Story
Shiloh is a great dog. She would be perfect on a large plot of land with a family. She is high energy and explorative. She is a fast learner, food motivated and has many commands. Her release word from a stay or her asking for something is "Free". Shiloh was found with 5 siblings in a parking lot on a hot day in Raleigh a year and a half ago. Now she loves winter, and playing in water on hot days. She is great candidate for buttons, as she has learned to hold or offer affirmative barks on the word of the thing she wants. Housebroken, loving, emotionally aware, crate trained. I am just looking for a family that can provide her the attention, space and activity she needs to be fulfilled.

Story
Lucy, our cherished family dog for five years, has grown up with our teenagers, now 15 and 18. We are seeking a loving home for her in the Asheville area due to an upcoming overseas move that makes dog ownership impossible for us. Lucy is a warm, playful, and family-oriented dog who adores affection and backyard playtime, especially chasing balls and swimming with the kids. She is the very best of house dogs, truly seeming to have a 'human' connection with her family. While gentle, she remains cautious of other dogs and gets scared when approached on trails. A new owner would do well to socialize her gently and consistently with other dogs to help her build confidence. We hope to find a home that will continue to cherish her loving nature and her unique bond with people.

Story
If you are looking for a fun companion to accompany you on car rides, hikes or outside while you do chores, Dunebug is your guy. Dunebug is a 1 year old blue heeler mix with a lot of energy and an affectionate, quirky personality. Dunebug is still young and in training, but he is smart & enjoys learning. He likes being a part of things, loves cuddles and attention. He has made progress in the areas of house-training, walking on a leash without pulling and learning to sit and sit/stay. He is still somewhat reactive to other people and animals, but he is coming along. Dunebug loves to run, jump and explore. He would like a place where he can play outside more-maybe with a fenced in area or a large space away from the road. He is a puppy and a cattle dog, so chew toys are a must. Dunebug weighs 29 lbs and has had his shots. He has an appointment to be neutered. He has tested positive for Lyme, but has no active symptoms. Only 5 to 10 % of dogs show active symptoms. Story
River was abandoned in the national forest after we had a major ice/snow storm - myself along with animal control went out to try to get him and he was so terrified - after several hours I was able to gain his trust and he jumped into my car. River is a typical heeler - super super smart, loyal but the typical heeler attitude. This boy knows many commands, sit, stay, lay down, roll over, wait - he will not even eat until you tell him he can. His most favorite thing in the whole world to do is to play ball and he will play for hours and hours. He will need an adopter that has had "heeler" experience as they honestly are a breed of their own. But if you have experience with them - you also know how amazing they are. He would make an excellent hiking partner. Absolutely NO cats - and while he does well with dogs his size that are submissive - he would not mind being the only dog and this dog is going to be loyal to you without a doubt. He is estimated to be 4 years old and weighs 70 pounds. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, dewormed, current on heartworm prevention, microchipped and is a very well trained dog. If River seems like the perfect dog for you, please go to our website www.boxerbuttsandothermutts.org and fill out one of our adoption applications - that is the first step in our process. We also require references and a home visit. His adoption fee is $250.00

Luna is a very chill 5 y/o who has a very severe allergy to fleas. She also really enjoys her personal space. If she feels unsafe or is being prodded at, she will nip, but has never bitten anyone before. Luna currently has scabs along her back, neck, and thighs due to her allergy to fleas, and so needs someone who can take care of her and keep her away from fleas. She loves being pet and is a very loving girl when she feels healthy.
