Story
All the best qualities in a petite package! Meet Jewel! Jewel is in a foster home in Spokane, WA and can be transported to your area (see information below in the “Adopting from Path of Hope Rescue” section). Lovely mama Jewel is a small to medium size (currently about 22 lbs.), labrador retriever mix with black fur and white markings on her chest. She has warm, friendly, chocolate brown eyes and medium length fur. Jewel and her four pups form the Nightmare Before Christmas litter, and they traveled from the Del Rio Animal Shelter in Texas to find new homes in the PNW area. We are taking applications for Jewel now, and she will be able to go home with an adopter once her pups are weaned, and she has been spayed in late December. Sweet Jewel is a loving mama who has quickly settled into both her new role and her new foster home. Kind and patient with her pups, she also takes some time for herself, making friends and playmates out of the resident dogs and staking out a preferred spot on the couch for snuggles with people. This gentle, friendly girl has a lot of love to share. Jewel just adores having humans of all ages in her life; she is so happy to see you, even if you only walked out of the room briefly and returned. Jewel will trail behind you, curious to see what you are doing, and she is also content to have some me-time and relax on her own. Playing is a favorite past time for her, with indoors or outdoors both being great options. Jewel has not been cat tested yet, but we will share the results when she has. When Jewel isn’t caring for her puppies, she is honing her skills. Jewel picked up potty training in three days in her foster home, and she quickly learned the rules of her new residence (like no dogs in the kitchen, please). An easygoing girl, Jewel enjoys walks (what new mom wouldn’t appreciate a break from four babies?) and eagerly exploring the world around her. She shares a pen with her puppies while she is nursing, and she will begin crate training once they are weaned. A smart girl, Jewel already knows her basic commands. Jewel’s ideal home? Maybe yours! This relaxed, playful, loving, and smart girl doesn’t require anything fancy. She’d be perfectly content with loving people, a comfy couch to nap on (and someone to snuggle with), people and/or dog companions to play with, access to go outside and run, and toys. If you are looking for all the best qualities you can find in a dog in a petite package, Jewel might be the one for you! Want to meet Jewel? Fill out an inquiry form or visit our website for more information! What is Path of Hope Rescue’s Adoption Process? Our adoption process takes on average 7-10 days. WANTED. Our two employees and army of volunteers focus on transporting pregnant dogs and puppies from Texas, the number one kill state in America. The dogs we rescue are in poor living conditions and on euthanasia lists in shelters that are inundated with unwanted animals. We want to give these dogs a chance and bring them to the Pacific Northwest to find adoptive, loving homes. We are 100% foster based; our dogs are fostered in loving homes where they are house and crate trained and learn basic obedience and leash skills. Dogs experience socialization opportunities with people, places, and other animals, and they receive the attention required to become well-rounded, healthy, and affectionate dogs that they would not otherwise receive in a shelter environment. Our commitment does not end when the dog is adopted. Path of Hope offers post adoption owner support including information on making the dog’s transition to your home a smooth one; recommendations for Preferred Trainers; advice on pet behavior and wellness topics; Facebook litter groups to keep in touch with fellow adopters; and invitations to local rescue hosted events. Story
Meet Sol! Sol is in a foster home in Spokane, WA and can be transported to your area (see information below in the “Adopting from Path of Hope Rescue” section). Sol is the mama of our Roman Gods and Goddesses litter; she and her eight puppies were transported by our partner Austin Pets Alive from Texas to the PNW area for a second chance at life. Sol is a Cattle Dog mix with black and white markings. Sol has striking eyes; one is blue, the other is brown (a relatively rare condition known as heterochromia, where an eye lacks the pigment melanin).  Loving, gentle, and a dedicated mom to her pups, Sol cares for her babies while sneaking in a little well-deserved “me time” when she can. We are taking applications for Sol now, and she will be able to go home with an adopter once her pups are weaned, and she has been spayed, around April 19, 2025. We are just getting to know Sol, but here is a letter from her foster mom in Texas: I just would like to give a small bio on this wonderful, sweet, easygoing and cuddly momma, Sol! I’ve had her for about 3 weeks now and ever since we got her (still pregnant) all she wanted was just to cuddle and give love to her humans! Sol was a little intimidating at first to my little dogs, but she never reacted to them, not a single growl, she actually wanted to meet them but mine take a few days to warm up to fosters! After a few days, they were fine with her! She’s been a little protective now that she has her babies, but all mommas are for the most part. She’s only protective with other dogs, but she’s amazing with humans! My husband could get close to the puppies, my daughters, friends that would visit and she never minded at all. She’s the most amazing girl that would do well in any household. Sol is super people friendly (adults and kids). Dog and cat friendly as well. She doesn’t react to cats; she would stare but not interested in getting to know them! She’s potty trained, leash trained and is super gentle when it comes to taking treats! Sol is also a professional cuddle connoisseur! Belly rubs?  Check! Lap naps? Double check!! She is not a big fan of crates but will tolerate for a small period of time. She’s so good in the house that she was allowed to roam free prior to having her puppies. She was more accepting of a playpen so that’s what we set up for her. She stayed in the playpen with them, all cuddled up in a little kid’s pool. She seemed to like it better! Sol is not a chewer, she does however enjoy her treats a lot, like her bully sticks or sweet potato treats! Want to meet mama Sol? Fill out an inquiry or visit our website for more information!
