Story
Gentry is an Australian Shepherd. We think he may be around 6 years of age and weighs almost 50 pounds (he needs to lose weight). Gentry is a good boy and well-behaved in the house. He is crate trained but does not need to be crated and we do not crate him. He will sleep in a crate with the door open. He walks well on a leash and comes when called. He loves treats and is treat-motivated. He rides well in a vehicle without restraint but does need to be lifted inside. He uses the potty pads in the house if he cannot get out when he needs to go. Gentry is a low-energy dog and spends most of the day inside lying on one of the dog beds. He goes outside to potty and explore the yard. He barks when he gets excited. Gentry will do best in a home with another adult Aussie to encourage him to play. Gentry took refuge at a home out in the country. He had multiple bites and bruises around his neck and stomach, suggesting one or more dogs or coyotes had probably attacked him. It has been two years and his wounds have healed, yet he still runs to the house whenever the other dogs get too rowdy. Gentry is sweet but timid. He needs a home with gentle, loving people to help him gain confidence and overcome his fears. He is a wonderful dog that deserves a fabulous forever home. Gentry must be in the house as a loved member of the family. He must be walked on a leash and must have a secure fenced yard where he feels safe to explore and play. Gentry is neutered, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Lyme, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. He receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. He was treated for heartworms using the slow-kill method (we are happy to explain) and is now heartworm-free. Gentry will require periodic grooming because 1.) his tail has been completely cut off, so feces collects back there, and 2.) he gets extremely hot in the summer, and shaving helps him cool down. We will consider both in-state and out-of-state applications for Gentry. His in-state adoption fee is $200 and his $450 out-of-state adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted company to the NE or Pacific NW. He can be transported after he is adopted. Please email 2manydogstx@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting this good boy. Story
Meet Emmett, a lively adult dog who`s the life of the party. His playful nature and boundless energy make him a joy to be around. Emmett is a social butterfly, always ready to make new friends, be it dogs, cats, or children. He thrives on companionship, especially with those who like to rough house like he does, always seeking out a game of fetch or a warm lap for a cuddle. His energy is contagious, and he`ll have you laughing with his antics. He weighs 50 pounds and likes running, tugging, toys, water, walks, chase, and wrestling. He`s protective and obedient, a loyal companion who`ll always be by your side because he never wants to be alone. He knows the sit, no, and off commands. However, Emmett is a bit noisy and needs some training, but with a little patience and love, he`ll surely become the perfect pet. He`ll need your help to continue his house training and convince him that he doesn`t have to lead you when on a walk. If he runs away while off leash, at least he`ll come back if you call him. Emmett`s friendly demeanor and love for play make him the perfect addition to any family. He was given up because his family moved and couldn`t take him along. Adopt Emmett and bring home a friend who`ll fill your life with joy, laughter, and unconditional love. (tw 2/26/2025)Emmett is eligible for CAP`s Foster to Adopt program due to some medical needs. Please ask a CAP staff member about the program.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Dexter – your new best friend! He is a sweet, happy boy who’s ready to brighten your day! He’s friendly, loves attention, and will happily stay by your side for as long as you’re willing to pet him. This loveable guy enjoys getting all the back scratches and will sit on command, taking treats gently from your hand.Though he’s got a bit of excitement in him (he’s known for his happy hops), Dexter is easy to manage and will settle down once he’s had a little time to burn off that energy. His happy personality shines through, and he’s proven himself to be quite social. Dexter has a medium energy level, but he can easily transition into a more playful mode. Dexter would love to find a home where he can shower his new family with love, affection, and his endless happy energy!
