Story
Bear is a 7 year old puppy. I got him from the animal shelter and am unsure of the breed. He is a good boy, who loves to play. He is very protective of his owner and loves snuggles. He is aggressive with other dogs. He is also an escape artist and gets out of crates.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Jan came from a ranch where she lived outdoors 24/7. Once she came into rescue, we tried moving her inside the house, but she really seems to prefer living outdoors. She currently lives in our free-standing garage, which has a room with kennels for 3 dogs, plus its own fenced yard. Jan gets along with other dogs and is very playful. She has always been one of the smaller dogs in any playgroup, but she definitely has no trouble keeping up with dogs who are twice her size. Jan has shown some food protection tendencies, and we deal with those by managing her location for eating. When she lived inside the house, she willingly went inside a wire crate for meals. When she lived in a paddock with a Great Pyrenees, we fed both dogs about 10' apart, and stayed nearby to make sure each dog was able to eat in peace. In her current living arrangement, Jan takes her meals in a 5' x 5' kennel. No matter where she eats, we pick up food bowls after each meal to be sure there's nothing to cause any fights. Jan has never shown any aggression toward people. But given her history of being abandoned on a ranch where she was the smallest dog, we think it's natural that she protects her food bowl from other dogs. She's still learning to trust that there will always be another meal offered. Jan is still young and enjoys shredding stuffed toys and bedding, so we have a heavy-duty (horse) stall mat inside her kennel to provide a cushion on the concrete floor. And we stick to hard toys (like Kong and Nylabone toys) rather than stuffies. She may outgrow this behavior as she matures. We're really unsure about Jan's breed/mix. She looks almost like a miniature Anatolian Shepherd, and with her naturally bobbed tail, she may have some Australian Shepherd in her DNA. She has double dew-claws so may have a Great Pyrenees in her family tree as well. She was rescued from a ranch where there were at least two Great Pyrenees, and a dog whose coat and coloring makes him look like a combination Pyr/Aussie/Anatolian. So it's reasonable to guess that any or all of those breeds are part of Jan's DNA. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Puppy Maple is as sweet as her name, and she was such a good girl when she had her first visit with the vet! She is estimated to be 4.5-5 months old and weighs a little over 33 lbs as of 4/8/2025.   In late March, a neighbor messaged us to say one of our dogs had apparently escaped and was waiting at the front gate to be let back in. We drove the golf cart up to the gate to investigate. This adorable puppy was waiting there. She was a little shy at first, but she let me put a slip lead on her and we walked through the gate. She jumped right up on the golf cart and rode all the way to the house as if she had been doing that her whole (short) life. We had thunderstorms that morning so thought maybe she had been frightened and escaped from her home. But no one claimed her during a week-long stray hold period, so there’s a very real possibility that someone dumped her in our area. Hard to imagine why anyone would do that because Maple is super friendly and completely adorable.   We’re not sure about her breed mix. Her beautiful green eyes look like an Aussie and her build seems about right. But her coat is shorter than an Aussie. Her coat texture and color look like a Carolina dog. The Dog Scanner app suggests a few breeds that aren’t common in our area, but one of those seems like a pretty good match — Austrian Pinscher. Even so, we’re thinking Miss Maple is more likely to be a mix of breeds that are more common in North Texas. Maybe we’ll do a DNA test to find out!   Maple has had her first round of vaccinations and de-worming, and will get another round before she's available for adoption. She gets along well with all the dogs she has met, and plays well with dogs who are twice her size. She was curious about Hugo, one of the resident cats at the vet clinic, but she didn't show signs of wanting to chase him. She was very friendly with folks at the clinic, and definitely won some fans with her good temperament.   If you would like to meet Maple and consider adopting her, please complete the application here. Story
Figgy was born and raised in a homeless camp. After repeatedly picking him up the shelter asked us if we could take him. He has clearly been loved because he is super sweet. Sadly, his previous owners just couldn't keep him confined and members of the community were becoming frustrated with all of the dogs that were running wild. Figaro is about a year old and an absolute joy to be around. He is very much a people dog but loves playing and interacting with the other foster dogs here. He seriously wants to be a lap dog and is always happy and excited to get to be near his person. Figgs is completely crate trained. We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals. Our adoption fee goes towards covering age appropriate shots, dewormer, heartworm test, rabies shot, microchip, and spay/neuter! To learn more please feel free to message us at caninekarmarescue@gmail.com or fill out our application at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CKR/Dog Our adoptions are not conducted on a first come first served basis and we work to find the best home for each dogs individual needs.
