I got River in fall 2020 as a rescue and taught him the basics. He was 2 years old when we got him, which makes him almost 6. Because he is a rescue, I do not have any real history for him. I suspect there was abuse because he will tremble and tuck his tail when he's disciplined, especially if you raise your voice at all. He's better now, but when I first got him he would tremble just when I was walking around. He had heartworm when we got him, went through the treatment, and as far as I know he is still all set. There was a long period after I broke up with my ex where he would be 12 or more hours by himself, which broke much of his house training, and he's mostly good if you're paying attention. He has some destructive behaviors, but he has outgrown much of it. He is obsessed with chasing small animals like cats/rodents. He is a lover, and honestly a wonderful dog in a bad situation. He would really thrive in a 1 pet home, especially with more attention.

Ruthie's story is very sad. Her owners (never found) tied her to a telephone pole at a gas station in the middle of the night on a cold winter's night. Two young men who pulled in to get gas early in the morning saw her and took her into their car. They then contacted us to see if we could take her in. She was so scared and freezing cold she just cowered in fear for about a week. We are convinced that she was physically abused as well. Little by little she started to come out of her shell. We left her in our nursery building for a few weeks because we thought she may be pregnant. It was obvious that she had had a litter at some point in her life. Turns out she wasn't pregnant so we put her in with the general population where she has thrived. She loves playing with the puppies, she's great with cats and wonderful with children as all Pitties are. She has been spayed, is heart worm negative, fully vaccinated, crate trained and house broken to a doggie door. She is small for a Pittie so we call her a "Pocket Pittie" Ruthie needs her forever home, could that be you? She is ready for immediate transport. Good ole Rufus Thomas. Rufus may have been a victim of dumping this guy was chipped but no one ever stepped up to claim him. Maybe because he was heartworm positive. This guy has come through his treatment with flying colors and is now ready for his forever family. One that won’s let him down. He has a MAJOR LOVE for humans.
