Story
Turbeau aka Beau we adopted from Forsyth Human Society in March of 2021. He has come out of his shell and worked on his manners of learning to live inside. He is an energetic and curious boy who loves to play fetch and then is also content to cuddle. He lives with a doggy sister and several cat siblings- gets along with them all. He is protective of food and toys which we have worked on. He enjoys walks and has done well learning to walk with a gentle leader. He is reactive to other dogs when on walks, especially littler dogs. Beau has lots of separation anxiety and general anxiety with new or unknown situations which we have found medication to work best making him more comfortable. He is crate and house trained. He thinks of his crate as his safe place. He would love to be in a home where he is the only dog or a larger female dog. He very much would love to be the center of attention. He also would need a home with no young children.

Story
Serenity recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what her DDO buddy had to say! "Are you looking for a little serenity in your life??? Well, I have the perfect girl for you! Meet sweet Serenity! She is a 5 year old terrier/pit mix. She's a petite lady at 29 pounds. Heartworm negative and ready to love her people. -Serenity is great in the car. She was a little apprehensive at first, but a treat helped her get cozy in the back seat. She was a quiet rider and enjoyed looking out the window. -Excellent walker on a leash. If she walked ahead of me, she constantly looked back to make sure I was right with her. She never pulled! -This girl is treat motivated and loves food. I made her some scrambled eggs and I believe that was the happiest I saw her all day. Lol! She takes her treat like a lady and is patient. -She doesn't seem to know any commands, like sit or stay, but she is very well mannered. I have no doubt that she could be taught some things once she feels safe and secure in her new home. -Serenity likes people and is interested in them. She was with me in my office all day. She went to visit my coworker in between walks and naps. She was also curious about folks we passed on the street. I don't think I heard her bark or whine once. We didn't encounter any children or other animals so I can't speak to that. Serenity is a mild tempered, chill girl. She is also quite a beauty with the most gorgeous eyes! She got a little pep in her step when it was time for a treat, so there is some play in this girl. She is looking for a home where she can be loved, get some good rest and lots of yummy food. Head over to Guilford County Animal Services between 12-4pm any day except Tuesday to meet Serenity! If you'd like to foster send an email to: kfederico@guilfordcountync.gov" 2nd DDO: "Meet sweet Serenity! She is a 5 year old terrier/pit mix. She's a petite lady at 29 pounds. Heartworm negative and ready to love her people. I had the pleasure of a 2nd day out with this girl. She opened up a bit more on our 2nd date. I noticed that she was more playful with me, but still reserved with new people. She loved my 13 year old! She kept giving him kisses any time he gave her attention. I don't think loud, active folks are her vibe. Serenity LOVES to be outside. She was happy laying on a blanket beside me for quite a while. When we went back in she laid in front of the door watching the neighborhood kids play basketball. She met our neighborhood cat, JR, and did fine. Not sure about other animals. Serenity is great in the car. Hopped right in and settled. She was a quiet rider and enjoyed looking out the window or laying down for a snooze. Excellent walker on a leash. She never pulled! Likes to stop and sniff everything. She's very curious. This girl loves to eat! I made her some scrambled eggs again and she tried a few other treats that she enjoyed. She takes her treat like a lady and is patient. She doesn't seem to know any commands, like sit or stay, but she is very well mannered. I have no doubt that she could be taught some things once she feels safe and secure in her new home. I still have not heard a bark or whine out of her. Serenity is a mild tempered, chill girl. If you'd like to foster send an email to: kfederico@guilfordcountync.gov" As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

Story
Mako is a 5 1/2 year old pit bull who arrived at the shelter as as tray in late August. He is heartworm positive, but receiving treatment at the shelter. Mako is looking for his new home! Mako is a handsome dog with a calm demeanor and a nose for adventure! This mellow guy absolutely enjoys spending time in the yard, where he happily roams around sniffing to his heart's content. While he isn't the type to chase toys or play games, Mako enjoys exploring his surroundings and taking in all the interesting scents. When it's time for a walk, Mako's excitement shines-he'll eagerly run to the door as soon as he sees the leash! While he can be a bit of a puller, especially if there are other dogs around, he's generally easy to walk in a quieter environment. He responds well to treats (which he takes gently) and enjoys the company of his person. Mako prefers to be the only pet in the home, as he doesn't seem to get along with other dogs. He can be reactive when passing other dogs in the kennel or on a walk, so he'd thrive in a dog-free household with a family that understands his need for space. Despite his quirks, Mako's sweet personality makes him a joy to be around. He's a great companion for someone who wants a loyal, laid-back friend who's happiest sniffing around a yard or going for peaceful strolls. Could you be the one to give this beautiful boy the loving home he deserves? If you're interested in adopting Mako, please come visit him during our adoption hours, 12 pm - 4 pm, every day but Tuesday at the Guilford County Animal Shelter.

Story
**Meet Cali - A Sweet and Playful Explorer!** Cali may be a little shy at first, especially when coming out of her kennel at the shelter, but once she's in a comfortable environment, her true personality shines through! Away from the hustle and bustle of the shelter, Cali is a playful, energetic girl who loves to have fun. She's a fan of toys, whether it's fetching, tossing them around, or just enjoying a good chew. Cali is also an excellent walking companion! She's good on leash, always eager to explore and take in the sights and smells around her. With her keen nose, she loves using it to sniff out new adventures-every walk is an exciting opportunity for discovery! Although she's still warming up to new situations, Cali's curiosity and playful spirit really come to life once she feels secure. She's shown a positive interest in other dogs, making her a great candidate for a home with a friendly canine companion. Cali is listed as No Small Children because she is very uncomfortable with toddlers hugging or being in her face. She'd do best with either no children or older children who can understand and respect her boundaries. If you're looking for a sweet, active dog who loves to explore, play, and engage with the world around her, Cali could be the perfect fit. She'll need a patient and understanding family who will give her the time she needs to settle in and feel at home. In return, she'll offer you tons of love, adventure, and plenty of fun moments. Could you be the one to give Cali her forever home? To meet Cali, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

Story
**Meet Gilly – Your Future Cuddle Buddy!** Gilly is an incredibly sweet, mild-mannered, and affectionate dog who’s sure to steal your heart. She is great with other dogs and cats, making her an excellent companion for a household with multiple pets. Gilly enjoys playing with other dogs but is equally content to relax and just hang out. When it comes to cats, she’s perfectly content to ignore them. This lovely lady is a pro on a leash and walks beautifully with a harness, enjoying her daily strolls around the neighborhood. Gilly loves spending time in her crate, especially when she has a Kong or Nylabone to chew on. She’s not one to be overly excitable with people, but she can get a little carried away when playing with other dogs—she just can’t help herself! If you're looking for a car buddy, Gilly will ride calmly, observing the world pass by from the backseat. She’s more of a homebody and prefers to relax on the couch with her favorite humans rather than heading out to crowded places. However, she’s always up for a trip to the park for a fun walk! Gilly is a well-mannered girl who loves treats and takes them politely. She’d do great in a home with another dog around her size, but due to her tendency to hoard toys, she’d be best suited with a dog who isn't particularly toy-driven. Gilly’s favorite toys are the durable, tough-chewer types—she can go through stuffed toys pretty quickly, so strong, chew-resistant options are a must! While she’s not much of a trick performer or a fetch enthusiast, Gilly makes up for it with her unmatched cuddling abilities. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who loves hugs and kisses, she’s the one for you. Gilly is not a barker, but she may alert you if she sees someone in the yard. Gilly will thrive in a home where she’s not left alone for long periods. She loves getting outside several times a day for walks and, on sunny days, will find the perfect spot to soak up some sunshine indoors or out. In the evenings, she’s content to be your cozy couch companion, but don’t forget those regular walks to keep her fit and happy. If you’re seeking a loving, low-maintenance dog who will fill your life with affection and relaxation, Gilly is ready to be your new best friend! To meet Gilly, text her foster mom Catherine at (248) 722-2196 to make an appointment!
