Champagne, a stunning 1-2 year old Standard Poodle, possibly a Doodle, is ready to find his forever home! He currently weighs 54lbs. Rescued from a shelter with his sister Romance, Champagne has settled into foster life beautifully and is eager to share his love with a lucky family. Champagne wakes up around 7-8 am, greeting each morning with gentle stretches and a wagging tail. He sleeps peacefully in his foster parents’ room and doesn’t need a crate—though they’re considering training him just for consistency. After a quick breakfast (which he eagerly devours!), he enjoys a game of backyard ball and a morning walk to take care of business. Throughout the day, Champagne loves being close to his people. He’s a classic velcro dog, quietly curling up at your feet while you work or relax. Come evening, he has dinner around 5 pm, takes another walk, and then settles in for cozy movie time, happily snoozing until bedtime. Champagne’s personality is pure sweetness. He craves affection and reassurance, and while he’s incredibly cuddly, he’s respectful if you’re busy—though you’ll often find those soulful puppy eyes gazing up at you, waiting for a pet. He’s especially attached to his foster mom, following her from room to room and softly whimpering when she steps away. Champagne’s love for people extends to everyone he meets—he greets each family member with joy and never wants to be left out of the fun. While Champagne adores people, he’s pretty indifferent to other dogs. He recently had a playdate with a neighbor dog, which included some playful zoomies, but he ultimately focused more on the humans. His foster family suspects he’d do fine with cats that stand their ground—though he might give chase if they run. Playful but not overly energetic, Champagne enjoys chasing a ball a few times or squeaking a toy but settles quickly afterward. For a young dog, he’s impressively calm and gentle indoors. He’s also very trainable—he already knows “sit” and is working on other commands like “stay,” “off,” and “leave it.” On walks, he’s polite on leash and rarely pulls, though he might lunge at a passing squirrel or bird (he considers it a fun game, not an obsession!). With his stamina, he’d make a great running buddy. Champagne is mostly house-trained, with just a couple of early marking incidents. He hasn’t shown interest in digging or destructive chewing—he prefers a bully stick over most chew treats. He does have a habit of counter-surfing, likely due to past food insecurity, but his foster family is working on it. Consistent training and keeping food out of reach will help curb this. The ideal home for Champagne? Just about anyone who wants a loving, loyal companion! He’d thrive in a family where someone is home often, but he’d also make an exceptional comfort dog in a quieter setting—he’s the kind of pup who’ll happily sit for hours while being gently petted. Families with older children, singles looking for a loyal friend, or retirees seeking a sweet shadow would all be great matches. He’d especially love a home that welcomes pets on the couch or bed, where he can snuggle up and soak in all the love he deserves. Champagne is ready to pop into your life and fill it with warmth, cuddles, and unwavering loyalty. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate dog who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Champagne might just be your perfect match.March 9, 2025, 4:20 pm
