Story
Meet Cora, a 3-year-old pit bull who’s as sweet as she is sassy! With her adorable wiggle butt and love for cuddles, Cora is a true cuddlebug once she feels comfortable around you. While she can be a bit shy at first, give her some time, and she’ll warm up to you with all the love and affection you can handle! Cora is a bit selective with both people and other dogs, so she’ll thrive in a home where she’s the only pet or with a family that understands her unique social needs. She’s good on a leash, making walks enjoyable, and she’s a big fan of tennis balls—get ready for some fun fetch sessions! When it comes to playtime, Cora gets vocal—her excitement is hard to contain when she’s having fun. She’s also toy-motivated, which makes her a joy to train and engage with. However, she’s protective of her food, so she’d do best in a home where her space is respected during meal times. Cora is looking for a patient, understanding family who can give her the time and space she needs to truly shine. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will reward you with cuddles and playful moments, Cora could be your perfect match!

Story
Meet Sarabel: A Tiny Dynamo with a Big Heart! Age: 2 years Breed: Pit Bull Mix Size: Small but Mighty Sarabel is a bundle of joy wrapped in fur, with a heart as big as her smile! Despite having IVDD (a condition where the discs between the vertebrae can degenerate or rupture, putting pressure on the spinal cord), which gives her a unique little walk, she never lets it slow her down. She’s still full of playful energy, always ready for an adventure (especially if treats are involved—she’s VERY food motivated!). When she’s not bouncing around with her signature wiggle, Sarabel is the ultimate cuddlebug. She loves snuggling up close, soaking in all the love and warmth she can get. Her big, beaming smile is contagious, and her happy spirit reminds everyone that life is all about enjoying the little things—like belly rubs and snack time! Sarabel may move a little differently, but in her eyes, she’s just like any other playful pup. And honestly? She wouldn’t have it any other way! New families will need to be aware that Sarbel should keep her current figure - she will need to maintain weight as excess body mass can put strain on her back. While she is food motivated and loves treats, selecting healthy, low-fat snacks like carrots, apples, and pumpkin puree would be best for her! Dog Qualities EXERCISE NEEDS: Daily Workout EASE OF TRAINING: Willing FRIENDLINESS WITH PEOPLE: Outgoing PLAYFULNESS: Amateur FRIENDLINESS WITH DOGS: Tolerant LEASE MANNERS: Pulls Often

Story
She’s young, she’s fierce, and she’s got energy that just won’t quit! Rogue is a 7-month-old pitty pup with a wild spirit and a heart of gold. Much like her X-Men namesake, she’s bold, full of personality, and always ready for action. Whether she’s zipping around at full speed or engaging in some rough-and-tumble play, Rogue brings excitement wherever she goes. But don’t let her tough exterior fool you—Rogue has a soft side too. Give her a treat or her favorite toy, and you’ve got her full attention. She’s highly food and toy motivated, making her a quick learner (as long as you’ve got the right bribe!). Just like the legendary Rogue, this pup can be a bit intense at times, but with the right guidance and plenty of playtime, she’s the perfect sidekick. If you're ready for a powerhouse pup with a little sass, a lot of energy, and an endless supply of love, Rogue is waiting for her next adventure—will it be with you?

Meet Frosty Flake, your future best friend! This charming 2-year-old bulldog mix is as sweet as they come. With his snowy white coat and irresistible wiggle butt, Frosty is sure to melt your heart. He’s a cuddlebug through and through, always ready to snuggle up after a fun day of playing. Frosty is also a food-motivated little guy, which makes him easy to train and always eager to learn new tricks! He knows the basic commands and walks great on a leash, making him a joy to take on daily strolls. He’s good with other dogs, so he’ll fit right into a multi-pet household. Though he is hearing impaired, Frosty doesn’t let that slow him down. He’s just as playful, loving, and engaged as any other dog, and he’s incredibly responsive to hand signals or "Sit" and "Shake" and other visual cues. He may even surprise you with how quickly he picks things up! Frosty has exhibited excellent house-training here in the kennels, and with a little patience, he’ll make an even more wonderful addition to your family. If you're looking for a sweet, loving, and loyal companion who just wants to be by your side, Frosty Flake is the pup for you!

Story
Meet Coconut – The Sweetest Warrior 🐾🥥 Coconut isn’t just a pup—he’s a survivor. This 1-year-old pit mix has been through more than most dogs ever will, but you’d never know it by the way he loves, plays, and embraces life. When he came to us, he had suffered serious injuries, with both legs on his right side broken—likely from being hit by a car. But Coconut has proven that nothing can keep him down. After surgery, a plate and pins in his elbow, and a repaired hip, he’s back on his paws and ready to love. Though he’ll always walk a little differently, Coconut doesn’t let it slow him down. He’s playful, affectionate, and full of joy, with a heart as big as his smile. He may need some continued pain management, but what he needs most is a family who will see him for the incredible dog he is—resilient, loving, and absolutely perfect in his own way. If you're looking for a best friend who will remind you every day what it means to be strong and love unconditionally, Coconut is waiting for you.

Story
Jasmine is a young pup who was brought to us as a stray. She was diagnosed with hip dysplasia but does not need surgery. She just needs regular exercise and we are waiting until after her first heat cycle to have her spayed. The spay is paid for by our shelter but the adopter would have to bring her back to our vet in Brandon for the procedure. She is super sweet, playful and loves toys. She is athletic and would love an active family. The first step is to complete the application on our website at https://www.rainingcatsanddogsshelter.com/adoption. Once your application is approved, our adoption coordinator will reach out to you by email. You can also follow up by email with our adoption coordinator at rainingcatsanddogsvolunteer@gmail.com. We appreciate you being patient with us as we are all volunteers and many of us have full time jobs. We will get back with you as soon as we can. We hope to be able to match you with a new fur baby!

Adopted Angel from a friend when the owner unfortunately passed away. He has been a loving affection dog to my family since then. High energy and very trainable. House trained and doesn’t leave a mess in the house when left unattended. Due to moving into an apartment we cannot take him with us. He is great with people but not with cats and ready for a new home.

Story
Apollo is a purebred red nose American Pit Bull terrier. He is a year and two months old. He was raised by a family of five with children aging from 4-10. He does great with other dogs. He has been in the house with two cats since he was a puppy, He does chase them around but he has never harmed them. He is a good boy, he is very energetic, He knows basic commands such as sit, stay, paw, wait, and take it. He does need anxiety medication if you are leaving for an extended period of time. We crate trained him but because of his anxiety he escapes every crate we've ever put him in. It would do best with someone that can take him to the beach or parks or can stay home with him majority of the time. We have a 10x8 outdoor kennel but he did put a hole in it so if you're interested we can discuss that it can be fixed. He has not been neutered but his ears have been clipped.

Story
Sweet, Shy Betty was found in a ditch in a Strawberry Patch in January 2022. She was very thin, was covered in fleas and loaded with worms. Betty is healthy, heartworm negative and is now fully up to date with vaccinations. Betty is a timid lady, she requires some time to decompress in a home. We have been working with her and she has done wonderful in her foster - really coming out of her shell. She is still a little afraid of new things but walks well on a leash with proper equipment, is crate trained and housebroken. Betty is 9 years old and 55lbs. *She will need a secure, fully fenced yard* We recommend no kitties for her and no other dogs. Betty attended obedience classes and learned how to sit / stay. Story
Have you ever wanted to live with a parkour enthusiast? Like the sounds of an amateur stalker who still gives you space for whatever you're doing? Don't believe a dog can bark with his whole body? Do we have the ginger boy for you. Ralph loves making new people friends, but wants to be the only fur baby in your life. He is potty / crate trained and knows all of his basic commands. This boy is a people pleaser who is happiest while learning new things you teach him. Ralph loves his balls and stuffies and wants a furever partner who will dedicate time to play with him every day. Ralph insists on playing with older children as his zoomies can sometimes be mistaken for an out-of-control ballistic missle. He loves bacon and understands it might take an eight-hour day to bring some home. That's why he is non-destructive and completely comfortable spending time in his crate. Over the last six months, Ralph has improved his daily stroll around the neighborhood but would like to spend more time working with you on his pulling on leash. Ralph is also a busy guy who would prefer that you manage his toy collection to avoid any issues with guarding or overstimulation. His heart is so full (of worms) but treatment will be finished this fall. If Ralph sounds like the pawfect partner for you or your family, act now because supplies are limited.
