Story
Say hi to Martin! This petite cutie is looking for his forever family. This adorable guy is less than 40lbs and is dog friendly! He was kenneled with his adorable friend Foxie but she has since been adopted. This guy has not had it easy and was suspected of being hit by a car before being found and brought to the shelter. Luckily he wasn’t seriously injured and he is healing up great! You might notice a small limp from time to time but it sure doesn’t stop him from zooming all over the play yard. He is very treat motivated and gentle when taking them. Very friendly to people when walking by. Was a little zig zaggy on leash but nothing crazy and he listens well to direction. He would do well with an active family and would make such a good buddy. He really is such a fun dog. Come meet Martin today!

Story
A special note from a volunteer dog handler: Meet Moo Deng! This beautiful senior girl is looking for her furever home. Moo Deng is 8 years old and just the sweetest thing. Our adventure started with her being a cutie in her kennel and easily allowing me to leash and get her out for a little while. She was great on leash and a breeze to walk with. She takes treats so gently and is very treat motivated. Moo Deng is dog friendly and has been kenneled with multiple types of dogs. We think she would do well with other kind fursiblings. She was a total cuddle bug after our walk while hanging out in the play yard. She has the most adorable side smile; her right lip is higher than her left and leaves the most adorable crooked smile. This senior girl needs out and deserves a loving family to live out her golden years! Come visit Moo Deng today!https://youtube.com/shorts/rZtv7YBkO0k?feature=shared

Story
Meet Esme! The happiest little hippo you’ll ever know. This girl is the sweetest thing ever. She was found by a Good Samaritan at a park and they held onto her for a few days. In that time she did great with there kids ages 7 and up. Esme is so friendly and just wants to get pets from anyone willing. In the playyard she likes to zoom around and play keep away. She was so easy to leash and walk and has the cutest little trot. We saw a cat on our stroll and she didn’t have a strong reaction just wanted to walk towards it but redirected when told. She is very food motivated. She is dog friendly, slow introductions always recommended. Esme’s tail is always going and I bet she’ll make her furever family just as happy as she is. Come meet her today!

Story
Hi, I`m Penny, a sweet older gal who is ready for her forever home!I am currently being treated with some skin medication that is helping me to feel better and look my best. Because I am an older gal I have some lumps and bumps. Vets noticed that I have a mass on my upper back but it is stable and not causing any discomfort. It may be benign (slow growing and not causing problems), but it cannot be known until diagnostics are performed. The Shelter vets have recommend that you follow up with your primary veterinarian for any additional recommendations or treatment. I went out on a doggie day out adventure on 1/15 and here is what my person had to say!`From the moment we picked her up, we loved having Penny. She rode better in the car than any dog we`ve had. No barking, panting, drooling, jumping into front seat. or vomiting. She walked smoothly, mostly slack leash. She curiously looked around and wanted to see, sniff everything, as if she`d never been out and about before. She didn`t act tired or want to slow down and rest even though we spent hours walking, only sometimes sitting to take a break. First in Old Sac, we walked up and down the main street and along the river path. We saw people, a few dogs, a horse mounted policeman. She was very respectful, didn`t react. One couple thought she was such a good dog, they`d like her but lived in an apartment, no pets allowed. We drove to our house and gave Penny a half cup dog food and water. She also gladly and gently accepted treats from our neighbor before going to the park nearby. She walked around, more interested in squirrels than children playing or people walking dogs. Then we strolled along the levee, where it was quiet, few people. Finally we drove to Starbucks and relaxed, people watching. Penny loved her pupuccino and all her treats. We had a wonderful day, and it was sad to take her back. Penny watched kids in the playground. They appeared to be toddlers or young elementary school age. She didn`t react much as they played, laughing and talking, or when one little boy tried to approach her before his father said to come back. She was mainly interested in looking around quietly, calmly, no barking, no pulling on leash. No other contact with children. Penny is FRIENDLY and HAPPY with us, strangers who admired her, neighbor who gave treats and wanted her to come in and play with her dog (but wasn`t allowed to). QUIET and RESERVED, no barking or noises in the car, on walks. GREAT T

Story
**This is a courtesy post. Pikachu is NOT a YCSPCA dog and all adoption inquiries will be sent to his caretaker.** Pikachu, I choose you! Pikachu is a 6-year-old handsome hunk of love looking for his fur-ever home. He is your typical house hippo who loves to chill and go for leisurely strolls around the neighborhood. He is obsessed with tug of war and cuddling on the couch with his foster mom. Pikachu is fully grown and weighs about 70lbs, however, he could probably lose a little bit of weight. Pikachu was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Southern California after he was placed on the euthanasia list. He found himself at the shelter after his previous owner was arrested and no one was able to take over his care. He previously lived with a small dog, who was adopted from the shelter. Pikachu is a quiet and gentle soul who is looking for a family that enjoys pittie cuddles and slobbery kisses. He is the perfect mix of independent and social and enjoys attention, but also is happy to keep to himself when you are busy. He is confident and curious and enjoys venturing out into the world to check out all the smells. Like the character, Pikachu, he’ll basically do nothing until you want him to do something and then he is so game!  Pikachu has done well living with another large dog and has been very respectful of her setting boundaries with him. He could do well living with another chill dog, or as an only dog. Pikachu has never been around cats, so his foster mom isn't sure how he would do living with them. Pikachu seems like he could do well living with respectful kids 10 years and older. Pikachu is house and mostly crate-trained. He is a very food-motivated boy and has been doing great learning his basic manners. He has done well being left alone in his crate for short periods and overnight. Pikachu is a sweet and loving boy and could be a great first dog for someone looking for an easygoing companion. If he sounds like he might be the boy for you, email us at dogs@yolospca.org! Pikachu is neutered, up-to-date with his vaccinations, and up-to-date with his monthly preventatives. **This is a courtesy post. Pikachu is NOT a YCSPCA dog and all adoption inquiries will be sent to his caretaker.** November 7, 2024, 12:17 pm

His smile and sunny disposition will never fail to brighten your day.Donner is looking for a home that’s active and will be committed to teaching him basic commands and manners. He has done great in a home setting and loves meeting new people and dogs. He’ll do well as an only dog or with a dog sibling! We do not know how he is with cats, but he could have potential to have a cat sibling that is good with cats if the owners are willing to work on slowly introducing them. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Story
Are you all about low-key and chill vibes? Then meet our sleepy house hippo named Bullseye! Due to his kennel stress behavior, we expected he would be a high energy pup — but when he went on his first day trip he was the chillest black licorice block we’d ever seen. He’s been on several more day trips and every single time his behavior outside of the shelter is night and day: stressed in the shelter and totally relaxed in a home environment. Bullseye appears to be potty trained and crate trained. His exercise needs are low-medium and grooming him is a total breeze. Bullseye’s ideal home has a backyard or sunny patio for napping, a soft bed and blanket for more napping, and a cuddly sofa for EVEN MORE napping. We do not recommend him in a home with other animals but he has done great with people and dog-savvy kids. Even if he doesn’t want to live with other animals, he is easy to walk and non-reactive at a distance. He is 1-2 years old and weighs around 60 lbs. Email adopt@yoloshelter.org if you are interested in meeting Bullseye.   His $50 adoption fee is sponsored by Blue Note Brewing Co.!   All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control.
