What she lacks in confidence she gives back with one of the sweetest demeanors we’ve had the pleasure of knowing. This unsure girl looks to her humans to give her the guidance she’s lacking and she trusts with her whole heart. Shes looking for that perfect adopter who’s willing to give their heart in return. Scotch found herself picked up as a stray by our county shelter. She lingered for almost a month. Shy dogs don’t fare well in a shelter setting. They tend to stay towards the back of their kennels rather than rushing forward to greet potential adopters and this means they are rarely noticed and even more rarely picked for adoption. Dogs like Scotch need the time rescue can give them to find the perfect home. We know we can help Scotch find hers. If you’re looking for the kind of dog who intertwines with your soul Scotch is ready to fill that void. She’d love a quiet and calm home willing to give her the time she needs to be comfortable. Canine buddies should be calm and respectful and she’d prefer older children who understand boundaries. Three puppies were running on the busy road just down the road from Paw Parent. It was dark out and leaving them there was out of the question.With the help of other people we were able to catch all three. But now what?My neighbor said that she would take them to the shelter, which would mean that three dogs already at the shelter would need to be killed to make room for them. They could also catch Parvo at the shelter and be euthanized and even if they didn't get sick, if not adopted they would be killed to make room for new arrivals.Seeing them falling asleep cuddling together, exhausted from the trauma of having been abandoned, I just couldn't let that happen!So, we squeezed them in. It is a challenge because we were so full already, but we are making it work.Turns out the puppies are a new cross breed, Cattle dog and Corgi, called Cowboy Corgis. We believe that a backyard breeder who couldn't sell them now that they were about four months old, drove out to the desert and dumped them! They are incredibly sweet and lively with lots of love to give. Kamden was very shy at first but has warmed up and loves to be petted just like his siblings. He is about 4 months old, weighs 25 pounds, is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and ready to brighten up someone's life. This sweet boy is stunning and has all the brains and fun you Aussie fans love about the breed. He’s high energy, enthusiastic and gorgeous! Definitely a winning combination for Pawsitive Change! This boy attended his 3 month training program at Tehachapi State Prison and is now looking for an active family willing to keep him challenged and enforce the boundaries he learned in prison.Neptune may be a familiar face. He was adopted last summer as a younger pup but unfortunately that family wasn’t his perfect fit. There was too much going on in the home and neighborhood and it was a bad environment for this boy. He had a chance to decompress at our ranch before going into Pawsitive Change and has done great! We have learned during his time with us that he has specific needs in a home environment and are committed to finding him the perfect fit. Neptune can be a very happy social boy, but he needs a strong leader that can set healthy boundaries with him. A home with a single person may be best. He seems to attach himself to the mother figure in the home and then guards that person. A strong handler will be able to navigate and redirect that behavior. Neptune is very affectionate and eager to please. He really just wants a job like all Aussies do. Do you like K9 sports? Looking for an agility partner? Want to learn a new hobby like dock diving? This boy would love all of those things and could be your new best friend! Have dogs? Neptune can be very social with other dogs but does sometimes take a minute to acclimate to a new dog. He enjoys other fun loving friends that he knows. If you’ve been looking for the perfect adventure buddy and have the leadership skills Neptune needs he just might be the perfect fit for you!
