Story
Hope started our Paws-in-Prison program and learned her foundation obedience. However, prison life wasn't for her. Just a little busy for her comfort. She is a slightly shy girl but warms up extremely fast. She absolutely loves human attention and snuggles once she is comfortable with you. She is crate and house trained, knows her basic obedience and is waiting for her family!!! Hope is a working dog and does best when given a job to please her person. She prides herself on keeping her foster siblings in check and knowing where all of her kitty friends are. Understanding the Chow traits and genetics is a must to adopt! Chows are absolutely wonderful dogs, very faithful and love their owners but they are NOT a breed for everyone. Please research or have prior Chow experience. Chows tend to be a "one person dog and if you're that person you'll have the best possible companion!

Story
Hey there, humans! I'm Axel, the cutest little bundle of energy you'll ever meet! Just look into my GORGEOUS eyes, and you'll be smitten. My story starts off a bit dramatic-imagine a soap opera with fur! I was found wandering the streets with my mom. Right after some lovely rescue ladies scooped us up, my former owner showed up and said, "I'll take the mom but leave the pup." And just like that, I became a rescued pup (because I was the last of an unwanted litter.) Talk about a plot twist! Since then, I've been crashing at a foster home and learning all sorts of new tricks. Walking on a leash? Nailed it! Living without mom was tough at first, but I've adjusted like a champ. I'm also getting the hang of this whole crate and housetraining business. You could say I'm a fast learner, but don't expect me to figure out quantum physics anytime soon! Almost everything is new to me since I wasn't exactly socialized in my previous digs. I'm on a mission to learn more and more each day, so I'm on the lookout for a family that's got the time and patience to help me on my educational journey. Oh, and did I mention I'm a social butterfly? I get along with dogs, kids, and even cats! Though I must confess, my puppy enthusiasm might be a bit much for the feline friends-I'm still working on my gentle side. Now, let's talk breed: I'm an Australian Cattle Dog, which means I'm basically a furry bundle of intelligence and energy. We're known for our smarts, loyalty, and, let's be honest, our stubborn streak. I need mental stimulation and lots of exercise to keep me happy and healthy. Understanding my breed is key to understanding me, so if you're ready for a fun, energetic, and slightly mischievous pup, then I'm your guy! So, if you're up for the adventure, let's create our own sitcom filled with laughter, learning, and a lot of love! Before completing an application, please take into consideration breed characteristics, puppy shenanigans and the size at full grown. -I am full of razor sharp puppy teeth and LOVE to chew. -I am not house trained or crate trained. (working on it) -I need exercise, play time, mental enrichment time NOT confined to tons of crate time! -I need quality time spent with them to learn their proper manners, obedience training, house training and LOTS of time to properly socialize them. -I have had a rough start to life and need the best home possible for me to learn about love and loyalty. -We only place our dogs and puppies into home that meet "their needs. Our dogs are fully vetted. This includes spay or neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations, rabies, microchipped, Heartworm and Lyme tested, worming, flea treatments, Heartworm prevention started, and any other medical care needed. Foster to adopt dogs, simply means they live with you while receiving their care. Then you adopt once ready for adoption. Our adoption fee also includes 6-week group obedience class (value $125.) Story
Roo arrived at NCCR on 3/27/24, rescued when her owners could no longer provide care for her. She is an approximately 6-7-year-old female Australian Cattle Dog. Roo is very friendly to people, and lived with several other dogs, but seems a little intolerant of dogs that pester her or get in her space too much. She knows how to throw her weight around (and she could stand to lose a few pounds!), so she may be too strong for very small children. She has received a full veterinary checkup and was spayed and brought up to date with vaccinations and needed care. Roo may need more work on her house-training skills, as she has some accidents if not kept on a schedule. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application found at caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.

Meg arrived at NCCR on 3/27/24, taken in when her family could no longer provide adequate care for her. She is an approximately 2-3-year-old female Australian Cattle Dog. Meg is a little timid with some people, but warms up with some high-pitched sweet talk. She lived with several other dogs and seemed to get along fine with them. She has received a veterinary checkup, was spayed, and has been brought up to date with vaccinations. Meg is a herding breed and will likely do best with a family that can give her plenty of exercise and a job to do.
