Story
Meet Mortimer (aka Morty)! Morty is a 5-year-old, large mix breed with a striking white coat adorned with black spots and expressive, gentle brown eyes. This sweet, calm guy is as lovable as he is handsome. Though he's a bit of a big guy, Morty has a soft and easy-going nature that will melt your heart. He's well-mannered and knows several commands, including "sit," "stay," "come," "down," "wait," and "fetch." If you've got treats on hand, he's all ears-Morty is very food motivated, which makes him easy to train and redirect if needed. He's also a toy enthusiast and loves playing with people and on his own. Whether it's a squeaky ball or a tug toy, Morty is always up for a fun game just make sure he doesn't eat any of the toys! Morty LOVES other dogs (mostly the ladies) and is a true gentleman in playgroups. He loves to rough and tumble play, but also has a soft and snuggly side. We refer to him as the Sargent because he checks in with everyone and helps us enforce safe and proper play among the other dogs. Even though Morty loves other dogs, he does not do well with cats and wants to chase them, so we wouldn't recommend a home with cats for him. Though he's calm in his kennel and enjoys napping on his bed, Morty would thrive in a home with older children due to his size and tendency to jump when excited. He's fully potty-trained and has kept his kennel clean. Morty came to us from the Brownstown Animal Shelter where he was found as a stray and is ready for his forever family. If you're looking for a sweet, loyal, and playful pup who'll be your new best friend, Morty is your guy! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to meet Mortimer please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. He is neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care he has received. **Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates on their age based on the condition of their teeth. Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Story
Meet Ziggy, a handsome gentleman with a heart of gold! This sweet soul is looking for a loving home where he can relax, enjoy some quality yard time, and go on slow, leisurely walks. Ziggy is an excellent walker when he’s wearing his harness, and he loves meeting new people—he’s a huge snuggle bug who craves affection from everyone he meets. Ziggy’s ideal home would include a comfy couch for napping and people who can spend lots of time with him, as he does experience some anxiety when left alone. He’d be a perfect fit for a home with older, respectful children and no other dogs, as he prefers to be the only pet. Ziggy was surrendered by his previous owner due to some tough times, and now he’s hoping for a fresh start with a family who will love him unconditionally. Ziggy is fully potty trained and knows basic commands like "sit" and "paw." If you’re looking for a loving companion who will fill your home with warmth and cuddles, Ziggy could be the perfect match for you! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to meet Ziggy, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. Story
Bonnie is a sweet and spirited 2-year-old mix breed who is ready to find her forever home! This beautiful girl came to FMAR as a stray, and while she was initially a bit scared, she has quickly blossomed into an enthusiastic, playful pup who’s excited to take on the world. With her adorable face, big brown eyes full of love, and an endless supply of energy, Bonnie has captured the hearts of everyone she meets. Bonnie's favorite activities include going for walks, playing with toys, and lounging on the couch for a well-deserved nap. She's also excellent with other dogs who enjoy her "Rough and Tumble" play style! Bonnie has a playful nature and absolutely loves greeting new people with tail wags and happy jumps. She could benefit from some leash manners and a little guidance to help her calm down when greeting people. Basic training will help her be the best pup she can be! Bonnie has done great with all the people she’s met at FMAR and would be a fantastic fit for a family that has a younger playful dog. Because of her energetic and jumpy personality, Bonnie would do best in a home with older children who can match her enthusiasm. If you’re looking for a loyal, active companion who’s ready for adventure and affection, Bonnie is the one for you! She would love to join an active family that enjoys walks, outdoor adventures, and cuddling on the couch. Could Bonnie be the perfect fit for your family? Meet Tank...he is a 2 year old neutered male terrier who came in as a stray and has not been claimed. He is friendly and enjoys being petted. He loves back scratches, but doesn't like when he is hugged from the back. It makes him nervous. We recommend NO children. He knows sit. He is great on a leash! He will walk right next to you. He is ok passing and being around other dogs but a meet and greet is always needed if you have other pets. We are located at 25555 Northline Rd. We are open Monday thru Friday from 9-11:30 am and 12:30-3 pm. We will also be open every Saturday in March from 9-11:30am and 12:30-3pm.

Story
This is 4 year old Kane. He use to live in a motel with his family when they were evicted. Now, he is not able to do that. Kane is a very sweet boy that gets along with other dogs when properly introduced and is good with kids although he does like to jump. He has not been cat tested ,but just like my dogs and others, he can learn to like cats. Kane knows his basic commands and loves to play. But as you can tell from the pictures, he also loves to chill. He is in a temporary foster right now. Kane would love to find a foster to adopt or just be adopted so he can finally be home. Maybe you'd like to meet him?
