Story
Aurora-female-spayed-6 1/2 years. Meet Aurora! She arrived at CCHS with nowhere else to turn after her owner passed away. She weighs approximately 70 pounds. Although we received no information upon her arrival, we've learned that Aurora enjoys playing with other dogs at CCHS. She appears to be housetrained and enjoys car rides. She knows the command to sit and is truly a delightful dog to have around. It's easy to envision her as a cuddly companion eager to spend time with a loving family. If you can give this cute girl a chance, apply to meet her at www.cchswi.org DATCP License #266742-DS

Story
Bruno came into ACHS as a stray on 4/21/23 after his owner abandoned him at a friend's home. This gorgeous fella is very sweet and calm with people. When the staff goes in to spend time with Bruno he immediately sits in their lap! He loves kids, but needs to be in a home without small children because he is super strong and might accidentally knock them over. Unfortunately, Bruno has shown aggression to other dogs at the shelter. This could change outside of this environment and with dedicated training! However, we will only allow him to be adopted into a home with no dogs or cats. A fully fenced yard is also recommended. If you are looking for a wonderful companion and have room in your heart and home for Bruno please give us a call at (608) 339-6700.

Story
Thor is an energetic sweetheart looking for his forever home. He has the softest coat and enjoys being petted and brushed. He loves people and his treats, which he is learning new commands for. He's learned "sit" and "shake" so far, and he is actively learning "stay" and "down" with the help of the staff in the kennel. He follows directions very well! He's very energetic, but after a walk or an opportunity to work off his energy, he likes to lie down and watch the world go by. He enjoys chasing and playing in water, playing tug-of-war, and spending time with his person. Thor would make a great companion for the right home. Story
Meet Queenie. Queenie is a 7 year old small Pit Bull Terrier Mix who came to us when her owner died unexpectedly. After that, she went to live with friends, who could not keep her permanently, but fostered her as long as they could. Eventually she came to us here at the Adams County Humane Society where she is receiving love and care. She has been through a lot and is a little shy but is as sweet as she can be. She is starting to come out of her shell a bit. We are unsure how well she gets along with other dogs but she seems to be okay with them. She does have some food aggression though, so she needs to be fed away from other animals for sure. Other than that, she is a total sweetheart and a favorite of everyone here at the shelter. If you have room in your heart and home for Queenie and would like to meet her, please go to our website at www.adamscountyhumanesociety.org and fill out an application today. If approved, someone from our adoption team will call you to set up a meet and greet.

Story
***** Neytiri has been with us longer than we would like so she is a member of our Lonely Hearts Club and her adoption fee has been reduced to $300. *****Hello there! I'm Neytiri, a sweet and loving pup with a heart of gold. I've lived with other dogs before and I like to play with other active pups like me. I spent some time in a foster home and they had lots of nice things to say about me! I know some things like sit and come and I am mostly housetrained. I like to play but I am also content to settle and hang out with my people. I am learning how to walk nicely on leash but I can't help pulling a bit when I see something interesting. I'm a total sweetheart - friendly and affectionate. I love people and enjoy getting belly rubs and snuggles. I have alot of energy and am still learning not to jump so I may not be a good fit for a household with small children or cats. If you have an active home and will include me in your adventures, I'll be your loyal companion forever!I am also eligible for a scholarship through GoodPup, which is a four week training program that will help me to learn my manners and build confidence. Be sure to ask about this when you meet me! I'm currently staying in a quieter part of the shelter, so please ask the adoption center staff to bring me out for a meet and greet! Medical history: I'm on a bit of medication to help with my anxiety here at the shelter, but I'm otherwise a healthy adult! I should see my new vet as soon as possible to establish care. Weight: 47 lbs Adoption fee: $300 + taxIf you'd like to meet me, click the "Learn About the Adoption Process" button below to plan a visit to the shelter!
