Hi there. I`m Molly! I was recently returned to PCAPS and searching for a new home. My previous family says that I did good with other dogs and kids. I loved to sleep with my humans at night. I tend to chew things up when my family is away so make sure to put up those shoes and other stuff if I`m left out! I also need some work with my potty training!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Athos needs a special champion. He was born here at the shelter a little over 2 years ago and has been adopted and returned twice since then. Each experience carries its scars and unfortunately, Athos's scars will take commitment to overcome. There are many things that make him good, lovable, and even ideal in many ways: he rides well in the car, loves to play ball with people, doesn't beg for human food or get on the furniture without permission. He listens well on walks, even when he notices a squirrel he'd probably like to chase. He likes to people watch out the window and gives kisses when he's feeling cuddly and affectionate. However, something has happened to Athos that prompts him to react true to the expectations of his breed when triggered, and he will need the work of a strong handler who understands the Belgian Malinois makeup. They are instinctively protective and benefit highly from early socialization, and it is evident that Athos did not receive that. Athos has completed a board and train program with a trainer specialized in his breed, but that doesn't override his instincts in the moment when he is startled. For example, Athos has fallen asleep comfortably on the couch with a trusted person, only to be startled awake when an unexpected family member entered the room. Hackles were up, teeth were shown, and growls were heard as his instinct told him he was protecting his person from an intruder. Once he realized he recognized the visitor, he was fine and calmed down but it is in those moments Athos can be menacing. People with hoods up (like sweatshirts or coats) spark the same kind of fearful reaction. Because of his lineage, combined with the unsteadiness of a life in and out of the shelter system, Athos will only be considered for adult-only homes with a history of dog experience, preferably with the Malinois or GSD breed. He is gorgeous, smart, and affectionate with the people he knows, so the person with the right experience who can help him work through his reactions when startled will have an amazing dog for life. If you are interested in Athos and would qualify, please give us a call and a manager will discuss him with you further. Athos/Male/2yrs. 3 mo./Belgian Malinois and American Pit Bull Terrier Basic Commands: "Heel," "sit," "stay," "come," "drop"Cat introduction in a controlled environment: former adopter states good with catsGood with dogs? Story
Moodonna is really enjoying her time in her foster home, but this sweet girl is ready to be adopted!Moo's foster mom says: "Her favorite things to do are to creep on the neighbors, watch the neighborhood critters, or pass out on the hot concrete. As far as the outdoors goes, we have her on a tether whether she is in the front or back yard. I'm a helicopter pup parent so I'm always out with her. She very quickly learned that when I say "careful" she is close to the end of her tether so she can slow down.Moo gets so excited she jumps on people impulsively still, but listens as soon as you say "off". She gets the zoomies often some days, especially when she is seeing the boys or my partner after they've been gone/busy for a few days. When she is inside, no potty accidents, no getting into things she isn't supposed to. After slowly testing her, we now are more than comfortable with leaving her to roam the house freely when we are out. Moo prefers the days where I work from home or my partner is working on the truck outside. You guys must have done some amazing work with this girl! Thank you!Moodonna is 5-years-old and weighs 48 lbs!Adoption Fee: $100Estimated Date of Birth: 12/1/18Intake Reason: Transferred in from animal control with mom and littermatesAnimal will be spayed and up to date on vaccines, and microchipped prior to adoption. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Bailey carries the emotional and physical scars of a hard past. She is learning to trust our staff and volunteers; however, there are still a few men that she still will not allow to freely be in her space. She also has not learned to trust hands in her neck region to clip/unclip leashes so will need patience and work in this area. She has been on a few outings and rides well in a car. She seemed non-reactive to cats in a controlled environment but definite slow intros will be necessary. We have not done direct dog to dog intros but she seems non-reactive to other dogs in the kennel environment. The biggest obstacle to adoption for Bailey is building trust with a human so you can safely handle her if she would get in a tussle with the dog or cat. While she currently has no bite record, and does a great job of giving signals for when she is being pushed beyond her comfort level, we do believe that she will bite if someone doesn't read her cues so it is very important that an adopter understands that they have to go at her pace. Leash Manners: excellent, heals and sit heals Basic Commands: sit, down, heal, drop, stay, recall. Rides great in the car and waits if you go in some place. Cat introduction in a controlled environment: no reaction she is friendly toward them in controlled environment Good with dogs? Eligible for dog intros has played with other dogs here does not like some dogs Special Notes : does not like leash clipped on and can be touchy about using a slip lead in and out of her kennel (reactive with slip lead only in her indoor kennel) Adoption Fee: $100Estimated Date of Birth: UnknownIntake Reason: Transfer from another shelter, at risk of euthanasia at time of transferAnimal will be spayed and up to date on vaccines, and microchipped prior to adoption. If their kennel card on display at TAPS shelter facility is marked as unaltered, the animal will be altered prior to being released for adoption. Story
The best dog- Chili Dog- is still looking for his humans. He continues to be a strong contender for shelter/volunteer fave... ok, that might be biased....???????... but seriously, this boy is incredibly fun, happy, playful and loving. He's really the full package of a dog who loves people and loves to play with other dogs. He's great at the shelter and when he's off-site. I was his handler at a recent corporate event at ATS (my old stomping grounds) and he was a total gentleman and beloved by all who scratched his ears and booped his nose. You definitely want to meet this handsome one-year old!
