippy-tappy dance, reserved for his favorite people. Imagine that big beefcake greeting you at the door doing his little dance! My heart! Watch his video and fall in love with his squishy face: https://youtu.be/rnar21HAXbE?si=hkn2-tBrUQOkU-7f Guppy is estimated to be 5 years old and is likely an American bulldog/Pittie mix. Of course, given Guppy is a rescue, we cannot guarantee breed or age. He currently weighs 63 lbs and has a few pounds to gain so we expect him to top out around 65-70 lbs. Another one of our favorite things about Guppy, is how great he is with kids!! He has spent a lot of time with our Director of Behavior and Intakes son and she is constantly impressed by his patience, tolerance, and over relaxed nature around her 4 year old son. Yes he is relaxed in nature around her son but he knows how to be a fun silly guy as well. Kobe loves to toss around the toys for a little game of fetch and there's Guppy just hanging out watching the action and occasionally joining in as well. He was not bothered but us rolling around on the floor with him, running around like little minions, and wasn't phased by her son jumping on and off the couch too. Another thing that we were super impressed by was Guppy's patience and impulse control with her son's fruit bar especially since he loves his snacky snacks. Guppy would sit right next to him patiently watching, hoping for a little morsel to be dropped on the floor. There was even a time when some was dropped on the floor and her son went to go pick it up and Guppy did not go zooming over to it to gobble it up. He knew it was her son's snack and not his and when it is a snack for Guppy, he was very gentle when taking treats from him and was not pushy or overbearing. He also really enjoyed licking the cheese off of her son's fingers. He's a great pup to have around to help with the after dinner clean ups. We have introduced Guppy to a variety of dogs to gauge his play style and who he gravitates to naturally. It has been easy to see that he shines brightest when he is with female dogs—his “type” continues to be the calmer, lower-energy females. His girlfriend, at leash he thinks she is, is a wiggly senior female who has the same love of treats and laying around. The two of them together is just about the cutest and he really showed us he is quite the gentleman. If they were being offered treats, he always let her have one first, never once getting pushy. If looking to match-make your current dog in your home, Guppy would be a great companion for a female that matches his chill, low-energy approach to play and life. Guppy is also gentleman in his crate- he has not made a mess once in his crate. As for other pets, a no-cats or small animals home is needed. Whether its chickens or cats or similar- Guppy wants to chase and given his size that is an avoidable bit of chaos. On walks, Guppy’s excitement to be out and about greeting the people and seeing the sights, can lead to him pulling, so he is actively practicing leash training and making great progress everyday. The truth is though, this boy isn’t the outdoor adventure type, his interest in being outside is limited to backyard potty breaks, after that he is headed back inside to that cozy spot by your feet. He is happy to go out in the back yard for a potty break and then back to that spot by your feet or in his cozy bed. If you really want him to be a true 'couch potato” you may have to offer him a few of the good treats and even then he is going to let you hear a tiny bit of sass back. Its a cute little chatter that makes us all laugh. You will see a moment of it in his intro-video. His treat-motivated focus makes him a great candidate for continued teaching and training whether its just for fun or to polish him up to be a model best-boy but he comes with the basic- a great sit and a good recall. Another time Guppy uses his voice is to say hi from a distance when he sees someone he likes or wants to meet, it isn’t excessive but it does make him better suited for house living rather than an apartment. At the rescue when Guppy is hanging out in the living room he doesn’t use his voice to greet people though, he just hops up and comes right over, whether he knows you or its your first time passing through. From painters to volunteers, everyone got a Guppy Greeting! Guppy is ready to find his forever home, where his low-maintenance personality and goofy nature will be cherished and his booty regularly scratched. If you’re looking for a hang-out all da, full of love, companion who will keep you smiling, Guppy could be the one for you. Brooklyn is both adorable… and adoring! This cutie has a deep love for her people that you’ll feel the moment she looks into your eyes. She’s super tolerant and doesn’t mind being held, cuddled or kissed, and she loves gentle pets and sweet voices. Brooklyn has this soft and sweet side to her that will surely make her feel like a member of your family in no time. Watch her video and you'll be head over heels for Brooklyn: https://youtu.be/p7OOtLQTNcQ?si=4r-pRBIiqcn4abm4 We believe that Brooklyn is an American Staffordshire Terrier, American Bully mix of some sort. She’s estimated to be around 5 years old, and she has so many good dog skills to prove it! Brooklyn is a rescue, so these are just our best guesses! So easy to love, Brooklyn is warm and friendly with everyone she meets. She also has good basic leash manners already, and with a little more practice she’ll be a perfect walking companion in no time. We do warn you, she’s so cute and friendly that walks through the neighborhood will likely lead to many new friends and pet-stops along the way!! Brooklyn is dog-friendly, and very sweet with the other dogs here at the rescue! She loves to play, and will happily pick up a game of chase with any dog that will have her. We think she would love a doggy sibling with a medium energy level, someone that will play all day but will also respect her vibe when she’s settling in for a couch nap. Bonus points if the other dog in the home will snuggle up for a nap right along side her! Eager to please and food-motivated, Brooklyn will be an enjoyable dog to further train. She’s gentle when she takes treats from your hand, but enthusiastically grateful for treats in a way that will melt your heart. Brooklyn is also great at sharing treats with other dogs without jealousy or fear. While we haven’t seen her around kids just yet, we believe that Brooklyn would make an amazing family dog. She’s so sweet and gentle, so tolerant and easy-going. It’s easy to imagine Brooklyn living in a home full of kids, with family members all around. We can absolutely test Brooklyn with kids all varying in ages from as young as 10 months to 16 years old. Just let us know! We can make it happen! Brooklyn is ready for her forever! We think Brooklyn would prefer a home with a yard over an apartment. She could live with other dogs, but she could also thrive as your one and only. We have had the opportunity to cat-test Brooklyn here at the rescue, a kitty-free home would be best for Brooklyn. We are willing to test Brooklyn with anything you need us to in order to ensure she’s the perfect match for you! Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
Have you ever met a dog that you feel such a strong bond and connection with that you think to yourself, "this is my actual soul dog." Well that's the type of soul connection you're going to get with Shooby Doo. The executive director of 3LP noticed this about him from the first moment that she met him and has said on multiple occasions, "this is someone's soul dog and they don't even know it yet." Trust me when I say, she does not say stuff like that often. We all joke around about the way Shooby looks at the people he loves because the way he looks at you is like a sixth grade boy with a crush. Awkward to say the least but adoring at the same time. Definitely hard to explain but so worth getting to experience for yourself. You almost feel a sense of "I have been chosen" when he looks at you with those school boy crush eyes. He certainly knows how to make someone feel special. Shooby is more than a deep connection though, he is smart, loyal, gentle, a wonderful family dog, and the list goes on! Fall in love with Shooby here: https://youtu.be/GOmDGwFt1u4?si=iY29zYmZ2K1LWJFs Shooby Doo weighs in at a beefy 69 pounds, and we estimate his age to be around 2 years old, past the terrors of puppyhood but still young and trainable! We believe that Shooby is an American Bully, American Pit Bull Terrier mix, but he is a rescue so these are simply our best guesses. Whether you've been gone all day for work, gone on a business trip, or even just stepped out of the room for a few seconds, guess who is going to be there with the wiggliest happy butt. That's right, Shooby! He may even break out in his version of zoomies which consist of him scooting around, going in half circles like a little piglet in approximately a 20 second time frame and then he's done. Zoomies have been executed and it's back to laying on the ground chewing on a toy or cuddling. That's the type of reaction you can expect from Shooby every time you come home or walk through the door. He's also going to notice you from a mile away, activate those lover boy eyes, and come running. Well, in Shooby's case a slow trot because the boy doesn’t run. If you work long hours, you don’t need to worry about Shooby being sad in his kennel, he loves it. All you need to think about are those body wiggles and hugs he’s going to give you once you get home. If you’re someone who works from home, Shooby will lay next to your desk while you work, quietly napping. He will come up every now and then resting his head on your lap giving you that much needed computer break. Almost like he knows you needed a 5 second breather. He is not high energy or super needy and can match the energy of the room. When you get up and say it’s break time, his body goes into full wiggle mode and he gets super excited to leash up and go. Shooby is such a good boy already, and he really enjoys learning new tricks. The part we think he loves the most about learning something new is the quality time he gets to spend with his person. He’s a quality time love language kind of guy, what can we say. He is very smart and treat motivated too! So don’t let those lover boy eyes fool you if he doesn’t immediately do a command that was given. He likes to process things and sometimes needs a gentle reminder of the command but as long as your patient and consistent, Shooby is going to impress you with how smart he is. When it comes to being potty trained, Shooby is an expert at holding it for very long periods and also never has an accident in his crate or in the house. He knows that is for outside time only. Shooby is crate trained and is actually very comfortable in his crate. To him, it’s his own personal little sanctuary. He never fusses about going into his kennel, he walks right in, and is so quiet in his crate to the point to where I don’t believe we have ever heard him bark in his crate. Shooby loves to go on walks and he will casually stroll right next to you almost like he’s matching every step you take. He is so easy on leash! He is laid back, respectful, not rowdy or jumpy. If you sit down he will walk over and stand next to you for pets, or gently hop his front legs into your lap for an impromptu snuggle. Just imagine going to a beautiful serene park surrounding you with gorgeous trees and you're there with Shooby and you find the perfect spot in the grass to sit down, have a picnic, and you're enjoying those perfect weather summer days with Shooby by your side. He will take everything in and appreciate all of those simple moments in life with you. When it comes to kids, Shooby is a gentle king. He is a natural-born family dog, completely sweet and totally perfect with little ones. He seems to “get” kids in a way that only dogs like Shooby can. He has spent time with kids ages for and six and was so incredibly patient and gentle with both of them. He wasn’t phased by four year-old running around, jumping, yelling playing with his toys, nor was he phased bye those unexpected grabbing hands. With Cash the six-year-old, he loved the attention and playfulness with him. Shooby got a box of presents and it was so endearing watching the two of them opening Shooby’s presents together. He sat right next to Cash and patiently watched cash open his gifts and waited until cash handed him his presence. Just imagine those magical Christmas Day mornings where your kids are opening all of their presents from Santa and Shooby is right there in the midst of the gift wrapping explosion that has just occurred in your living room. You’ll find that the joy you have when you’re watching your kids open their presents is going to be the exact same feeling when you look over at Shooby and see that deep best friend connection that he has with your kids. If you don’t have kids, he’ll happily open Christmas presents with you as well and he’ll even partake on Amazon unboxing days. I love the way he just sits right next to you and just watches like he’s supporting you and giving you that stamp of approval with all of your most recent amazon purchases. One of the favorite things I love about Shooby is his love for toys, particularly stuffies. His favorite things to do is finding the squeakers. It's so funny watching him because he meticulously de-stuffs them with a plan of action in mind, and it's to get that squeaker! He will precisely pull out every bit of the fluff and pass it over to the side until he has found what he is looking for. We love a man with mission! Once he finds the speaker he likes to chew on them but is totally fine when you take it from him so that way he doesn't accidentally swallow it. He never eats the fluff in the stuffies either. He just passes it along and put it on the floor. When you're working from home or just hanging out, Shooby will keep himself thoroughly entertained performing "surgery" on his stuffies or he'll happily nap on a bed. He's a perfect work from home buddy. Shooby is dog friendly and does great walking past other dogs while he's out on a walk or when you're walking at the park. He doesn't need the company of another dog to keep him entertained or to help him feel comfortable in a home. He is a perfectly content boy that will be happiest being the center of your world. We also believe that Shooby could thrive in a home with a backyard or even a townhouse/condo type of home. We are willing to test Shooby with anything you need us to in order to ensure he is the perfect match for you! We can make most anything happen! Just let us know. Hope is her name and what she hopes for is a cozy-couch and someone who welcomes gentle little doggie-smoochies. You can look at her face and just know- she is a good snuggler and knows how to relax, and that couldn’t be more accurate. Hope is so fortunate and is being fostered in a loving family home complete with three kids under the age of 5, so a busy house, and she fits right in. In her foster home, Hope lives with four other dogs, but is happiest when she gets to be a solo-girl. She can co-exist but would love to be someones one-and-only girl. You will see in her adoption video, she was just fine with new dogs in the yard and met politely on-leash but wasn’t sparkling the way some dogs do with friends. She does sparkle when she is the object of someones affection, it is so sweet to see how she lights up. A dream home for Hope would be a quiet little place where she is allowed on the couch, her kisses are welcome, and maybe a little back yard for sunbathing.Hopes foster family shared she is both house and crate trained. They also proudly reported she has never had an accident in their home. We love that! In addition, she uses the doggie door like a champ, is quiet- no barking or whining, and is all around easy-company. One of our favorite things is that Hope’s foster is allowed to bring her to work in a veterinary clinic and she has become quite a big-deal around the office thanks to her friendly and loving approach to guests. She greets people very lovingly and when its time for things to quiet down, she happily heads back to her bed for a little snooze. If Hope is the kind of peaceful companionship you are looking for, apply today! Questions? Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. Here is your Chance! Your chance at the ultimate beefcake! He truly has one of the cutest beefcake faces with an all-star smile. He is more than his good looks though, he is your classic bully boy—chill and playful, with aspirations for lap-dog life. Take a look at him in action then. come back to read more! https://youtu.be/6Y8LClPzyWs Chance is estimated to be right around 2 years old and he weighs 63 lbs. Age and breed are details we cannot guarantee given he is a rescue but everything from his looks to his personality lead us to believe he is an American bully mix of some sort. Sure he isn’t your typical “lapdog” size but he knows that so he approaches snuggles gently and carefully, you will never see him come barreling in for love. Honestly, he is so respectful he often will wait until you make the first move before getting in close. His signature move though is what we call the love lean, if you are standing or even sitting really, he will lean his weight into your legs in the quiet, loving way. He wants to be touching without interrupting you or being too demanding. We love it, it feels like a hug. The ideal home for Chance would be a home with a yard and if it was up to him he would love to be the center of attention but if not, he would enjoy a playful, easygoing female. Without another dog chances are he will get a steady stream of new toys and he is going to love that! The day that we met him he showed us his love of toys, had a blast playing with a group of people and showed off that he will fetch a toy and bring it right back to you. An apartment with shared walls isn’t best as he can use his voice on occasion and we don’t want any noise complaints on account of this lover boy. A condo/townhome is a possibility, he doesn’t need a yard as long as he is getting regular walks for his physical health and chances to socialize for his mental health. No kitties for Chance though, he was introduced to our house cat and he was very interested in meeting him in a way that we recognize as the overly eager curiosity that leads to chasing and chasing leads to chaos and an unhappy cat. As for kids, he’d do best in a home with older ones (10+) he’s a solid boy and could accidentally knock over a little one. When he met a very wiggly and giggly four year old he was happy to get love from him and was so patient and unbothered by his yelling and little kicks on his belly while they were snuggled up. Chance is fostered in a home with a single woman and she praises the comforting presence he gives her. Not only the love and snuggles, but when on a walk or while she sits at the charging station for her electic vehicle, his size and looks alone have a major bodyguard effect. That is something we can only see as a positive! Knight in shining armor or polar bear buddy, he is a fun, confident dog with a million dollar smile. Questions about Chance or the adoption process? Story
His name is Blu only because it's his color, not because he has got the saddies, in fact he fights away any blues. If you love the big boys with simple ways, Blu is going to go right for your heart. Take a look, get to know him and see his happy tail in motion, then come back and learn more. https://youtu.be/YktbFBHE5-c With a dog like him it is hard to know where to start but lets get the “business” out of the way- Blu is estimated to be 3 years old and is possibly a Staffie/pitbull mix but given he is a rescue we cannot offer his age or breed with 100% certainty. Those are just details, what really matters is the heart of him, and thats one big ol’ loving heart. If you are looking for a running partner, he might miss the mark there, but if you are looking for a solid presence, sweet kisses, and a side of couch potato, you are in the right spot. On leash, Blu forgets he is a big boy in the sense that he needs the occasional reminder that y’all are walking together, when he gets a little power up he can pull but he is receptive to corrections simply being reminded that he is on leash. He is a big, lovable guy who is eager to learn and treat motivated, a combination that will make him receptive to learning new skills by your side. When passing another dog he will show interest but he is not going to insist on meeting them or give them much more than a friendly glance and maybe an excited body wiggle. Blue does know sit and is very patient when waiting for a treat, with a soft mouth once he is allowed to take it from your hand. Blu was introduced to a few new dogs to get a feel for his play style and the type of dogs that he makes connections with. During on-leash greetings he was polite with an obvious happy enthusiasm to meet a new friend. Once they met, each and every time we expected him to turn all that happy wiggle into a play session with his new friend but instead, he walked off, strutted is more like it. From there he was easy-company, happily grazing with the dogs, sharing treats, or simply walking along together. He may not have a super playful side but he is a great companion that isn’t pushy or insistent. We loved seeing his approach with a small, almost spicy little bully mix who wanted to make it very clear she was confident and not in the mood for any funny business if he was thinking about it. Whether he was or not, who knows, but he received the message with full respect like a confident male would. An ideal home for Blu would be one where he is either joining an easy-going female as a companion or coming home to be your one-and-only. He gets so much fulfillment from the connection with his people that he does not need a dog to be satisfied. Cozy places to nap, treats and a steady supply of toys paired with belly rubs and a few smooches is his version of heaven. No cats for Blu though, he is a bit too interested, looking at them almost like he isn’t sure if that is just a fun new toy. Either way, he would approach it all wrong and that is no fun for anyone. A home with a yard would be ideal and given his size and love for toys, older kids would be best. Older kids have steady legs and don’t leave toys laying around that Blu could confuse as a new dog toy. From everything we have seen and a detail we pay close attention to when a dog is in a home- he is fully house and crate trained! Another way the slightly older dogs are such a catch Don’t let the look of Blu fool you, he is full of love and ready for forever. Questions?
