Story
Astrid is a LARGE Armenian Gampr weighing in at a healthy 160 pounds. At 3 years old, Astrid is still a puppy at heart and seems to be unaware of her larger than life size. More often than not she can be found lost in her own world, running around, jumping in the air trying to catch some wind under her paws. Astrid must have a vivid imagination as she loves to just hang out on her own, keeping herself entertained. She enjoys simple things like a dip in the kiddie pool and a fluffy squeaky toy. Astrid would like to find a home where she can have all the attention to herself with no other animals. She may get along with other humans 16 and older. She would like a home with a large yard and high secure fencing. An owner willing to invest in training her to be well behaved is a requirement. My adoption comes with a free month of training from GoodPup.com to ease me into my new home and help me bond with my new family.

Meet Kona – A Majestic Guardian Ready for Her Ideal Home! Kona is a beautiful five-year-old Anatolian Shepherd from Altadena, California, with a heart set on finding her perfect new family, wherever they may be. This spirited companion finds joy in the simple things – from chew toys and tennis balls to invigorating runs and cozy lounging. Her loyalty is unwavering, and she adores being close to her loved ones, content to follow them or relax nearby in a favorite chair. Kona’s perfect home would be a spacious, outdoor environment – ideally, acres of open land where she can fulfill her natural role as a guardian. Bred for protecting livestock, she has a keen instinct for surveying her surroundings and would thrive in a place where she can roam freely and keep an eye on her territory. Kona would be especially well-suited for a home where she could be a "guardian of the land," patrolling her space with purpose. In addition to space, Kona’s ideal family would be experienced with protective breeds. She needs a confident handler who can offer the firm, calm guidance she requires, especially in situations where she needs clear instruction. Though she may show territorial protectiveness at home, Kona is quite friendly in neutral spaces like boarding facilities, and she’s known for her gentle nature around children. Kona’s perfect match will appreciate her loyal, independent spirit and offer her the calm, stable environment she craves – ideally with limited visitors to respect her need for a secure space. Fully crate trained, vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and house-trained, Kona is more than ready for a new beginning. If you’re captivated by her charm and have the experience and space to offer this wonderful dog her ideal home, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com today! Kona is ready to embark on her next adventure – could it be with you?

Story
Helena has a big heart and a big body! Haha!! We assume she is an Anatolian Shepherd/Armenian Gampr. This site does not have that as a breed option. Best as the only dog. Helena was surrendered while in labor and required emergency surgery to deliver the puppies. The people that “owned” her claimed to not have any money for vet care and were driving around with her in the car for hours looking for a vet to do the surgery for free. Finally they ended up at an emergency hospital that knew our friends at HOPE FOR PAWS and they agreed to help with the surgery only if they surrendered the dog to them. They surrendered her and then had the nerve to ask if they could leave a $1,000 deposit for one of the male puppies! Some people are amazing! Of course we would not adopt to them! Helena was so neglected! She had a prolapsed vagina that they said had been that way for “a few months” and they never got her medical care. She was extremely dirty, under weight and she’s lucky she survived! She was too weak to nurse the puppies so they were bottle fed.

Story
This is Rufus. He will be 2 years old on November. He is a very excited puppy that needs a good adopter to have a nice yard or able to take to the dog park. Because he is a puppy he eats quite a bit. He is a yard dog so there was no need to bathe him as much. We cannot take Rufus to the dog park to let off his energy and we have made the decision that our current schedule does not fit with his and would rather someone else take the time to help him get what he very much deserves. And that’s being an active pup as he should be. It hurts that we want him but cannot let him suffer to enjoy being a puppy.

Story
Meet Lottie, a stunning, resilient Malinois looking for her forever Home! Lottie is a positively breathtaking 1-year-old purebred Malinois with a heart as big as her spirit. Born blind, she may not see the world like other dogs, but that doesn’t slow her down one bit! Lottie has a zest for life, loves to explore, and even surprises everyone with her absolute love for swimming—she confidently gets in and out of the pool once she knows the steps! Originally found as a stray, Lottie was given a second chance thanks to a Good Samaritan and the wonderful team at German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County. She thrives in the company of other dogs, happily following a confident leader, and she’ll do best in a home with a friendly, well-balanced canine companion to help guide her. Like any young Malinois, Lottie has plenty of energy and loves to play—sometimes a little too much for small dogs, so she’d do best in a home with medium to large dog companions. While she may startle easily until she learns the routine, she’s incredibly smart, eager to adapt, and housebroken once she knows the way out. Lottie deserves more than life in a rescue kennel—she needs a loving, patient home where she can continue to blossom. If you have a big heart, an active lifestyle, and a welcoming dog to show her the way, Lottie just might be your perfect match. Are you the one to give this incredible girl the forever home she deserves? Reach out today and make Lottie’s dream of family life come true! She’s currently available for adoption in the Greater Los Angeles area. Please visit our website to complete an adoption application: https://jasonheigl.foundation/adopt/lottie

Story
This beautiful boy Mowgli is 5 years old. He was surrendered by his owner of 4 years, because she felt that she could no longer handle him. The former owner explained that Mowgli was overly protective of her and would act aggressively when people would approach her, and she was unable to control him. She also told us that she was unsure how he was with other dogs but had been okay with cats in the past.Understandably, he was very depressed when he got here, and it took days and days for staff to get him to eat. With lots of love and attention, he realized that we weren’t so bad and started to come around. He is a big love bug! He is very affectionate and just wants to be with and around his people. He can be vocal and lets you know when he wants attention, by giving a big, loud wooooooooooooooo.Mowgli is a sensitive boy and needs and experienced owner. He will need someone willing to socialize him safely and correctly and who has the time to take advantage of some specialized training, so he doesn’t fall back into that overly protective personality. For now, we will have to say no children. He seems to be a clean boy (excluding the drool that comes with this breed) and seems to be potty trained. He loves wearing a cozy sweater and would love a couch of his own. We have fallen in love with this special boy, and we want to find him his forever home, with someone who understands his needs and requirements.

Story
Meet Valentine: A Diamond in the Rough, Ready to Shine! After fostering Valentine for the past two months, I can say it’s been nothing short of an honor to get to know this incredible girl. Her journey has been far from easy, but there’s something so special about her that I know will resonate with the right person. Once she feels safe and secure, Valentine is all love. She’s goofy, hilarious, affectionate, and the most loyal companion you could ask for. Valentine does best when she has her toys to chew on. It helps her relieve some stress, and once redirected, she sticks to her toys—she’s a quick learner! As a Malinois, she’s got the energy of an athlete, so her morning walks (about 45-60 minutes) are a must. After that, she’s totally content to rest and cuddle up with you at home. Her past has left her a bit skittish around sudden noises and chaotic environments. She is potty trained, but you will need to show her her new routine in your space before she understands when and how to hold it until she’s outside. We have been in professional training together and she’s doing well with positive reinforcement, making great progress, learning commands like “heel,” “stay,” and “off”. With more time and love, she’ll continue to grow into a confident, well-rounded dog. The right owner for her will continue training with love and commitment so she’ll keep blossoming into a dog that will fill your life with joy. Valentine needs a calm, secure home where she’s the only dog. The ideal adopter would be someone patient and understanding, willing to help her navigate the world at her own pace. In return, she’ll be the most devoted, fun, snuggle-loving adventure buddy you’ve ever had.Bonus offer: I’m happy to offer free dog-sitting or walks anytime you need them, just to make sure Valentine always gets the love and care she deserves, even if you’re out of town. ?? If you`re ready to help Valentine continue her journey and offer her the loving forever home she deserves, please reach out. I promise, she’ll bring so much happiness into your life (she already has in mine)! ????Valentine is in a Foster Home and not housed at the shelter. Please contact our foster coordinator at vbasfosterinfo@gmail.com to arrange a meet and greet.
