Story
Name: Captain Nicknames: Cap. Cappy. Cappuccino. Cappa. Chee-no. Breed: Bully mix Age: 3 years Weight: 56 lbs. Before OMD: Found as a stray. Spent a lot of time with our vet partner the last few months while we worked through his core vetting and extra diagnostics to make sure he was medically cleared for his adoption! His adopters should know he has a grade 3 murmur but it only presents itself when he is worked up/excited and it won't affect his quality of life or life span. Energy level: Medium. He goes for 2-3 mile walks when the weather cooperates. He does spend much of the day napping, but if he senses any movement and fun-to-be-had, he's springing into action. If he were a plant: He would be the invasive species variety. He likes to take up every inch of space around you. What we love most: When he leans his stocky-little-self into you for pets. When he rests his cylinder block head on you and stares up at you. When he army crawls over to you for pets. His always-in-a-good-mood disposition. The way he skips up the stairs and hops on the way back down. What he loves most: Ice cubes - as soon as he hears the freezer opening, he's bolting over and sitting like a VGB, patiently waiting for his cube. Attention. Pets. Walks. Snuggles. Food. Melting into his dog beds and couch cushions. Working on: Less pulling on leash when he sees little critters. Less corn-cobbing (nibbling) you when he's excited and wants attention. Less licking foster family members. Kids: 8+ please. He has not socialized yet with kiddos and we expect that he would easily knock little ones over. Dogs: His size or larger! He currently lives with 2 larger, low-key dogs and is very respectful (though could annoy a potential companion with his very "thoughtful" grooming techniques). Small dogs incite his prey drive and are a definite no. Cats: Hard pass House-trained: Yep! Crate-trained: Yes and he currently sleeps in his crate. Captain is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from our website.

Story
Name: Gandalf Nicknames: Gandy. Meatloaf. Netball. Meat-za. Lil Caesar. Sir Julius Caesar. Mr. Meats. Reminds us of: He may be called Gandalf, but he's giving Gollum mixed with dinosaur mixed with baked potato. Breed: Bulldog mix/Bully mix. Age: ~ 2 years Weight: ~ 50 lbs. Before OMD: Found himself in the city shelter with his two other Bully mix housemates (who were parvo positive and rescued by another group) - his skin and eyes were in rough shape. The shelter then reached out to us for help and we were able to get him straight to our vet, where he thankfully tested negative for parvo, but did need treatment for his skin and ear infections and then entropian surgery. Energy Level: Generally, it's basement level low. He could not be less athletic or slow. Life motto: Do less. Affection Level: Attic level high. He is proudly cuddly and affectionate. He wants to be near his people at all times, preferably on top of them. His chin also must have a pillow, and he prefers that pillow to be your lap. What we love most: When it’s time to go outside for the last time before bed, he will roll on his back to try to solicit belly rubs instead of getting up. If you squat and open your arms he will RUN from wherever he is directly to you. The way he runs makes every witness to his "run" laugh - his front arms swing side to side. The way his tongue sticks out when he sleeps - if you boop it, he tucks it in. What he loves most: Sleeping in front of the fireplace. Snuggling. Soliciting all the pets. Gnawing on Benebones. Destroying toys. Finding the sunspots to lie in. Seeing his humans wake up and realizing it's the morning, so that means it's a whole new day to get pet. What he dislikes: The cold. The vacuum (and other loud machines). Slowly coming around to the hairdryer... Kids: Yes! He was eager to befriend the toddler he met. Sturdy, dog-saavy kiddos would be best as he does knock little ones over. Dogs: It's complicated. He did well with dogs in his initial foster home, but has had some squabbles with the male dog in his current foster due to jealousy/sharing attention. We think he could do well with a female dog who is not as obsessed with human attention as he is. Ultimately, loves his people and attention so much, he is not happy about sharing it with another dog. Cats: Sure! Housetrained: Mostly, but remember he hates the cold and rain, and has been known to sneak some poops when no one is looking Crate trained: Does best gated in a small area. If a crate is needed, he does best with plastic style. Medical Note: Gandalf is an allergy dog and needs to be on a higher quality food and is currently taking apoquel daily. Gandalf is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.12/14/24 STILL AVAILABLE 11/28/24 Poundcake (brown) and Shortbread (brindle) have been with me in rescue since they were 8wks old. They are now about a year old. These sweet girls have spina bifida which has left them completely incontinent. Other than incontinence, they have no other health problems. They are so deserving of a good life and forever home. They do well with diapers but require frequent changes because they are constantly dribbling. It would be helpful to express their bladders fully before diapering, to reduce their output. They currently sleep in a crate with a grate in bottom to stay clean. And they spend time on my porch which can be hosed off, on nice days. Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to devote the time they deserve. They need homes of their own! They are SO SWEET. They can be adopted separately or together. They are excellent with other dogs of all sizes. They currently weigh about 45-50 lbs. They are spayed and up to date on everything. Story

Now, he’s getting vetted and neutered, and he’ll be all set for his forever home!Arty is the ultimate friendly companion—he loves kids, people, other dogs, and even cats! He’s house-trained, has great house manners, and enjoys going on short walks. With his gentle, affectionate nature, he’ll make a wonderful addition to just about any family. If you’re looking for a laid-back, loving, and well-mannered Bulldog, Arty is your guy!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.March 12, 2025, 6:56 am

Story
Hello to all the squat Bully/Pittie lovers out there! It gives us great pleasure to introduce you to Mr. Bean! Our boy is a stocky meatball, at 1 year old, an American bully at almost 60lbs. He loves to be active in short energy bursts (with incredibly fast rocket zoomies!), but then settles in and crashes for cuddles and a nappy with his peeps. No hiking partner here, but instead you've got a couch partner for binge watching series on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu! He has some allergy issues that we are working through, but no surprise to Pittie/Bully peeps out there! This guy loves his Pittie canine foster sister and is great with other dogs that match his rough and tumble play style (he's good with short play spurts, not high endurance roughhousing sessions - think 400-meter dash versus triathlon). He prefers dogs his size or a bit smaller. Bonus - he is crate trained and mostly housetrained! Homes with sturdy children 8 years of age and older will be a good fit for this boy (he comes in like the stocky wrecking ball, er meatball, that he is - he can't help it, he just adores human interaction!). For more information how to cast a "yes!" vote for this guy to come reside with your family, please email his public relations coordinator Michelle at michelle.p@poainc.org AND complete an application ASAP at www.poainc.org

Story
Dulce is a very friendly and fun-loving gal. She is extremely social with all people and all animals, but she really lights up when there are kids around. She can be a bit too in your face at times.... but she's still young and inquisitive. She is learning boundaries along with tons of other commands since she's a very smart cookie. And even though her videos show her happy, active side she definitely knows how to chill out and cuddle.
