My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kane is one of the most resilient dogs we know. Because he's been through so much in his short life, we are looking for some very special adopters for him. Kane has started professional training while in his foster home, and we expect his adopter to continue his training (at no cost). He is the best boy and has the sweetest soul. He never meets a stranger and LOVES kids. He currently lives with a 3 year old and 13 year old and does amazing with them. Although he looks tough, we can almost guarantee you he would greet a robber with lots of affection and tail wagging. He has been such a wonderful dog! A message from Kane's trainer, Kristen McHenry: "Kane has been with me since January, but been in rescue since October 2023. Before that, he was in and out of the shelter for a year. Now he is ready for a forever home! He is in love with orange and blue chuck-it balls and all types of bones. He can destuff a soft toy within seconds, so he doesnt get a lot of those. Hes house broken and crate trained too. He has never been destructive inside the house, but I still recommend using a crate for a while as he adapts to his new environment. He is the derpiest, most goofy dog. Kane is definitely more couch potato, but would still enjoy going on a walk now and then. He also enjoys car rides. Although Kane does great for baths, he isnt a dog that enjoys water or swimming in pools. All he asks for is a family to love him and Kane will return that love and affection ten-fold! Kane has been through extensive rehabilitation. Prior to staying with me, Kane was very concerned with other dogs because he had been attacked before. Kane now has safely met all types of dogs. Big and small. Male and female. Young and old. We believe Kane would do best in a home with any dog that isnt going to be super dominant and pushy with him. Kane is great with all dogs and does not seek out confrontation but will defend himself if approached by a dog that doesnt understand proper boundaries and body language. He would also be just fine being the only dog. Unfortunately, he is a little too curious about cats. So a cat free home is a must." If youre interested in adopting, please submit an application! His adoption fee has been FULLY SPONSORED to help find him the perfect him for him and comes with FREE professional training! Kane has completed his vet care and can go to his forever home whenever. A meet with any approved adopter's current pets is required before starting the two-week adoption trial. Please visit our website savedbyfate.org to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs and cats.

Additional adoption info

SBF adoptions start off with a 2-week trial period to ensure that the SBF dog is a good fit for your family and current pets. The adoption fee is due the day an adopter starts the 2-week trial period. If the adoption does not work out within those two weeks, the adopter will be refunded all but a $50 donation, or they can put the fee towards another adoptable dog.

More about this rescue

Saved by Fate is a dog rescue organization in Central Kentucky that specializes in pulling dogs at high risk of euthanasia from Kentucky shelters. SBF was founded by Mara DeLaus and Ciara Hagedorn in 2022. After years of volunteering for a fellow organization, they saw a significant need for additional rescue resources in their area. SBF is an entirely foster and volunteer based organization that does not have a physical location or kennel at this time.
