Story
Hello! My name is Sunny for my sunny disposition. It is the perfect name given to me by the kind Chicago police sergeant who came to my aid after the neighbors reported seeing someone tossing me from a car. I was left behind but found a small girl and her nice Mom to play with in the park while I was waiting for a rescuer. That nice officer realized I was pregnant with puppies and reached out to some rescues and CDR stepped up to the plate! I found a great foster home that supported me and took amazing care of me and my adorable TWELVE puppies! Now that they have gotten old enough to find homes of their own….it’s MY TURN to find my furever home! I am a perfect short stack, medium-sized pup, weighing in at just about 45 pounds. I am house-trained, working on my crate and GREAT with kids. I am a little slow to warm up to men, but a couple days of being patient while I figure out them out – and of course a steady stream of treats never hurt, and I’m totally fine! I have had the chance to meet a couple of dogs while on my rescue journey and I prefer slow introductions. I seem to do the best with laid-back male dogs or could be very happy in a home as an only pup! If you would like to meet me, please fill out a preadoption application and a CDR volunteer will get back to you just as quick as they can! Cuddles and kisses-Sunny

Story
Hi there! My name is Belden, and I'm a beautiful male puppy looking for my forever home. I may be young, but I've got a whole lot of love and excitement to bring to a family who will cherish me. With my good looks and my soulful stare foster mom says I’m the heartbreaker of my family- which by the way was found the day after New Year’s Day in a box! All of us tossed to the street in the cold. AI was found the day after New Year’s Day in a box with 7 other puppies. A kind Uber driver turned us in to the Chicago police station who then reached out to CDR who took us all in! I’m super smart and always paying attention, watching what’s going on…..and keeping an eye out for treats especially. Treats are my favorite thing in the world. Except for toys- I love toys. Almost as much as cuddles and pets. It’s really hard to pick favorites now that I think about it- I like everything! I'll thrive in an environment where I can get plenty of exercise and playtime, so an active household would be ideal for me. Training and socialization are also important for me to grow into a well-behaved and happy companion. If you think you could be the perfect match for me, please fill out an adoption application and come meet me! Kisses and cuddles-Belden

Story
Hello! My name is Radar and I am a total goofy love bug! My heart is as big as my ears! I would be the perfect match for a family with kids or other canines because I am extremely dog/kid-friendly. In fact, my fosters say I would thrive in a home with another playful dog to match my energy and/or kiddos to play with. I feel the most confident around other dogs and learn quickly from following their lead. I have been trusted alone in the house to free roam with the other dogs (after a lot of puppy proofing of course). I absolutely LOVE to cuddle and will curl right up on your chest all night long.and sleep through the entire night. My foster says I have such a funny, sweet personality and the perfect pup to take on all your adventures! Looking for a social pup? Yep, it's me! When we are out and about, I want to meet everyone! And last thing from the foster...she says I am overall a very happy sweet puppy that would do great just about anywhere! My ideal home has lots of love and patience and time to work on my home life skills and if you have a couple of kids or another dog or even both, I AM YOUR GUY! If you would like to meet me, please fill out a pre adoption application and a CDR volunteer will get back to you just as quick as they can! Cuddles and kisses-Radar

If you are interested in OLIVIA or in adopting a pup in general, the first step is an adoption application. Download an adoption application here Please email the completed application to adoptionteam4.woofriver@gmail.com Please submit an application rather than an inquiry with no application attached. This adorable girl is OLIVIA! She is a sweet, sweet girl who can be a little shy when you first meet her. However watching her personality bloom as she becomes comfortable with her new surroundings is incredibly rewarding. OLIVIA is perfectly content to spend a lazy day on her dog bed watching a movie with her person, or, if you’re in the mood for some exercise, OLIVIA is there and ready. She absolutely loves going for walks and is learning how to walk well on a leash. OLIVIA is absolutely fabulous with other dogs. She is exponentially happier and more confident with canine companionship, so she is only available to forever families who have at least one other resident dog. She will fill your heart with joy and your life with happy memories for many years to come. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Talk about enthusiasm for life! This is Capone. He goes from full-tilt mid-air toy-catching mode to champion snuggling in no time flat. Yes, he's a meatball. Chunky headed, slobbery, and built like a Mack truck. But Capone's heart is pure gold and his big, brown, puppy dog eyes...well, you'll have to come see for yourself. This boy is all about the toys. His pink ball -- ideal for catching in mid-air, and a favorite stuffie -- for carrying on walks. A fenced-in yard for games of fetch would be ideal. Because what is life, if not fun, right?Exceedingly treat-motivated, Capone is a good learner. He is house-trained and knows several commands. He would prefer to be the only dog in his household because he's still working on his manners with other dogs. No cats for him - they're too much fun to chase. Capone enjoys playing with older children, but little kids might inadvertently get bowled over! He loves, loves, loves car rides and is a good passenger. When done playing, this handsome lug is ready for some serious cuddling. Get ready for slobbery kisses, because Capone has loads of love to share.Need a reminder that life is equal parts fun and love? Capone will show you how to live life to its fullest.Interested in adopting this dog? Story
Hi there! Let me tell you about my new bestest friend, Doodle Bug! Doodle Bug is a super sweet 3.5-year-old Pit Bull Terrier. She's so good at going to the bathroom outside, just like a big girl! Doodle Bug loves to play and chase after a ball. She's still learning to bring it back, but she tries really hard.Doodle Bug always wants to be close to her people. She likes to eat her food in her crate because it's her special safe place where her brothers and sisters can't steal her yummy meals. Isn't that smart?Sometimes, Doodle Bug gets scared if people move too fast, so you have to be gentle and slow when you stop by to say "Hi." She loves kids and other doggies, but we're not sure how she feels about kitties yet.Doodle Bug is a good traveler and loves car rides. She enjoys being outside so much, even though she's still practicing how to walk nicely on a leash. She already knows the basic commands like "sit," "down," "come," and "no," - what a good girl! Doodle Bug is the best friend anyone could ask for, and she loves to be loved! Will you let her love you?Interested in adopting this dog? Story
Chato found himself at Chicago Animal Control, abandoned by the family he had been loyal to his entire life. He was in very bad shape and appeared to be very old due to the neglect he suffered. His skin was terribly infected and hope of ever finding love and happiness had been extinguished from his eyes. We could not let this cute Pocket Pittie die without knowing the kindness of a human touch or that every day does not need to be filled with fear and mistreatment. Once pulled from Animal Control, Chato knew instantly that he was safe and life would be better….and it sure was!! Chato’s medical needs were immediately addressed, his skin issues were resolved, and his spirit slowly returned. Today, Chato is a silly little pup, recovered from his past, and looking to continue to live the happy healthy life he so deserves…..with a family of his own. Chato is just 4-5 years old, and weighs about 35lbs…..tiny for a Pitbull! He is very playful and spirited, and loves being with people. He enjoys cuddling and definitely being petted too! He takes treats gently, and sits nicely for them. He is housebroken and is eager to please! Chato is sure to make a wonderful addition to any family worthy of him!! Chato walks nicely on a leash; he does not react when he sees other dogs out and about. However, Chato does need to be an only dog; he’s not fond of sharing his home with other four-legged creatures…dogs or cats!! An ideal home for Chato is with a family with significant Pitbull experience, but having no other dogs currently ; Chato absolutely deserves to receive all the attention for himself. He’d love a fenced yard and deserves a family willing to spend time with him and include him in all family activities. Chato may enjoy the company of older children but younger children may be too much for him. Chato is fully vetted, up-to-date on all vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and heartworm negative/on year-round heartworm prevention. A solid, verifiable vet history for all past pets is required for all adopters of BAARK Dogs. If you are interested in adding Chato to your family, please email BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or call 847-852-0895 for an adoption application.

Story
Agnes is a very pretty, rather petite Pitbull who had a terrible life before she was rescued and taken to Chicago Animal Control. Once joining BAARK Dog Rescue, her life changed for the better; she would never suffer any abuse or neglect again. Agnes had been seen for several weeks, living in a junkyard, finding shelter under a porch and among the junk. Every once in a while she got out of the fenced area to scavenge the neighborhood for food, only to have kids throw rocks and bottles at her and try to hurt her. She was scared, alone, and starving. It took a couple of caring, compassionate rescuers a couple of weeks to capture her. She was brought to Chicago Animal Control, still very scared and totally withdrawn. We are grateful we at BAARK learned of Agnes and have been able to help her overcome such past neglect, abuse, and fear, and she’s now ready to move along to her forever home. Agnes is estimated to be 6 years old. She weighs 39 lbs. An ideal home for Agnes is with a family having Pitbull breed experience, able to provide Agnes the attention, care, and compassion she deserves, without her having to share it with other canine family members. That is, she’d do best as an only dog. She is not good with cats. Agnes would love a nice, safe and secure back yard of her own. A solid, verifiable vet history for all current and past pets is required for all adopters of BAARK Dogs. Agnes is fully vetted, up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped as well as heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm preventative. If you are interested in adding Agnes to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895

Story
Birdie is as sweet and loving as her name might suggest. She’s a senior Pocket Pittie, estimated to be 8 – 10 years old. When Birdie joined BAARK’s Safe House this last year, it was very clear that she had spent those past years in a terribly neglectful, possibly abusive, situation. She was horribly skinny, had a terrible skin infection, and a significant mass (which was removed and determined to be benign). Birdie is a gentle, laid back girl. She loves everyone and everyone who has met her has immediately fallen in love with her. Overall Birdie is an “easy” pup but she can get nervous around other dogs. We suspect this relates to a bad experience in her past. An ideal family for Birdie is one with prior Pitbull experience, a home in which she can be the only dog, receiving all the attention!! However Birdie may be fine with a laid-back senior male, who will not challenge her or compete with her for treats and food. Birdie’s exposure to children has been limited but she really enjoys being around older children. She enjoys being outside, car rides, naps, and being with her people. Birdie is fully vetted, up-to-date on vaccinations, is heartworm negative and on year-round prevention, spayed, and microchipped. If you would like to add Birdie to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@org or 847-852-0895. Birdie is located in the Chicago suburbs. We adopt our dogs only locally.

Story
Meet Lady Lady is a sweet senior Pittie Mix thought to be about 10 years old. She’s a smaller girl, about 45 lbs. Sadly, Lady is losing her home and her family of 8 years. Her family is moving but she is not moving with them. Lady is a sweet and very cuddly girl. She loves people and will follow her person around like a shadow. She loves walks, cuddling, treats, and being with her special person as much as possible. She does well with other dogs, and has lived with a cat in the past. She is overly interested in small outdoor animals like squirrels and chipmunks, so her new family must either try to avoid such encounters or be prepared for her to bring such trophies to the door! Lady is fine when home alone, and does not need to be crated. She is well behaved and she is housebroken too. Lady is up to date on vaccinations, is heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, is spayed and microchipped. If you’d like to open your heart and home to this precious senior, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 815-997-9045.
