Story
Butterscotch was one of our first dogs here. She came in March 28th, her estimated age was around 9 months at the time. She then had 10 puppies raising all 10 of them in our shelter, not once letting this environment put her down. Once it was time for our candy pups and butterscotch to be adopted, all 10 of them left, but her. One of our fosters saw that and decided to take her in. Where she has spent the rest of her time in our care. We have had Butterscotch over 135 days  Miss Butterscotch has a special adoption fee of $200.  The adoption fee of each of our animals is listed underneath their pictures on their biography page.  There will be information listed about the pet on that page as well. If you would like more information, please click on the adopt button and fill out the Animal Inquiry form and that will be forwarded to the foster home so you can speak with them about the pet. After you have spoken with a foster parent with Hands 'N Paws and have chosen a pet(s), you will be directed to fill out an Adoption Contract. Our adoptions are done on a first come first service basis unless a hold is placed on the pet(s).  The hold is for up to 7 days and may be done when the Adoption Contract is submitted.  You may place a hold by paying the Hold Fee of $25 per pet.  The Hold Fee of $25 is Non-Refundable and will be in addition to the Adoption Fee.  You may instead pay the full Adoption Fee which will also hold the pet(s).  After 7 days, if the pet(s) have not been picked up, any fees paid will be forfeited and will be considered a donation to Hands 'N Paws Animal Assistance.  We are a fostered based organization. Each of our animals are kept in individual homes where their foster parents can get to know them to help them find the best possible home.   ##2006583##

Story
Born October 30, 2022 Red Rover is a young red heeler with neurological issues. Our vet suspects a mild form of Cerebellar Hypoplasia. Cerebellar hypoplasia is a neurological condition in which the cerebellum—the part of the brain that coordinates movement—is smaller than usual or not completely developed. For Red Rover, this looks like small steps when walking, a lack of confidence when moving, and he absolutely HATES being picked up. Red Rover will need another confident, friendly dog in his forever home to boost his confidence and show him the ropes in life. He currently lives with dogs of all sizes and cats. Red prefers the company of other dogs to his human family members, but he is a friendly little guy. Despite the extra pep in his step, Red is a smart boy who learns routines quickly. He is not your typical, active heeler and would not succeed as a working dog. He loves to chew on bones (or anything he can get his little teeth around), wrestle with his dog friends, and lay around the house. If you are looking to open your home to a special needs dog, Red Rover may just be your guy. If you have another friendly, confident dog, a fenced yard, and older children who can respect Red’s special needs, submit an adoption application at www.mikeyschance.com.

Story
Marvelous Mama Mini! At 3 years old this beautiful girl came to us about to bring a litter of minis into the world. Fast forward 3 months and her puppies are happy and healthy and she is ready to set off into the world, never to have puppies again. Mini is a cattle dog (full blood) and has all the traits that go along with a working breed. She is highly intelligent and quick to obey. She is strong willed when left to her own devices and fiercely loyal. She is athletic and energetic and is going to be a dream dog for the right home. She is not a couch potato pet and will need her activity for her mental and physical needs provided. Mini would do best in a home with breed experience or comparable, and/or an adopter able to work with a trainer to help everyone be living their best lives. She is dog friendly, cats are unknown. She is suspicious of strangers but once you win her heart you have a faithful companion for life. Mini is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and spayed. She is currently located in Tricities Washington. Her adoption fee is $400.
