Story
Ruthie's story is very sad. Her owners (never found) tied her to a telephone pole at a gas station in the middle of the night on a cold winter's night. Two young men who pulled in to get gas early in the morning saw her and took her into their car. They then contacted us to see if we could take her in. She was so scared and freezing cold she just cowered in fear for about a week. We are convinced that she was physically abused as well. Little by little she started to come out of her shell. We left her in our nursery building for a few weeks because we thought she may be pregnant. It was obvious that she had had a litter at some point in her life. Turns out she wasn't pregnant so we put her in with the general population where she has thrived. She loves playing with the puppies, she's great with cats and wonderful with children as all Pitties are. She has been spayed, is heart worm negative, fully vaccinated, crate trained and house broken to a doggie door. She is small for a Pittie so we call her a "Pocket Pittie" Ruthie needs her forever home, could that be you? She is ready for immediate transport. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE: $400

Story
This puppy is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $250 if picked up in TN, $325 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions. Meet Lottie, the pint-sized Pit Bull Terrier mix with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging! At about 4 months old, Lottie weighs 26 pounds and is bursting with puppy energy. Lottie is on the lookout for a home where she can share her love and affection. This adorable girl has a knack for hugs and will melt your heart when she stretches her head back for neck scratches. Lottie's playful side shines when she does somersaults in the grass and rolls on her back, reveling in the simple joys of life. Lottie is very food-motivated and eager to please. She’ll follow you for the promise of a treat and sits promptly every time you stop, hoping for a reward. Lottie came to us with 2 broken front legs, therefore, she is still working on housetraining. With plenty of supervision, a regular routine and crate time, she is picking up well on going outside. With her broken legs repaired, she’s healing well and ready for a life full of love, toys and care. Lottie loves people and is especially sweet with those she meets. She is currently living with another dog, and will need to continue her socialization with learning to meet new dogs. A home with a fenced yard and someone with pittie experience would be ideal. If you're ready for a lovable, high-energy companion who will fill your days with joy and affection, Lottie is waiting for you!    Interested in adopting? Take the first step and complete an adoption application on our website: http://aarf-tn.com/adopt/adoption-apps/ If you have questions that are not covered in the profile, visit the Pet Inquiry Form: http://aarf-tn.com/contact/pet-inquiry-form/. THIS PET IS FOSTERED IN TENNESSEE! We do list and adopt our pets nationwide. Typical transport cost to the Northeast is $180. Due to interstate adoption regulations, we are not able to adopt to RI and MA state residents. A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin' Inc.) http://aarf-tn.com/ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee. A.A.R.F. is comprised of unpaid volunteers and survives only on public donations. Thank you for thinking adoption first! Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption. July 15, 2024, 9:33 am

Story
*Due to state laws regarding out of state adoptions, we cannot adopt to families in Massachusetts or Rhode Island.* Pepper is around 5 years old. She loves people and to go for rides in cars or on the gator. She is food/resource aggressive and will need to be an only dog. We also do not believe that she would do well with cats or small children. Listed breed is an educated guess made by our veterinarian and is NOT a guarantee - this also means we have no way of knowing what a puppy'sadult size will be. This dog is currently being fostered in Mississippi and will be transported via Barton's Barkers transport services upon adoption. Their adoption fee is $500 and includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, a nose to tail vet check, microchip and transport costs. Second Chances lists dogs as being available in White River Junction, VT because we transport our dogs to the area every 3rd week after they have been adopted. All of our local shelters have a high euthanasia rate due to overpopulation so we created our rescue group to primarily adopt to the northern states to help keep as many dogs as we can from entering our kill shelters. ##1913606##

Story
*Due to state laws regarding out of state adoptions, we cannot adopt to families in Massachusetts or Rhode Island.* Dillard is a 3-5 year old pitbull terrier mix. He is not good with cats and smaller dogs. He is crate trained, housebroken, and walks great on a leash. Foster states he has a sweet personality and does well with people and medium/large dogs. His adoption fee has been lowered to $350 due to length of time in foster care (over 1 year).  Listed breed is an educated guess made by our veterinarian and is NOT a guarantee - this also means we have no way of knowing what a puppy's adult size will be. This dog is currently being fostered in Mississippi and will be transported via Barton's Barkers transport services upon adoption. She’s doing wonderful in her current foster home with her two doggy foster brothers, a 95 lb cane corso mix and a 75 lb lab. She loves to cuddle with them as well as play with them in the backyard. She also has a cat foster brother who she gets along great with and even hangs out with him on the bed when he’s in the mood for cuddles. FREYA also loves to go on car rides and just take everything in. She would love to be your sidekick for every adventure that comes your way. She likes to talk to you and let you know what she’s thinking! Her little “ooowoo’s” are absolutely precious! She tends to talk to strangers as well , but it’s just her saying “Hello!”. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience. All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook!
