Story
Achilles came to Elmore SPCA as a stray and after no one came forward to claim him, he is now looking for his perfect forever. He is heartworm positive, but we don't want that to keep him from finding his perfect family. He has started his treatment, which is a lengthy process, but Elmore SPCA and the veterinarian that we work with will help his new family through every step of the process. He is a sweet adult dog, who just wants to be loved, oh and he will take any treats he can get as well. **We are looking for a quiet foster home or a forever home for this sweet boy so he doesn't have to go through the healing process here in the shelter. If you are interested in meeting Achilles to adopt or foster, please stop by the shelter. We would love to introduce you! ***Petfinder inquiries are not monitored by Elmore SPCA*****Shelter hours are Monday - Saturday, Noon to 4pm****Applications, as well as personal references may be electronically submitted from our website at www.elmorespca.org/adoptionapp.html. **>>Due to the heavy load of adoption applications received processing of applications can take up to 7-14 business days.

Good with kids, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Blue is a 2-3 year old, neutered Pit Bull mix who has basic house manners.  He was a one-owner dog in a great home until a few weeks ago. We thought he'd be great for us with our other dog, but we later found out due to dog reactivity he will need to be a single-dog home. He seems to be insistent on being alpha and doesn't seem to respect a female owner. He's shown dog reactivity, and recently some aggressive tendencies towards other dogs. He's incredibly smart, super trainable, and has been very sweet in-home, friendly with people and kids. He needs a place where he can get his energy out and loves to sleep and snuggle. Blue is such a special, sweet pup!   This is a courtesy post.  Please contact Jo Lord at jolordbills@gmail.com or call 212-203-5909 with any inquiries. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Rocky! This sweetie is looking for a new family to call his own! He is a foster to adopt for right now while he finishes up treatment for Lyme disease. He is good with cats, and has lived with children and did great with them. Were not sure about dogs, so a proper dog introduction here at the shelter would be important. He loves people, and would be a great addition to any family. He is learning some leash skills, but still needs some basic training to bring out the best of him. If your looking for a friendly guy like him, please visit the adoption center.
