(wink wink)  I am a bulldog afterall and do have some dry eye issues, that I happily take meds for. My eyelashes curl in a bit, but keeping those nice and lubricated helps with that, too! The vet said I don't need surgery on those, so long as I get my eye drops! I also don’t require a fenced yard although I won’t turn one away.  I haven’t had lots of practice using a leash for walking yet but that just gives us time to work on that together.  I keep my kennel clean all day long despite a grumble and whimper when you first put me in there. Mainly because I’m a little lover. People are my jam. I get so darn excited around them that sometimes I go THROUGH them, so maybe older kids and sure-footed people for now. BULLDOOOZZER! I end up under your feet a lot also because I just want to be where you are.  So don’t try putting me outside to potty by myself because I will barrel through the door to get to you! I don’t like to be left alone.  I’m an angel with dogs of all sizes but that being said, I’m ok to be an only dog as long as you promise to socialize me and help me with proper doggie etiquette.  I’d love another dog to keep learning from if you have one, however. I don’t play with toys much at this point but have recently discovered an interest in cords that are plugged in and chair legs, so be mindful.  I redirect easily with a bone or some simple scratches. Again, I am learning so much about being in a home! My foster mom said I am the perfect combination of couch potato and energy.  I hope you agree! This boy was dumped off at an auction place by his owners. Apparently their new landlord wouldn’t let him stay and that was their solution. He waited for them but was caught by a volunteer's house and brought in. He is a sweet, sweet boy who was definitely cared for. We’re positive he is housetrained and does well on a leash. He does well around other dogs his size, have not put him with smaller dogs. We aren’t sure about cats but know he can learn those manners. He loves to be around people, does well with kids and would love to go on any adventure with his new family. He would do best in a yard to get some energy out but it doesn't have to be too big…. just something he can walk around in but extra walks or dog park would do best for him. He is just a big lover who was let down by one family and is hoping for a second chance with a new one. Hank is being fostered in TN at this time but no worries because we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. They transport every weekend alternating between the Northeast and the Midwest.

Vince, his mother Virginia and his two siblings, Victor, and Vanilla are in a shelter that is overfull and will need to make space shortly. ALL OF THEM ARE ON THE URGENT LIST! The poor momma was a stray that no one would help. She finally wandered up to an empty house to have her babies and thankfully someone called trying to find help for her. Vince is the leader of his pack. He is wide open in the play yard, and he loves a tennis ball. He will not jump on you for attention, but he makes his wishes clear by wiggling his butt all around you and gazing up with puppy eyes until you notice him. Vince seems good with kids and other dogs but just make sure you introduce them properly as he thinks he should be in charge! He is super sweet and playful and very smart. He is coming along well with leash walking and potty training and relishes love, and attention. Vince is currently in TN but the transport to your area is included in your fee. Virginia was dumped out pregnant and despite going up to several homes and people, no one tried to help. Now she and her puppies, Vince, Victor & Vanilla are in a shelter that is overfull and will need to make space shortly. ALL OF THEM ARE ON THE URGENT LIST! This girl is going to make someone a fabulous companion! She walks very well on a leash, is potty-trained, and is active but not hyper. Virginia LOVES to go for car rides, especially if there's a burger and a pup-cup involved. And when she went on an outing, she was the perfect lady when walking around the store- she was polite, greeted everyone, picked out a chew toy and treats. She also LOVES to play with her tennis ball or squeaky ball!! No stuffy toys for this girl, unless you want a snowstorm of fluff inside your house 🙂 She loves to be with her person but is content to play by herself too. Virginia does not love other dogs and we recommend she be an only-pet home. She has done well with kids and loves everyone she meets. She will need some work with leash walking as she is a strong puller. She does not jump, nor does she guard her food or toys. She takes a treat ever-so-gently and is just an overall "Good Girl!!" Virginia is looking for a pet-free family to include her on their adventures and show her all the love this mama dog deserves!! This girl is an absolute LOVE and deserves the best home ever! Violet is 7 months old and 33 pounds. Female/Spayed and UTD on vaccines and Heartworm/flea/tick prevention. She is very friendly and gets along well with her sibling Vince and mom Virginia. We have introduced her to other shelter dogs, and she gets along fine. We do not know how she does with kitties. She had children in her previous adopted family and did really well. She is leash trained and stays in a kennel. She would be a great dog for an active family.

On the dog side, she has paws, canines, and a doggy coat. On the pig side, she has the body type of a pig, snorts, and grunts. Whatever species you decide, Porkita would be a very friendly addition to anyone's family! In a seriousness, Porkita is a 3-4 year old English type bulldog cross who is just a joy to be around. From her steady stream of snorts and grunts while you walk to her loud snoring while sleeping, she is a delight. She gets along with other dogs, ignores cats, and is house and crate trained. While probably not the brightest bulb on the tree, she is no pushover. She shut down the annoying Shih tzu by simply rolling over on him. She teases the ball chaser by darting in and grabbing the ball out from under her nose, starting a game of chase that is pretty funny to watch. And she gets away with it! Although the Shih tzu's nose is still a little out of joint. And she absolutely loves to cuddle. She is a tad on the heavy side, but is already slimming down a bit with regular exercise and play. Her future owner would do well by keeping her weight down and keeping up with her daily exercise. She walks well on a leash and loves to stick around off leash. She is more than capable of supervising any home improvement projects you may have. Please read up on Bulldogs before you apply. This breed is notorious for health problems and without knowing her background or breeding, she could end up with several. Hi I'm Boss, I'm an energetic one year old American bulldog that would love a home to play and run around at! My fosters say I have an animated personality that pictures just can't capture, so hopefully this bio can help out with that! My favorite toy is my basketball, that I love to play with like it's a good game of soccer! Though I have many pass time activities like going on walks, my favorite one is going on car rides and sticking my head out the window. I love watching all the things go by, it's so entertaining! (don't worry it's half way so I'll be safe!). My training is still in progress, some of my difficulties right now that I'm working on are jumping when excited, being mouthy when playing, maintaining my energy properly, finding ways to deal with my boredom and noticing dogs' boundary queues. Some things I'm trained on is kennel time, and getting your attention when I need to use the restroom (my fosters use bells, and i ring them when I need to go!). I have been around kids, and though I'm good, my energy can be a bit high for them so older kiddos might be a better fit for me right now. I'm still in progress with getting used to cats, I'm still curious about them, so I can be vocal and jumpy towards them but a home with no cats might be a better fit for me. I'm highly curious about smaller animals and I am known for chasing chickens.. but I am good with dogs! My energy is also a bit of a struggle with making new friends, but the ones that match my playful puppy energy are my favorite! I love going on walks, and getting the zoomies in my foster's backyard! My name is Winston Churchill, and what I crave most in life is love, affection and safety…my biggest dream is to be YOUR fur-ever companion! I’m a total love bug if I do say so myself! My foster family also says that I’m very handsome (TOTALLY TRUE) with a loving and playful personality…also true! Most of the time I’m just a mellow guy who’s happiest when nestling into my people or lounging in a round comfy bed or couch (preferably by my humans of course!). In addition to cuddling, I enjoy stuffy toys (the sturdy kind!), squeaker balls, and I also love chewing on Nylabones. Toys & bones aside, if you REALLY want to know the way to my heart bring on the belly rubs, head scratches, food (did I mention I LOVE breakfast?!), and treats! In fact, if treats are involved, I will undoubtedly master any trick or skill! Speaking of…I’ve now learned to “sit”, “touch”, “stay” and “leave it”…that last one being important as sometimes I think my poop looks like a snack! Hee, hee!! Don’t judge! Anyway, I sleep like an angel at night in my crate with my people nearby, but I don’t like being left alone and will bark, bark, and bark some more if I am left in that thing with no one around…I mean seriously is wherever you’re going SO important that you can’t take me with you!?! I just love my people so much, and I feel anxious when they leave. But, my foster fam is starting to trust me being outside of the crate for short test-runs. They told me they can see everything on the doggy camera, so I’ve been on my best behavior and just look out the window quietly waiting for them to return! With that said, it would be good if you’re home with me lots and that my forever home didn’t have shared walls. Moving right along, I have not met any cats, but I think I’d be ok with them if they keep to themselves LOL; I don’t like a lot of commotion and I’m working on building up my confidence, so I think a household without kids would be best for me. However, I have met lots of dog friends now and LOVE playing with my two resident dog sibs! I also love leisurely walks at the park (although when we walk near our house, I don’t understand why we walk AWAY from all the good things already at home!). I am potty trained on a schedule, and a fenced-in backyard would be a great option for me (as I don’t always do my “business” on walks…too many cool things to see and smell!). I’m still learning to trust people who aren’t MY people (if you know what I mean!). So when we venture out to new environments, I put on my shy-guy face. And when friends and family come to visit the house, it takes a while for me to warm up to them. But foster mom is working on showing me that the big world isn’t so scary! In fact, I love to hang out at Bachman’s and dog-friendly breweries…I’m a quietly “watch and observe” type of guy right now – but when it comes to treats… I’ll GLADLY take those from anyone!! Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi – my name is Malaga and I hope my initial shyness doesn’t turn you away from adopting me.  You see, once I warm up to you and feel safe, my goofy personality comes out to play.  Although I am very skittish, I am also very submissive.  I never show any aggression or bite.  In fact, I have a 5-year old friend here at my foster home and I don’t mind her.  Due to my skittish nature, I do need a fenced yard.  It’s just best for all of us that way so I don’t get away. The fenced yard has also helped with my potty training – with a good routine I am doing great. We are also working on crate training and I am a superstar! While I’m good with other dogs, I don’t show much interest in them – I am just a mellow gal! I don’t bark often (usually just when suuuuper excited when you come home).  I’ll even manage a few zoomies when you return just for show.  And if you tell me to “lay down”, I am smart enough to know that’s when I need to lay on my bed.  Just don’t stand/walk behind me (remember that skittish thing I have?),  I like to be the one in the caboose section.  I don't need another dog in my home, if my people are home often. If you are, having another doggie buddy to hang out with would be great! Overall, I’m a chill dog.  Sleeping/naps are what I do the most. I'm Danny Devito, a lovable 9-year-old French Bulldog, weighing in at 24 pounds of pure charm. I may be a senior, but I've got the heart of a puppy and the spirit to match. I'm all about being close to my humans, no matter where we are – inside, outside, at home, or out and about. I'm pretty mild-mannered, except when it's feeding time. Then, I become very vocal, urging you to hurry up with my meal! I love a little yummy in my tummy! I adore everyone I meet and will happily lay at anyone's feet for some pets and love (and treats!). At the dog park, I love hanging out with bigger dogs. I might be small, but I enjoy running around their ankles and joining in the fun. Despite my age, I still have short bursts of energy and an entertaining running style that can make anyone smile. I love toy bones and stuffed animals, and after doing my business outside, I make sure to remind you – loudly – that I've earned a treat. I never let you forget the treats! I'm great with cats, always respectful, and I don't need a fenced yard. Leash training is a work in progress, and while I'm not a fan of long walks due to my little legs, I do okay with short distances. I can be quite dramatic if you try to take me too far – I'll lay down on the grass or sidewalk and close my eyes until you pick me up and carry me. I'm potty trained for poop, but we're still working on a routine for pee  - sometimes foster mom puts a belly band on me just in case. I'm crate trained and know the hand signal for "come," and we're working on "kennel." I’m a little hard of hearing so the hand signals are working great. I'm mild-mannered, love to snuggle, and will take over any blanket within reach. I have a particular fondness for cat toys if you have those lying around. Stairs are a bit of a challenge for me – I do a silly slow-hop that sometimes needs a bit of encouragement. I thrive on attention, petting, and treats. If you're looking for a low-energy companion who loves snuggles and has a big personality in a small package, I'm your guy. Could I be the perfect addition to your family? *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    Bulldogs are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise.  Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of.  Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure the breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average bulldog owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs.   In addition to normal pre adoption surgeries, Danny Devito also had surgery on his nares and soft palate to improve the quality of his breathing. This is reflected within her adoption fee. Bulldogs are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses.  The application process for bulldogs usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application.  They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one!   This dog requires an application fee.  This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Bulldog Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the bulldog.
