Story
Winona has been through a lot. We don't know all the details of her life but she was discovered in a local residents yard, where she had been hiding for several days. She's still fairly timid but she's a gentle girl and is starting to come out of her shell. Winona will need a quiet, adult home with yard access. She loves to lean into you and snuggle up. Even though, Winona is a big girl, she thinks she's a lap dog. She's athletic as well and once comfortable, she will love walks and hikes. Story
I have everything going for me — I am big, sweet, goofy, well-trained and loving. I’ve been a fantastic companion to my person for the last 3.5 years but he has to move overseas to take care of his ailing mother, and I’ll need to find a new forever home here. I just love chilling and sleeping as long as I get 2~3 walks a day (in addition to my potty breaks). My favorite time is when I fall asleep to my person's lullaby while he gently caresses my cheeks. I’ve done a lot of training and I’m great with walks and get along with most dogs and other animals. I try to stay away from aggressive ones though. But because of my size, other dogs often get a bit intimidated and bark at me a lot, but I don’t usually mind it and I just ignore them. Seeing squirrels gets me excited but I am learning to leave them be. I’m very good with sit, down, shake/hand, stay and touch, especially when I get rewarded with treats! I like playing with my friends but I also like doing my own things and sniff, sniff, sniff… I was born to SNIFF! I'm also great on car rides and love going to places. Getting my teeth brushed every night has become my favorite thing too and I would love to continue with that routine to keep my good health! Again, I’m mostly chill but because of my size, I would do best in a home with people who are comfortable handling a big, strong dog and no small children. I’d also love to find a home with an outdoor space, so I can chill under the sun. If you want a big, sweet goofball who will love you back unconditionally, swipe right and let's match! If you are interested in meeting Milton, please download the Adoption Questionnaire, fill it out and email it back to us at info@farescue.org or fax (310) 362-0321. You can also meet this and/or other available dogs at our weekend adoptions. [Milton is about 8 years old and weighs 90 lbs.] (2012)

Story
Hi! My name is Winter COH. I am a 4 year old spayed female Saint Bernard Mix. I look almost identical to my brother, Beethoven. We were found running the streets together. My brother has been adopted and now it's my turn! I am an excited, loving and loyal companion and I absolutely adore everyone I meet! I love going on walks and generally just love being around the family. I am happy ALL the time and I'll show you with my hugs and wagging tail. Come meet me this weekend and let's go on adventures together! We hold an event every weekend at our facility on SATURDAY and SUNDAY 11-5pm and open to the public. It is first come first serve we do not evaluate applications prior to an event. If there are multiple interested parties in the same dog or puppy at the same time we would pick the best out of the 10 applications. Please visit our social media platforms for the specifics for each weekend as it changes from week to week. Please find our application at lovejoyfoundation.org when you come to an event please bring that filled out in hand with you. You can find our application at Lovejoyfoundation.org. The Lovejoy Foundation, Inc. does not adopt beyond a 30 mile radius from our headquarters in Inglewood. Sometimes exceptions are made in a particular situation for an adopter further out than 30 miles which is at the discretion of the director.

Story
Troy is a 1-year-old St. Bernard mix who loves his people! This gentle giant was rescued just in time from Lancaster animal shelter. He is potty-trained and is quickly learning his basic commands. He already walks great on a leash and does well around other dogs on leash, cyclists and runners. He likes to lie by your side while you’re working but does well in the yard and does not bark even when the neighbor dogs do! While he prefers to be with his humans, Troy does well with all dogs of all dogs but does prefer a more mellow energy like himself! If you’re looking for an affectionate lovebug, come meet Troy!

Story
PLEASE NOTE: The first step in the process is to complete an adoption application on our website roversretreat.org In December of 2023 we began a massive effort to save 20+ Bernese mountain dog mixes off of a hoarding property in New Mexico. They all came to us terrified of everything. Shut down after being neglected and living outside their whole lives. Almost all have now been adopted and are doing so well with their furever homes, but there are just a couple boys left. Meet Sunny. Sunny was part of a litter of 6 that came to us when they were just 8 weeks old. All of his siblings have been adopted, but he has remained in rescue while we worked through some medical concerns. He was diagnosed a few months ago with irritable bowel disease. He has been on a prescription food and medication the last couple months and he has slowly but surely begun to put on more weight, and we are seeing further improvement, although flareups can and will still happen sporadically. Sunny is now a year old and we’re finally starting to feel he is more stable and ready to begin the search for a committed forever family! Because of his background he is still very fearful of new people initially. He will bark and run away, but he warms up fairly quickly as long as people ignore him and let him come to them. He LOVES other dogs and because of his timidness of people, a confident playmate and mentor dog is an absolute must for him. He is highly food motivated and although he cannot have anything other than his prescription food, he doesn’t know the difference and will do anything for a kibble! He is super smart and eager to learn new things. Sunny needs a very patient, committed home with the ability to provide the following: Commitment to his ongoing (costly) care for his IBD A playful, confident mentor dog Patience helping him adjust to new environments and people Once he’s comfy with you he is the most goofy, affectionate, playful guy. He just needs the right support system to set him up for success. If you’re interested in adopting Sunny please head to our website roversretreat.org to apply 📍Sunny is currently being fostered in Redondo Beach, California but can be adopted anywhere as long as you can come to SoCal and drive home. We don’t ship any of our dogs PLEASE NOTE: Sunny is being fostered in Redondo Beach and his adoption fee is $800*

Story
Benny needs to be an only dog... a great match would be a loving "Saint Bernard savvy" adopter looking for a fluffy love bug & willing to devote time, continued training & leadership in exchange for limitless snuggles, love & devotion from Benny. Handsome 2-year-old Benny has a long list of very admirable qualities! He behaves perfectly at home, does not counter surf, sits & waits for his meals & is not a heavy drooler. A mellow, affectionate boy, Benny is content to stay quietly by your side if you work from home as the only dog. Although friendly with some dogs, Benny is sometimes "dog selective" & we feel he should be the only dog at his new home. Benny looks forward eagerly to his daily walks but won't require an intense amount of exercise. He rides well in a car & is not destructive. He sleeps through the night & is housebroken & neutered. If you are interested in Benny, please complete an adoption application on a laptop or desktop ( not a cell phone). https://www.sunnysaints.org/our-adoption-process.html

Story
Piper is a young female that has a lot of puppy in her. She is housebroken, never had an accident in the house. She uses a doggie door, she is crate trained. She gets along with other dogs, introductions must be supervised and calm. She can react to another dog as they react to her. This will get better over time and with more socialization. Cats and small dogs are not ideal as she thinks they're fun to chase. Piper does have some separation anxiety, wants to make sure her people are always within line of sight. To help with this, she would do best to be with a mature, confident dog her size or someone who is with her at all times. She rides well in the car. She is getting much better on leash. She currently knows "Sit" "Leave it" & "Come" She LOVES people and all she wants to do is please and receive belly rubs. An active family would be ideal, but she doesn't mind cuddling up and watching TV either. Piper is up to date on her vaccinations and is spayed. She is currently being fostered in Visalia, California. If you're interested in Piper, please go to https://www.sunnysaints.org/adoption-application.html and fill out an adoption application.

** BONDED pair - Need to stay together ** A good Samaritan found these two wandering around; took them in, did the needful to try to locate their owners to no avail and reached out to Sunny Saints to find the perfect home for them. They are dog friendly, potty trained, need work on leashing training, but again, completely bonded, they don't like to be out of sight of one another, even sleeping next to eachother. These girls are on the smaller size, and very sweet with people. Please consider opening your heart and home to these girls. They are currently being fostered in Hemet, CA Please fill out an adoption application by going to our website: www.sunnysaints.org/adoption-application.html

Adopting a Entlebucher

Frequently asked questions about acquiring an Entlebucher - the pros and cons of adopting versus going through a breeder, and associated costs.

You can adopt an Entlebucher at a much lower cost than buying one from a breeder. The cost of adopting an Entlebucher is around $300 to cover the expenses of caring for the dog before adoption. In contrast, buying Entlebuchers from breeders can be prohibitively expensive. Depending on their breeding, they usually cost anywhere from $1,300 to $3,000.

The easiest way to adopt an Entlebucher would be through a rescue that specializes in Entlebuchers. A great place to start would be to create a breed search on Adopt a Pet. The search will show you all the available Entlebuchers in your area.

Entlebucher fun facts

Fun Facts:

The Entlebucher is the smallest and quickest of the four Swiss Sennenhunds.

The Entlebucher's main task was to drive cattle up to the mountains in the summer, guard them while they grazed all season, and then drive them back down into the valley for the winter.

The Entlebucher is rarely seen outside of its native Switzerland.
