Story
Mila is a beautiful, 10 1/2 yr old, tan & white cattle dog mix looking for her forever home. She had some bad luck with her last adoption from us.  We got a call from a shelter in Wisconsin that she was found tied to a pole. A wonderful volunteer from that shelter flew her to Iowa in his personal plane where one of our dedicated volunteers met him to pick her up and bring her back home.  She is playful and loves people of all kinds. Mila walks well on a leash, loves to play fetch and does a good job of keeping herself occupied. She's a sweet, fun girl and would love to live out the rest of her life with someone who loves her. Mila cannot be around other dogs so she needs to be the only pet in the home. Can you give Mila the life she so deserves.  For more information, email us at tchsPapillion@gmail.com or visit https://townandcountryhumanesociety.org/adopt The adoption fee is $200 and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.  Applications are typically worked in time stamp order based on date/time of submission.  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member. *****We are currently operating by appointment only due to a shortage of personnel.   If you want to meet this pet, or are interested in adopting, please submit an inquiry or email to tchspapillion@gmail.com.  Someone from the rescue will contact you and/or your family and determine, on a broad level, whether you might be a fit for the animal.  If so, they will provide instructions for completing the application. Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted to set up a time to meet at the shelter or the foster home.   The introduction between you and the pet will be supervised by one of the dog counselors or the foster.   If all goes well, you can adopt during the same visit. Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to learn more about Town and Country Humane Society and our mission. ##1586145##

Story
Waldo is a 3 year old dog with a hard beginning. He was surrendered to the rescue we foster for as a puppy. He has been with us since then and has struggled with his anxiety and fear of most things. He struggles to be around other dogs or children, which we have. He is loving and sweet with the grown ups in our family. Children make him nervous as do strangers and other dogs. He tends to play too rough with our cat and has attacked our other dog and children without provocation. He needs a home without children or other pets where he can feel safe. Someone with good training skills would also benefit as Waldo is quick to learn but unreliable and needs close guidance.

Story
Freckles, an Australian cattle dog/Lab mix, and is now available and ready to mix and mingle with any breed and size of dog that will play with him. This 7-8 month old handsome little 42 pound guy loves all people and children whether you are playing or snuggling with him. His personality is that of loyal loving lab that will capture your heart!  Freckles came to us as a stray, trying to survive alone in a wooded area. He was previously adopted then given away... and sadly, as is frequently the case, no responsible owner came forward but that's ok he's on to a better life and wow does he deserve it! He is such an affectionate sweetheart that will fit into any family. He loves to play hard and snuggle hard as the saying goes. Another playful dog to get his energy out would be ideal and a fence is REQUIRED.  This fantastic boy is one of the best cuddles we have and loves to sleep with his head on your shoulder or his long little body curled up on your lap. He loves his toys,  chew bones and is doing good on loose leash walking. Freckles really loves any activity/adventures with his people....walks, hikes, runs when he's old enough, camping going on car rides, etc and you will be rewarded with lots of kisses by this cutie! He is easy to redirect and wants to please his people and very smart. He is also hard at work on 4 on the floor when he's super excited, and potty training is almost complete, if you pay attention to his signals. This guy is also crate trained and will go in by himself to nap! Looking for your best fun-time buddy and snuggler all rolled into one? Just apply at WWW.HAVENANIMALRESCUENEBRASKA.ORG to submit an application on our website and he can be yours! DONATION ADOPTION FEE: $375 PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you.  Thank you for choosing adoption!! August 13, 2024, 12:06 am

Good with dogs,
Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org) 'Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?' for additional information. Primrose is an adorable puppy who is full of personality, has one blue eye, and is a bundle of cuteness! She enjoys the company of others (both furry and human) and loves to play tug and fetch. She is making great progress with her crate and potty-training! As long as she gets her playtime and goes potty before bedtime, she will sleep through the night. She likes to start her day early and is a morning cuddlebug. She loves stuffed animals. She has the cutest butt wiggles and sweet little howl when she is feeling lonely. She gives all the appropriate signs when she needs something and is a wonderful puppy! She is currently learning 'sit' and to do it before she gets out of the crate, as well as before going outside for a potty break. She would love a furry companion to play 'keep away with', and tug, of course. She currently lives with a one 8 year old dog that she gets along great with, as well as two adults and a teenager. She can be a little shy at first but warms up quickly with a little reassurance and safety. She is curious about new sounds and likes to explore once she feels safe.Like any of our dogs, this sweet, beautiful girl would make a great addition to an active home that will provide the love, structure, good leadership, activity and mental stimulation that her breed needs.  Because of that, Prim's ideal owner will have prior GSD or other herding breed experience, and a friendly dog buddy.  Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, please remember  that you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings, in order to provide sufficient stimulation, ward off boredom, and work on leash skills, and manners.   Prim's adoption fee is $395, all of which goes back into offsetting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.  We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please review the information in the 'About Us', 'Important Considerations' and 'Adopt' sections on our website menu, as it contains useful information about the breed, adoption fees, the adoption process and our requirements, and how meeting the dogs works.August 15, 2024, 8:18 pm

He can seem a little more reserved when he first greets you, but he really just wants some one-on-one cuddles, and just melts into your arms when held. Colt is pretty content to lay down and chew on a toy with an occasional light wrestling session thrown in. He is still working on adult skills like walking on leash and potty training since he is just a baby. He gets along with everyone including other animals but is still a puppy so he may need some minor guidance to mind his manners. He is a wonderful puppy with a great personality!
