Story
Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Wahoo, NE *This dog doesn’t belong to ASF and hasn’t been evaluated by ASF.* Meet Whiskey! He is an 2 year old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix and weighs around 55 lbs. He is neutered and up to date on shots, but isn’t on heartworm prevention. Whiskey is nervous around strangers, especially men! He is good with kids, farm animals, and dogs! He hasn’t been tested around cats. Whiskey is housebroken, but isn’t crate-trained. When someone is gone for too long, he pees and becomes destructive inside of the home. The owner is surrendering him because they are unable to provide the attention and exercise that he needs. If you think you can provide a great home for Whiskey, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $100 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Whiskey. Owner’s Contact Information: Faith at fmwestlund@gmail.com

Story
Meet Sunny! She’s a sweet and fun 12 week old Australian Shepherd (best guess) mix looking for her forever home! Sunny has blue eyes like the sky and enough charm to get out of trouble (even if she maybe pees on the rug once in a while…but hey, she’s working on it). She’s got the zoomies on lock, makes friends with every dog she meets, and couldn’t care less about cats. When she’s not chasing toys or making you laugh, she’s your snuggle buddy for life. She still needs some puppy training of course and is ready to start classes with her new family! Are you ready to let the sunshine in?? Sunny’s adoption donation is $425. She’ll be spayed when age appropriate at one of our vets, she’s fully vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to meet you! Applications can be found directly on our website in the drop down menu. https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you.  Thank you for choosing adoption!! April 23, 2025, 4:53 am

Story
Every once in a while, you meet an extra special dog that is full of gentle love, affection and resilience that will melt your heart! Meet Indigo Blue known also as Indy, our visually impaired one-year old 45-pound stunning girl. Your first instinct will be to wrap this sweet soul up in the comfort of your arms and keep her safe but soon you'll see she is so full of joy and doesn't act handicapped at all! Yes, her life was previously full of pain in a horrid kill shelter but since she is safe and no longer in pain she's just thrilled to be a normal happy girl! Plus remember Indy has never had full sight so knows no different.  We found Indy as a stray where she was to be euthanized the next day as her left eye was destroyed from glaucoma and she was in severe pain. Simple drops would have taken care of this, but she was not to be given a chance until Haven Animal Rescue Nebraska quickly called and arranged to have her transferred to Omaha immediately. Unfortunately, we could not save her left eye, and had it surgically removed so she would be pain free. Her right eye was evaluated and drops that only cost $10 a month have saved what little vision she has. Indy mostly sees shadows but you'd never know she is not fully sighted. She fully mapped out her foster home within two days and then roamed all levels including stairs and the outside yard without bumping into a thing!  To say this girl is amazing is an understatement! Indy's life now....she is extremely happy and gets along with all dogs from 35 to 155 pounds in her foster home but no cats please. She plays respectfully with dogs and takes their cues.  She has learned several commands and wants to please.  She loves to be with her people and is very devoted whether outside playing or laying beside you. Indy also walks well on leash once she trusts you and will follow a clicking sounds of your tongue in new places she has not mapped out in her mind. Nothing stops this lovebug from living life to the fullest and she is a pure delight. The perfect home for Indigo is a home with a fence, another dog (which is required as she needs a seeing eye friend) and lots of love and patience to give her!  She also adores children. No apartments please as she will alert you to sounds she can hear but not see. She is potty trained and crate trained. Although if you are home Indy wants to be out and with you! Please apply to meet Indigo Blue (Indy) and see if she is what has been missing from your life!  https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application ADOPTION DONATION: $375 *She will require eyedrop twice daily that she takes well and 2-3 vet visits a year for a simple glaucoma test. *All dogs must be adopted as inside companion animals and are altered, up to date with vaccinations, HW tested, microchipped and take preventatives monthly.   PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. Story
Meet Winnie!! She’s a gorgeous 12 week old Australian Shepherd mix (best guess) looking for her forever family! Her personality can be simply put into two words: sweet and playful. She is great with other dogs and loves to play. She’s learning how to walk on a leash and is crate training. She loves cuddling up in her dog bed or next to her humans on the couch with a blanket. This love bug is a fairly calm puppy, but loves to learn new things. Winnie’s adoption donation is $425. She will be spayed at one of our vets when age appropriate, is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and ready to meet you! Meet Harry! He’s an ADORABLE 12 week old mix. Our best guess is Australian Shepherd and possibly Border Collie, but who knows. Harry is a big ol’ love bug. He enjoys being outside in the backyard, playing with toys, being with his people, and romping with other dogs. He will be ready to start puppy training with his new family! Harry will be neutered by us at one of our partner vets when age appropriate, he’s up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and had his puppy exam. His adoption donation is $425. Story
Meet Bailey!! She’s a 16 month old purebred Australian Shepherd with a heart as big as her bouncy personality! Weighing in at just 30 pounds, she’s the perfect size for cuddling on the couch, but don’t let her dainty frame fool you. This girl LOVES to run, jump, and play like it’s her full-time job (and honestly, she’s really good at it). Looking for an agility partner or flyball champion?? This could be your girl! Bailey is sugar-sweet and completely smitten with her humans. She gives her whole heart to the people she loves and is happiest when she’s near them, whether that’s chasing a ball or curling up nearby for a nap. This little superstar sleeps soundly all night in her kennel and only gives a polite wake up call if nature calls (what a lady!). She’s still working on perfecting her house training and learning not to leap up in excitement, but she just can’t help how thrilled she is to see you! She is eager to please though and picking up good manners quickly in her foster home.  Bailey is incredibly friendly with other dogs (she adores her three foster siblings!) and has proven to be a respectful housemate to the resident cats…no chasing, just curious tail wags. With her soft, beautiful coat and bright eyes full of curiosity and love, Bailey is a total showstopper. More importantly, she’s ready to find her forever home…one with lots of love, playtime, and belly rubs. Bailey is spayed, fully vetted and vaccinated, microchipped, on preventatives, and ready to meet her forever family! Her adoption donation is $375.
