Mmm…Is that barbecue? More like barbeCUTE! If you’ve got a taste for rescue, you are sure to find your new bestie at our neighborhood cookout. Meet Sausage, Corn, Brisket, Tater, Pork Chop, Coleslaw and Mac! These yummy puppies are thought to be Chihuahua mixes, though we won’t know for sure without a DNA test. It is likely that they will become small or medium-sized dogs come adulthood. What we do know is that each of these babies has saucy little personalities! This is a frisky, loving and vocal bunch. Having been in a foster home at their young age, they are well-socialized with humans. They are seeking families who will commit to their care and training as they grow. These rescues will offer years of loyalty (and endless snuggles) in return. So, meet our Barbecue Litter while they’re hot! Apply now!

Story
Clara is a 5 1/2 year old blue-heeler/terrier mix at about 32 lbs. She is an alert, intelligent and loyal dog that needs room to move and travels very well. We currently live in an apartment and new employment will require leaving a cattle dog in a confined place for longer than I am comfortable with. While she gets plenty of daily exercise the time I will be able to devote will have to stop next year. Am, ideally, seeking individuals(s) that have the room (yard or ranch) and are experienced dog owners. She has never been trained to herd but has the instincts and listens and obeys commands very well. She has only been trained with positive reinforcement techniques. I would require at least a few visits before agreeing to any adoption and am willing to travel to you. Please email or call me with whatever questions you may have. Thank you.

Story
I found Bowie on the streets of San Antonio 1 year and 5 months ago. Bowie has been microchipped and spayed. All of Bowie's vaccinations are up to date. Bowie is well-trained and follows commands such as sit, lay down, stay, go eat, go to bed, and be quiet. Bowie is house-trained and crate-trained. This loving girl needs a home with a family or other pets. Bowie is extremely friendly towards other dogs, children, and new people! If you choose to add Bowie to your family she will come with all of her toys, food, as well as supplies such as shampoo, brushes, crate, and bedding. I am unable to continue to take care of Bowie due to illness. This sweet girl deserves to go on walks, play, and live her best life! If you can give her that kind of life, please reach out!

Story
Pumpkin was a rescue we got when she was a puppy. She is incredibly gentle to our family and loving. However, due to her size we can no longer her keep her as our youngest child was diagnosed autistic. We cannot have her around him as he pulls on her. We recognize that this is not her fault, but our only option is to keep her crated to avoid her jumping on him causing injury. We have tried training and teaching our child proper dog handling.

Story
Zoey is a 5 month old cattle dog mix that someone abandoned, and we found running down the middle of a busy roadway. We rescued her with the intention of turning her over to a no kill shelter in the local area. She is not chipped, and all the local no kill shelters are full. We cannot keep her since we already have three much older dogs, and while she seems to have no issues with them, they are not receptive to her at all. We also have elderly parents living with us and don’t have the time to spend with here that she needs. We have taken her to the vet for her first shots and second shots. She is also scheduled to be spayed in September. She is a healthy, rambunctious puppy who just wants to be with you and play. She is crate trained, but not house trained. She is extremely sweet and loves belly rubs and water.

Story
Dingo is such a sweet loving boy. He loves to snuggle and give kisses but is full of energy. He does not like cats and should not be in a home with other cats. He loves to play with other dogs and people. His favorite thing in the world is his boppi toy and he loves a good tennis ball. He’s still learning to not jump on people but he understands sit and off.

Story
Hey! Hi! Hello! You look like you’re looking for the most handsome mutt on the block? Trust me, you’ve found him. All these good looks must come with a bit of charm, right? I’d certainly like to think so. Upon my arrival to SNIPSA, there was no doubt about my loyalty. In my current foster home, I’ve proven to love my humans above all else. As the gentleman that I am, I’ve already mastered the basics like house training and your standard “no” and “sit” commands. As an Australian Shepherd mix, I would appreciate an active lifestyle to ensure that both my mind and body remain busy. Daily walks and interactive toys are some great examples of stimulation. So, if you’re seeking your next companion to accompany you on all of your favorite activities, I can’t wait to join you! Submit an application to meet me today!

Story
Have a love for senior dogs? Well then, this old girl will most certainly pull at your heartstrings. Meet Loretta! This adorable Aussie wants nothing but cuddles and a place to call her own. Found blind, emaciated, dehydrated and abandoned in a ditch, someone let this pup down big time. Luckily, Loretta was rescued by Karnes County Humane Organization and offered a temporary refuge. The organization issued a plea for help, and after hearing about her story, SNIPSA decided to step in, too. Loretta has been transferred into a foster home where she can relax as she awaits a prospective adopter. Despite her current state, she was clearly a beloved pet at some point in her life. Loretta wastes no time in befriending humans. She will eagerly crawl into your lap for pets and trustingly follow your scent during trips outside. Having lost most of her sight, she relies mostly on her nose and partial hearing to navigate her surroundings. She has also has an excellent appetite and always cleans her bowl! From what we’ve seen, Loretta would do just fine with other pets as long as they can respect her fragile condition. She enjoys socializing with other friendly dogs, exploring her surroundings and laying in the grass outside. With her calm, affectionate nature, Loretta will be a peaceful presence in any home. Please consider placing an application to offer her a new life.
