My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Hi everyone! I'm Walter! I'm 2 years old and about 45lbs. These wonderful people saved me. I was abandoned and left all by myself. I met some doggy friends along the way. I dug a hole for us to sleep in and stay warm. Everything was going well until I got hit by a car and dislocated my hip. I now have a slight limp when I walk but it doesn't slow me down! This vet thing looked me over and said I was all good. I just need a joint supplement each day!

As I said before, I LOVE MY DOGGY FRIENDS!! I love to play with them, cuddle with them, and just hangout together.  As you heard, I recently learned what the inside of a house is like. Let me tell you, it's niiiceeeeee! I try to keep a clean house by always using the bathroom outside!

I have learned that humans are okay. You see I'm not an in your face type of dog at first. I am happy just to hangout near my people and with my doggy friends. It will take me a while to warm up to you, but when you are my person I will love you forever!

Walter needs to to be in the crate while at home alone, as he gets afraid of being left again. He would do best in a home with a doggy friend he can play with. He's as sweet, friendly, and cuddly as ever, and his playful energy keeps everyone laughing. His curiosity and goofiness make every day an adventure. If you're looking for a loyal friend who will keep you entertained with his antics, then Walter is your guy. He's ready to bring his bravery, smarts, and boundless love to a forever home.

Adopt Walter and let the laughter begin!

More about this rescue

We are an all volunteer rescue organization devoted to saving dogs from shelters, puppy mills, abusive situations and abandonment in North Carolina. Our members foster, transport and help the rescue efforts with their individual skills, experience, knowledge and expertise, and most importantly, their love of dogs.

At Pawfect Match Rescue we believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance regardless of their breed or age.

We take a different approach to rescue. We don’t try to save the masses; we just save ONE at a time and make them the best dog they can be by the time they find their forever homes.

By that we mean that we take them into our homes where they live amongst us and our pets and are treated as one of the family, not as a foster dog. We accomplish this by limiting our fosters to one or two per household.

Besides the basics of crate training and house training, we teach them basic obedience, we groom them, feed them a high quality dog food, and last but not least, we shower them with LOVE and attention that hopefully teaches them to trust again and realize that life really IS good..

We’ll never be able to save them all, no matter how many we try to pull and foster. So we believe that the one at a time approach with the extra TLC allows us to really KNOW the dogs and be able to match them more precisely with their new families.

This ends up being a win- win situation for all involved.

Pawfect Match is all volunteer and relies solely on adoption donation fees and public support. Most times our adoption donations do not cover our medical expenses.
