Story
Meet Lilly! This beautiful girl has such a beautiful story. Miss Lilly was an emotional support doggie to her owner who suddenly passed away. Right after she was taken to the Bernalillo Shelter where she was soon put on their Euthanasia list. A friend of the lady who previously owned Lilly contacted us in hopes that we could save her as she knew what an amazing and sweet girl she was. Lilly has been through some traumatic things, and came to us very shy, but has opened up to the kindness of the staff here at Watermelon, and we all just love her so much! She is great around other dogs and will come around to any human with just a little kindness and love.If you would like to meet Lilly, she is at our main ranch location, or you can email dogswmr@gmail.com.

Story
Noelle is young adult, female herding breed mix. She used to be an outdoor dog, but she has quickly adapted to being inside more and around more people. Noelle is a super sweetheart. She is a bit shy at first, and can sometimes get overwhelmed, but when she's comfortable, she becomes a sweet little spaz. She loves people and will do anything for a hug. She can be a little particular with dogs, but she does well with calm and friendly dogs. She has been around cats before.

Story
Who’s adorable? Girly is! Except for the grey on her muzzle and around her kind eyes, you’d never guess this sweet cattle dog mix is 8 years old. She has the pep of a younger dog but the calmness of a senior, a perfect combo! Girly loves to go on walks and is good on leash. She knows “sit” and takes treats gently. Girly went to an Old Town event and handled the crowds, kiddos, and other dogs like a pro! Bring your dog in for a meet and greet to see if they can be pals. Her sweet personality and happy smile will melt your heart. Girly is spayed and current on vaccines – which means this cuddle bug can go home with you today.Check out Girly`s video! Story
Meet Delia: A Sweet Soul in Search of a Loving HomeHello, I`m Delia—a gentle and affectionate 12-year-old lady with a heart of gold. Life hasn`t always been easy for me; I was surrendered by my elderly owner who could no longer care for me, and I`ve spent much of my life outside. Now, I`m looking for a kind-hearted person or family to give me the love and care I deserve in my golden years.I may be a bit overweight and have some arthritis, and I could have thyroid issues too, but that doesn`t stop me from being the sweetest, most loving companion you could ask for. I might move a little slower than I used to, but my heart is full of warmth and affection. I’m hoping to find someone who understands that I need a little extra care and patience, and in return, I`ll offer endless snuggles and loyal companionship.A cozy home where I can enjoy the comforts of indoor living, along with some gentle exercise and a bit of extra TLC, would make me the happiest girl in the world. If you think you can provide the loving home that I so desperately need, please consider adopting or fostering me. Let’s make my remaining years as joyful and comfortable as possible. Thank you for considering me!

Story
Meet Darla. This darling girl would make a wonderful family dog for the right home. As smart as she is sweet, Darla already knows “fetch,” “sit,” and is learning “stay” from her shelter friends. She loves her booty scratches! An easy medium size with a pretty tricolor coat, Darla is still young (2 years old) but has the gentle calmness of a more mature dog. She takes treats gently and walks well on leash, both with her person and side-by-side with another friendly dog, like her shelter buddy Midnight. Overall, Darla seems dog friendly, greeting other dogs with a wag and nose sniff, but a meet & greet with any dogs you have is always recommended. Darla is already spayed, so once she gets her vaccines at the shelter clinic, this gem of a dog can become part of your family today.

Story
Jack Jack is a medium sized super high energy doggo that loves to run and play! He is people selective and loves to protect his family. Because he tends to get very attached, he would need a home where someone is there for me 24/7. He prefers females as he is more comfortable with them, so he would need to go slow when meeting males. He is great with other dogs and would love to have a playmate. He also loves to play in water, so a small dog pool is preferred!! He is definitely still a puppy at heart and gets incredibly fast zoomies! He would do best in a home where he can be very active and play as long as he wants! He would also do best in a home with older children and adults since he is very high energy. If you are looking for a hiking buddy, a running buddy or just a very active playmate he would be the perfect fit for you!He can be found at the main ranch location. Story
Rosie is a sweet and gentle 6-year-old mini Australian shepherd looking for a new home. We adopted her in July 2024 from the Santa Fe Animal Shelter, hoping to give her the love she had never known. Sadly, due to our sons severe dog allergies and asthma, we can’t keep her. Rosie had a rough start in life but has blossomed into the most loving companion. She adores cuddling and would thrive in a home where she can snuggle all day. She is fully house-trained, well-mannered, and deeply loyal. She does best as the only pet, as she is very protective of her people. Rosie isn’t high-energy & she just wants to be by your side. If you’re looking for a devoted, affectionate dog, Rosie is the perfect fit. We love her dearly and want to find her the best forever home. Please reach out if you think Rosie could be part of your family.
